How to unlock the It Takes Two achievement in Yakuza 0 - Definitive Guide

This is a missable achievement during chapter 10 main story.

This is a guide from psnprofiles.com

After you fight the homeless hunters in the main storyline there will be a scene where the bearded homeless man will say Oda is waiting for him by the entrance. If you're not sure that you'll have the heat to perform the heat actions say "I need time to prepare" to Oda and go stock up on alcohol to fill your heat meter faster or get Tauriner ++ to instantly fill up your heat meter. After you stocked up go back to West Park and save if you're on legendary difficulty and then say you're ready. After you say you're ready there will be a lengthy cutscene at Tojo Headquarters between the chairman and Tachibana. After that scene plays out Kiryu will have to fight 20 some off guards so he can meet back up with Tachibana, and Oda. Once you've kicked the door down and met back up with them both you can perform co-op moves by using the heat action that becomes available when either Oda or Tachibana grabs an enemy or whenever Kiryu is surrounded and Oda or Tachibana is right next to you. There are more than enough enemies in this sequence, so doing this three times shouldn't be an issue. Wait around long enough and your partners will eventually grab the enemy.

I wasn't able to trigger a co-op takedown using the rush style. Use brawler or beast instead.

When does this pop? I've finished that section now and seemingly got 4 coop moves done but no achievement.

I presumed the 3 could be done with a combination of both partners but does it have to be 3 moves with one of the other characters instead of shared among them both?

Edit: just read that they have to die from the attack. I guess 2 of them didn't count maybe?

Perhaps, if it's not that then the achievements bug in this game might still be a thing.

Yeah have been conscious of the achievement bug and have ensured no idling or anything. Don't want to take any chances so it's definitely not that. Will have to try again I think.

The heat bar depletes so quickly too

The biggest reason why I recommend bringing stuff like Tauriner ++ or Stamina Royale in case if it's needed. Also helps if you've done real estate to the point you've unlocked the locked trees for all 3 styles so you can unlock the ability to reduce heat loss and to do more damage for that style.

This can also be done in Chapter 14. When you meet Tachibana in Little Asia in his hospital room, about 8 enemies show up that you have to fight. There is only one set of enemies, though, so you need to be careful not to kill them all too fast. Hit one now and then to keep your heat up while waiting for Tachibana to grab one, but don't kill more than you need to or you'll have to replay the section. Luckily it isn't hard to get back to if you saved before the Little Asia section starts.

I used rush and got the achievement. You wait for tachibana to put his arms under theirs from behind and you use the heat action. Otherwise normal grabbing wont display Y as a clickable option

For me heat wasn't nearly as much of a problem as being in the right place to execute. Took me 3 tries. Brawler style, mostly used X attacks to chip enemies and keep heat up while watching for a teammate to grab.

Pops instantly, so if you get 3 co op heat attacks and no cheevo, die on purpose so you don't have to skip through the cutscenes to try again.

No need to restart, plenty of enemies spawn after the first three are gone. Also there is multiple levels with coop chances after this.

Used Dragon of Dojima, I have it maxed out on the level 2 skill tree, each co-op action was an instant kill, just wait for the grab. Any angle I was at the Y button appeared.

I only used 3 Taurine ++. Waiting for the grab then taking the medicine is more efficient I found out as well.

Also I thought the sequence this guide was referring to was
the sequence after you meet up with Oda and Tachibana where there is only three enemies. After you kill these three enemies there is more of them after a quick cut scene.

This trophy is missable.

In chapter 10, Tachibana and Oda will go to Tojo HQ with you. Prior to going, stock your inventory full of items to restore heat, like Staminan Royales from the pharmacy. During the fighting portions in Tojo HQ, you meet up with Tachibana and Oda and they fight alongside you after the first room. Wait around for them to grapple with enemies. Once they are grappling with someone, you can run up and push triangle to perform a co-op attack as long as you have enough heat. Since you will lose your heat waiting for them to grab people, throw some punches once in a while, and drink your potions as needed to maintain high heat. It should not actually take very long to get the trophy if you just dodge around and let the enemies swarm your allies. They do the grapple very frequently if you let them. The trophy should pop the moment you get your third kill. Bear in mind that this will only count if the enemy dies from it, so set the difficulty down and use your strongest fighting stance if that becomes an issue.

As the other solution says, this is earned in chapter 10 and can be missed. However there is an easier way than just waiting for Oda or Tachibana to grapple.

You just need to make sure you've unlocked the Extra Resolute Counter master ability for Kiryu's Brawler style. It's first unlocked ability from Bacchus and is attached to the second yellow Boost Health node.

With this ability unlocked all you need to do is be at 2nd Heat Gauge and then just stand and wait to be attacked and counter by holding Square or Triangle. Tachibana or Oda will automatically join in on the counter attack and after 3 you get the trophy.

I unlocked this trophy shortly into the second area and before either Tachibana or Oda grappled their first enemy.
