Click to throw your melee weapon (i used the Hatchet).
This uses ammo which you can get from the red 'fire axe' looking things on walls. You can also recover the ones you just threw.
You can upgrade certain skills to make this a 1 hit kill on most enemies.

Thrown weapons require you to have more than one melee weapon in your inventory. The default keyboard key for throwing your melee weapon is the middle button of your mouse.
Like all achievements in this game there is no Xbox related achievement tracking like there is on the One version of the game.

To throw a weapon, press when you are outside of melee range.
Throwing weapons first become available during the first mission, ‘Der Nachtfalter’. They are located next to a tutorial terminal after you power jump up a shaft and emerge in the bowels of the zeppelin. Throughout the game, they are randomly found sticking out of wooden pallets (hatchets) or desks/shelves (knives). You can carry up to three, but double that once you unlock the Muscle tree perk ‘6-point Blade Belt’ after you reach Level 20.
If you have not unlocked this by the time you have completed the campaign, keep replaying the first mission by speaking with Abby and fight your way to this area to replenish your stock (guaranteed location). This is also a good mission to kill unarmored enemies, making most kills with one hit. There are also a few lying around the Catacombs that respawn each time you return to it. You can also pick up the weapons that you have thrown.
Note: Unlocking the abilities ‘Super-Kinetic Throw’ and ‘Blade Annihilator’ in the Muscle tree increases your chances of one-hit kills and killing enemies wearing armor. These are available at Level 10 and 30 respectively.
This is not tracked separately in the ‘Statistics’ menu, but counts towards your overall kills.
