How to unlock the Unwavering Shogi Player achievement in Yakuza 3 Remastered - Definitive Guide

You can play shogi at Shogi Ryukyu, to the west of the Monorail Station. Find the staircase along the wall of the buildings. Shogi is basically Japanese chess with some extra rules but luckily for us this achievement is easy and doesn’t require us to do a full-length match with the AI we simply can do the challenges. For this achievement, we will be doing challenge 1. Here’s a video of someone getting this achievement by doing this challenge.

The shogi building is near the monorail station in Okinawa. Pick challenge 1 as it's the easiest game to win without moving your king. The objective is to take the opponent's king without moving your own king. It plays very similar to chess although shogi has a few extra elements to it like reusing your opponents captured pieces and powering up your own. Simply put you can ignore all that and focus on moving your pieces to take the opponent's king. You need to trap the AI in a corner with two pieces so you get a checkmate (it won't work with a single piece as they can always escape).

Refer to the video below for the exact moves to do if you need help: All credit goes to the original uploader of the video.

Download the Shogi mobile app. Set the AI to the strongest level, now you definitely need to make sure that in Yakuza you go first, and in the app the AI makes the first move. Next, we simply repeat the AI moves from the application in the game itself as Kiryu. I beat it this way in Yakuza 0 and Kiwami without any problems.

The easiest way to play is Challenge 1. There you have a full set of pieces and your opponent only has pawns, it won’t be difficult to win without moving the king
