How to unlock the Drop the Mic achievement in WWE 2K17 - Definitive Guide

I had a rivalry with one of the game's created guys (Blade, I think). His promo was terrible so I won almost by default. So I'd suggest have a rivalry with a really low tier guy (created guy, Curtis Axel, etc) and use that as your shot at winning.

Can someone walk me through this on how I can get this in universe mode? I've defeated 2 superstars in promos but I guess they weren't my rivals. Help.....

A little more step by step would be nice on this.

Go to Attributes and increase your Mic Performance. I put on great matches (average around 4.9 stars) but kept having lousy promos (average around 600 VC). My Mic Performance was rated 60. I increased it to 80 and my next promo, while not perfect, was decent enough to get me around 6,400 VC. I ended up with over 20,000 VC for the night after another 5 star performance AND even moved up a rank.

I was able to increase my Mic Performance up to 98 by the time I faced off with a rival in a promo. I was feuding with a made up character, Cory, for the NXT title. I ended up almost maxing my bar out, while Cory's bar was only half full. I got the achievement when the match screen loaded.

This one can actually be pretty annoying. First off actually getting a promo against a rival can be pretty rare in MyCareer, though I found them more common while in NXT. Therefore it might be easier to manually simulate each show in WWE Universe until there is automatically a promo segment with two rivals, I found actually placing rivals in a promo myself pretty buggy.

As for the promo itself, if you have high mic skills, you will be told the crowd type automatically. The options are, along with a good direction to go in for a strong positive reaction:

Respectful: Praise the audience/be respectful
Disrespectful: Enjoy insults to your opponent and the company.
Family Friendly: Similar to respectful, try to keep it PG.
Hardcore: Demand respect, being brash and showing a willingness to fight.

Doing the opposite to these will get a strong negative reaction, which is equally OK as long as you get a reaction, and be consistent (i.e. don’t switch between face and heel). If you don’t defeat your rival, close the game and reload to try again.
