How to unlock the Buzzkill achievement in XDefiant - Definitive Guide

Each faction has an ultra that can be built up through kills, assists, capturing zones, picking up coins in hot shot, etc. Once an enemy activates their ultra, you can kill them to "cancel" it. I've found the easiest way to do this is to kill a cleaner while he has his flamethrower activated or echelon when they activate sonar goggles, however, the echelon gets a 1 shot pistol so you either have to kill them quick or hope they have terrible aim.

If in future anyone decides to boost this, whoever is building their ultra to boost people - they should pick the cleaner class from Division

The reason is that once they build their ultra and press LB+RB to use it, as long as they don't fire their flamethrower and let someone kill them, upon respawn they'll be able to use the ultra over and over (as long as they don't fire the flamethrower)

This means only 1 person needs to build their ultra and then everyone on enemy team can get their 3 kills for the achievement

Makes it a lot quicker to boost

Seems like I get into games where nobody actually uses them

Not entirely sure about this one but, I got kill progress towards this achievement with assists on people using ultras. May be a case that all you have to do is enough damage to someone using an ultra and then someone else gets the kill and it'll count for you. Would need confirming of course though.

The phantom ultra is another easy one. Just run inside their bubble and kill them.really easy to spot them when they are using their ultra unlike the other ones.

In addition to charging slow, they reset if you change faction mid match.

This definitely doesn’t track properly. You’ll get “ultra cancelled” on the screen but no progression.

I’ve encountered an achievement bug. I completed the Requirements for Grand Tour, MVP, and Buzz Kill. BUT none of which would unlock upon requirement completion. What i did was clicked on “All Achievements” under the Achievements tab, and upon screen transition all 3 pushed on through and unlocked. Give it a try if you’re still stuck.

They charge really slowly I generally only get my ultra once or twice a game so the opportunity to get these are very slim. You just have to be at the right place at the right time. Something that will come on the way to level 50. I agree that The flamethrower cleaner is by far the easiest to kill.

An ultra can be earned through score and is the best ability for each faction.

How to recognize the ultras:
Libertad: Their character and their sorroundings will turn orange and they will have a lot of health
Phantom: They will be sorrounded by a gigant red shield bubble
Cleaners: They will have a flamethrower
Echelon: You will see a pop up on your screen saying You are being revelead by enemy googles or something like that
Deadsec: You will be unable to use your abilities and your minimap will be blocked by a Deadsec sign

To cancel an ultra you can either kill the enemy, which is easier to do against Cleaners and Echelon (if you kill a Deadsec after they popped their ultra this will not count) but can also be done against Phantoms, if you get inside their bubble and kill them from behind, and Libertad, you will have to have at least one teammate shooting them at the same time, or you can equip the Deadsec faction, hold your ultra until you recognize an enemy has popped theirs and active yours, that will count as an ultra cancelled.

Another way to kill a Phantom is using the fire bomb from the Cleaners, running inside their bubble and popping you ability, which will probably get you killed but the Phantom will die after a second or two.

Each faction has an ultra ability which can be activated by using l1.png + r1.png once the ability has been charged up, the meter is shown at the bottom of the screen in the centre. You can read up on what each faction ultra does within the in-game menus.

Due to the time it takes to fill the charge to activate the ultra, you're unlikely to be running into ultras all that frequently and some can be a bit difficult to spot even when activated. I would say the two easiest to spot ultras are the Phantom and Incinerator and both are likely to be activated by players near to objective points, providing you the best opportunity to kill them.

Even though they're not highly common throughout a match, I would suggest you don't give this trophy too much thought as it will most likely come naturally as you play the game and you'll end up unlocking without even realising you had got to 5 ultra cancellations. Given how busy the game can be at times, you may miss it but there is a score message which pops up when you successfully cancel an ultra which states 'Enemy ultra cancelled'.
