How to unlock the Skunkworks achievement in XCOM: Enemy Unknown - Definitive Guide

As the achievement detail explains, one needs to complete every Available Project in The Foundry. As you complete each project, it will become greyed-out in the list, with a notation of "Project Completed" in the project detail.

Please note, finishing all of these projects requires a sizable amount of these resources:
Elerium
Alien Alloys
Weapon Fragments
Various alien corpses

So, it might be smarter not to sell any of those items on the "Gray Market," until your projects are completed.

Here is a list of ALL 18 Available Projects to be completed in The Foundry:

Heavy Weapons Platform
Alien Grenades -- (requires capturing Alien Grenade)
Improved Medkit -- (requires Thin Man autopsy)
Improved Arc Thrower -- (requires researching Elerium)
Advanced Repair -- (requires Heavy Floater autopsy)
S.H.I.V. Laser -- (requires researching Beam Weapons)
S.H.I.V. Plasma -- (requires researching Plasma Rifle)
S.H.I.V. Repair -- (requires researching EMP Cannon)
Drone Capture -- (requires Drone autopsy)
Ammo Conservation -- (requires Muton autopsy)
Advanced Flight
Advanced Construction -- (requires Sectopod autopsy)
Improved Pistol I
Improved Pistol II
Improved Pistol III -- (requires researching Plasma Pistol)
S.H.I.V. Suppression
Stealth Satellites -- (requires researching Alien Nav Computer)
S.C.O.P.E. Upgrade -- (requires researching Weapon Fragments)

How do I get Alien Grenades?

If you use your Arc Thrower on the aliens, the items they carry won't explode (as when they are killed) -- some varieties carry Alien Grenades, which you will recover at the end of the mission (I believe the earliest varieties to carry them are the Mutons and the Sectoid Commanders). Once acquired, you will see them available in a soldier's possible loadout items for his/her backpack.

This isn't really a race if you just hold off on doing the required research. As long as you don't complete those, the game doesn't progress to the next step and you can just keep scanning and farming materials, UFOs, etc until you finish all your foundry projects (or whatever else you're working on)....seems especially useful later in the game when you're getting more and more money from the council each month.

As my case, I was just missing Improved Pistol III at last. Then I capture a Sectoid (the small alien you encounter in the tutorial mission.) Then there will be new research for plasma pistol. Once the research completed, you can find Improved Pistol III in the foundry.

I'd also be cautious about unloading on "excess" corpses of some alien types. The Advanced Flight research project isn't available until late in the game but requires 2 Cyberdisk corpses. Those enemies stop appearing after (spoiler) you complete the Overseer mission. I'm stuck with 1/2 corpses hoping I get lucky and they appear in a terror mission before I finish the game.

Sol, the same thing happened to me, but with the improved medkit. I sold off all my thin men corpses before that project, so I'm basically hosed. I still have one more playthrough to get to my 5th (and get the appropriate achievement), so I'll get it there, but that was just a bit frustrating.

Zatosan, were you not able to get any more Council Missions? Council Missions almost always put you up against Thin Men -- and, if you save before the Council Mission is received, and you happen not to get one of the many missions offering Thin Men, you can always re-load, come to the same point, and get a different mission.

I have 17/18 projects completed and just needed 1 single cyberdisk wreck like Sol Invictus XI...BUT I finally found one after 5 months of skipping things and doing the bare minimum amount of missions until one spawned!

Just a UFO crash for anyone curious, terror missions were only bringing in Sectopods.

You need the Heavy Plasma (and therefore the Sniper Plasma) to get the S.H.I.V. Plasma project, not just the Rifle Plasma. Which means a damn mountain of Weapon Fragments.

If someones i trying to get this achievement faster, you may want to hold off on doing any weapons research that uses up your precious weapons fragments. Your going to need somewhere in the range of 250 or so weapon fragments to do all the foundry researches. You can also save before buying everything, pop the achievement and then reload your game.

Note that what I did for this trophy was to wait until before the Gollop chamber section, at which point money and time was no longer an issue. I then completed every project that I had not yet undertaken. Alternatively, if you want the trophy early you can save up money and purchase all the projects then reload a save file to get all your credits back.

These projects are quite expensive in terms of money and materials, and not all of them are equally useful. Before you start completing the trophy, it is recommended to unlock yourself a 50% discount on these projects, as a special bonus from Asia. To do this, you either need to choose Asia as the starting location, or cover all the countries on this “continent” with satellites. Bonuses from interrogating aliens reduce the research time, but, unfortunately, not the cost.

The game is quite linear, and certain events do not occur until you complete another event, for example, it is not necessary to immediately capture the first base, I myself started playing not long ago, but a friend has been playing on the PC for a long time and he said that he captured the first base when his soldiers were everyone is in the last ranks with cool armor and powerful guns, so if you don’t write them off, you can research and build everything you need
