The later levels becomes harder, I used lots of blowtorch and girders to take cover while dropping out killing 1or2 worms then back to cover. The A.I grenades and rockets are near perfect so make sure your cover is good.
Save some of the good supply for last enemies like jetpack and ninja ropes, incase you get stuck down below on a level, you can however make girders and use blowtorch to work your way back up.
I also recommend to use the poison strike when you see a group of worms, then airstrike or shotgun them later on.
Important: Take a break if you get stuck and come back later, or the next day and beat the level/levels. This game can become very frustrating, specially when at the last worm and you mess up, or the A.I. gets a perfect hit. Best of luck.
**NOTE**There is a way you can ensure the game won't delete your progress. After you are done playing, return to the Main Menu, choose Help & Options, then choose Save. This has worked for me every time even after dashboarding. - justinman114.

I completed 15, got bored and came back the next day to finnish it off only to find all my progress had been erased. Anyone else have this problem or am I the only one?

Just beat it in one sitting and no achievement. I backed out and re-singed in to find all progress reset once again. I'll go re-download the game and the dlc, again, but I imagine it will be a while before I am able sit down to beat it once more let alone just play it. Any suggestions?

You do not need to earn this achievement in one sitting. At the end of your session return to the Main Menu, choose Help & Options, then Save.
This isn't an easy achievement, especially as the levels progress. So keep your more powerful weapons back for when the difficulty ratchets up. Poison Strikes and Airstrikes are good for groups. Jetpacks, Girders, Blowtorches and Ninja Ropes help you climb back up to high levels. Shotguns are good for dealing high, close range damage.
