How to unlock the Gear Fanatic achievement in Yakuza: Like a Dragon - Definitive Guide
Collecting 100 gear may seem like a lot but you should get it relatively fast if you follow theses steps
1. Open every silver Safe you find!! Once you progress far enough in the story, you will get a key that allows you to unlock all the safes in Yokohama. The safes have items that range from Gear to Battle items
2. Buy gear from Weapon shops! Visit the gear shops and buy gear from them. Price ranges may vary but that’s a good place to go to get better gear
3. The Workshop! Once you progress far enough , you’ll unlock the workshop which allows you to convert the materials you find around the over-world and loot from enemies to new gear you can use

This achievement popped for me when I changed my job at Hello Work - maybe try this too if you think you should already have 100 items.

This trophy is for collecting 100 pieces of gear (weapons, armor, accessories). These can be found in silver safes, won from substories or part-time hero quests and occasionally from battles, or purchased in shops.
You should try to get as many unique items as possible. This is really helped by the part-time hero quests, as most give you a piece of gear as a reward. Also, the cat hunting quest well give you 2 million yen, which will let you but a bunch of stuff.
Most other guides claim that duplicates count, but I found that there are limits to how many of a single item will count. For example, I tried to buy 99 of the cheapest item and this didn't unlock the trophy. I also tried buying four of each cheap item around town and still no luck. Only after I had at least 80 unique items did this unlock.
