How to unlock the Gear head achievement in Wolfenstein: Youngblood - Definitive Guide
Best way I found so far to grind out the coins after you completed everything else is to play the game once a day and to run around all of the map locations to collect the coin boxes and do the side quest plus the daily challanges.
For this you will want to have the perk that lets you see the collectibles on your mini-map as it will show you the locations of the boxes. First up grab your daily/weekly challanges in the katakombs and then travel to each location one after the other. Every 24 hours the boxes will respawn and you will be able to grab the 50 to 100 coins from each box. Do every side quest that you get over your radio as it will give you about 200 extra coins.
Every day I would get about 6000-7000 coins a day. I would say that translates to about 7-10% of the achievement progress dependant on the upgrades you have left.
After completing the story and all of the side mission I had about 50% of the game done. So there was a whole lot more to grind out.
Luckily you will likely unlock every other achievement you have got left while doing this because there are always a lot of enemies to encounter along the way.
To actually unlock the achievement you need to go into your weapon upgrade tab and buy every attachement and every improvment for each one.

Just for more info, you need 140,510 coins to fully unlock all the upgrades for all the guns (based on my current coins collected and adding up the prices for the rest of my upgrades; I'm currently 70% done and I'm level 70, coincidentally). If you're going for the skins achievement too it would be 144,510.
You can view collected coins in statistics: general, of course to also gauge progress if you want to be selective about upgrades.
Also, while it takes a little more than twice as long, if you enter all secret bunkers and undergrounds to get to the brothers instead of using the mini map, you can net 10-15k coins depending on how precise you are. I'm almost done with this cheevo (just have 10300 left for all the dieselkraftwerk upgrades) and today I hit a record of 18k (including daily missions and side quests).

I was guessing it was around 145k and you've done the leg work to figure out just exactly how much :D

The fastest but most boring way I've seen to farm coins (and xp) is this one (not my video):
Basically replay the first mission, fast stealth up to the 2 first doors and then jump off the railing twice to restart the mission.
Each section gave me 137 coins (as I continued playing the amount increased) per run. So 274 coins per run. A run takes about 1:45 if you walk. In 10 minutes I tested I got 1653 coins. Multiply that by 6 and you get 9918 an hour (theoretically). Better find a bunch of videos to watch on the side to make this more tolerable.
Or better yet listen to a podcast like Face Jam !
You can listen to Face Jam here !
It should be noted that the more you level up the more coins you gain per run, but also the upgrade cost seems to periodically increase too.

This method is also really good to grind the melee mastery 10 achievement and the kill an enemy 3 seconds after cloaking.

Good podcast recommendation.

This achievement requires a lot of grinding. It requires you to spend coins and acquire every single improved weapon upgrade for every gun. It will probably be the last achievement you'll get in this game. I personally haven't unlocked this yet, but I will share my knowledge on farming coins.
Go around each location and kill enemies. They drop around 1-5 coins. This is a very small amount of coins, but you can be doing your mastery level 10 weapon achievements too while doing this method.
Loot supply crates. There are three types of crates which give you coins. There are wooden crates everywhere across the map. Simply break them and you will find a few coins inside them, around 1-5 as well. There are yellow and white crates. Opening these crates will reward you with 50 total coins. There are also yellow and black crates. These reward you with 100 coins. Crates refill every 24 hours.
Complete "Action Started" side quests. These quests ask you to do simple things in the map, such as planting a car bomb, or rescuing civilians. You will receive 200 coins upon completing these actions.
Go to Abby for your daily/weekly quests. You can usually get a few coins from completing daily missions and weekly missions. Some are really easy, such as double jumping 20 times.
You can also help other people with their missions. Completing their missions also grants you with the rewards. This includes experience, coins and ability points. I recommend this method if you are farming both coins and ability points for the "More human than human" achievement.
There's nothing really you can do except for these methods. Happy achievement hunting everyone!

This is going to cost you a TON of coins. I'll provide a couple strategies to grind coins which you will inevitably have to do post-story. I am going to assume by this point in the game you have the skill that puts collectibles on the map for you. This is definitely critical for strategy one.
Strategy One - Daily Runs
I consider daily runs both the runs around the different maps for the chests as well as knocking out your daily challenges. Doing them both at the same time will maximize your potential coinage. The boxes respawn every 24 hours, but do not respawn for other people's worlds. While pushing through the different areas it's also important to be on the lookout for the helping people side missions that Abby gives. Those give around 200 coins a pop.
Strategy Two - Winkler Runs
Matty has an awesome demonstration of stealth moving through the first two sections of Winkler and then suiciding to reset. You are netting just around 275 coins per section. I ended up using this strategy when I had done my dailies and I wanted to be finished with the game quicker.

You also can change the date to respawn the boxes, it works on pc at least playing solo.

For each weapon, you must purchase every initial upgrade plus all ‘Improve’ upgrades in all three mod brands. The first weapon you can upgrade is the Pistole at Level 15.
There are 49 total attachments for the 12 upgradable weapons (no upgrades for melee weapons). Each of those attachments has three mod brands (Nadel, Tempo, Stier), and each mod brand has two upgrades (initial and ‘Improve’). So in total, there will be 294 upgrades to obtain which will cost you roughly 160,000 coins.
Refer to Banker (10G) for tips on how to farm coins.

You need to get advanced improvements for ALL types of weapons (and not just one, as it is written in the platinum tooltip), which will cost approximately 170,000-200,000 coins

An easy way to farm coins.

Then we leave the game and change the number for tomorrow
And so on until victory. 1000+ coins at a time.

For solo farming of coins, the best way, in my opinion, is to restart the mission Brooder-1 on dangerous difficulty, it goes through very quickly, here you can download weapons and earn good experience, 800 coins per run, it probably takes about 5 minutes if you practice speedrunning this mission
