How to unlock the Amon Defeated achievement in Yakuza Kiwami - Definitive Guide

In order to unlock the ability to fight Amon, you fist need to do a couple prerequisites. First, you need to complete all sub stories except this one. Second, you need to max out all of your abilities, this includes the dragon abilities so this will take a while and more than likely be the last thing you do in the main story as some sub-stories are locked until chapter 13.

Amon himself is no walk in the park. It is recommended to purchase the Dragon mail from the completion points vendor, and bring a fair amount of toughness infinities. For the first part, the recommended method is to use the tiger drop ability to work away at his health bars. Once you get 4 of his 8 health bars down, he will mix in a back-flip move that will throw grenades at you so dodge out of the way of this attack. Continue to fight away until his 8th health bar is changed.

After the 8th bar is gone, the second half of the fight starts. Amon switches his fighting style and pulls out a knife making him a more powerful mad-dog of shimono. If you get stabbed, watch your health it burns deep. When Amon starts to do a spin move, quickly dodge away from it because it can drain your health almost instantly. The recommended strategy is similar to when Majima uses his spin move in that you need to hit Amon after he stops spinning he will do a swipe attack and after he is vulnerable at this point. Keep using tiger drop to damage him. You can also tiger kick him as he is running around and you get comfortable predicting where he will be. be careful when he pops purple heat because his sprint move gets almost stupid fast and hard to avoid. Take down all of his health bars and pick up his sunglasses same as Yakuza 0 to unlock this difficult achievement and be able to taste the end of the Yakuza Kiwami achievement grind.

Just to add to this, I used only Rush and Dragon style in this fight. When he is running around the arena, switch to Rush style and try to quickstep as much as you can behind him. This acts essentially as drafting and allows you to fill your Heat meter quite easily. After this I just used a combination of mostly Tiger Drop with a few Sumo Slaps thrown in here and there. Just beware to dodge immediately as the Sumo Slap cinematic is finishing because he will wake up with a spin attack that will hit you because you're too close.

I just got this achievement last night and at first I was having an issue getting the timing on the tiger drop during the second phase of the fight. What I did find out was if you use the heat action with the "patriarch driver" (golf club) weapon in dragon style it does a massive amount of damage. Its comparable to how heat actions with the dagger deal massive amount of damage to bosses in Yakuza 0

Dude constantly drops grenades on me and I have no idea how to get him to not do that. I've seen videos where he doesn't do that for the entire fight, but he does that to me even when he's at full health.

Thanks HUN playmore I used your technique and it worked a charm. God knows how you're supposed to lay a finger on him without that Sumo Slap.

worth noting you can temporarily switch to easy and it still counts

If you have the Golden Pistol CP Reward, it makes the fight trivial. He blocks or dodges about half the shots in his second form, but blocked shots keep him at bay and hits build up your Heat. Once it’s full, swap to Dragon and Sumo Slap him twice. Rinse, repeat.

Sumo Slap FTW. Took me 2 tries because I didn't bring enough drinks for my heat first go round, but it's the only move I used for the entire thing.

This might only work on easy but you can cheese him with Sumo Slap (in Dragon, walk far away from the enemy with holding RB to lock on then press the heat action when it shows up). If your character is maxed out (48 in every category) you don't need anything but a full heat meter at the start and 5 items that give you a full heat bar. Staminan Spark definitely works. Just back off with lock on and activate. Each slap takes a health bar away and you can do two with every refill. I don't think I got hit once. It doesn't matter what he does because the skill autoconnects.

Total bullshit fight, but I got it on my 4th try. First phase he's got two stances defensive and offensive-ish. If he blocks the vast majority of your attacks, just spam the bitch slap counter (dunno the buttons but I was pressing LB+RB+Y at the same time) to get your heat up then do a heat attack. If he's on the offense with the grenade backflip bullcrap, just grab the demonfire dagger and go to town on his ass. After a couple slashes you can do a heat attack and he should go down pretty quick. For the second phase, like some of the comments above I'd say stay the hell away from him and use your stamian royale/spark to fill up your heat gauge then heat attack or unequip the dagger and do the sumo slap move.

First try for me. He was pretty easy but packs a surprising punch in phase 2: bring sparks that you buy from your casino winnings and just pound those down to have enough heat to stop him in his tracks. Or just spam demonfire dagger heat movements

This is the final subplot that unlocks after you did every other subplot and finished your skill trees by doing Majima Everywhere and learning all the moves from Komaki.

I found a way to sort of cheese this fight. To prep I wore dragon mail from the CP rewards, an amulet that made my brawler do more damage that you get from a subplot, and a full inventory of staminan sparks that I bought as a casino reward for 1000 points each. Now, try to fight Amon as best you can (I used brawler, not sure if this works in other stances) and when he manages to knock you down, you can use a heat move to attack an enemy as you get up. The only requirement is that the enemy is nearby. So just drink your potion when you are knocked down, use the heat move as you get up, and watch his health melt. Once he has a knife there's also a heat move you can use as he attacks you, but the timing on this is tougher. In any case, with 40 full health and energy refills, you have enough leeway to probably be able to kill Amon even if you mistime and waste a lot of heat.

Obviously the ideal way to fight this guy is to actually just counter his moves, but the method I described should get you a kill even if you are terrible at this game.
