Okay, Powerpyx. This time you win. Follow the strategy of using the axe + lifesteal buff.

My battle: I dodged the first three hits, then hold
for a charged attack, leaving the boss weak to a backstab. I continued holding and charging attacks followed by 
attacks until the boss entered phase 2. Before he jumped at me, I already charged the attack to hit the boss, then dodged because the STOMP DOES A LOT OF DAMAGE. I continued to not be afraid of taking damage and attacked the boss frequently until he died.
I recommend having two buffs available (normally you only have one, but on the left in the skill tree you can get another charge to buff the weapon with life steal)
