How to unlock the Ryu Ga Gotoku achievement in Yakuza: Like a Dragon - Definitive Guide

Though this is a straightforward achievement there is an easy way to level, along with your job level.

Use the Kamurocho Theatre Dungeon. You can so all the fights in the first section or run from them (your choice). Get to the checkpoint, heal up and save. Go to the next area. You can do the fights or run. Once you get the the group with the Invested Vagabond, DO NOT RUN. I personally used Kasuga, Joon-Gi Han, Nanba and Adachi. Use the area/multiple characters skills to take out all the other enemies. The Vagabond will always take 1dmg but don't worry, he isn't that strong. I used Joon-Gi's "Rapid Shot" and Nanba's Pyro Breath" to destroy his health. There will be the odd time that the Vagabond runs from battle, this will be irritating but stick with it. Once you beat him & the group, you will net 459k EXP, 413K Job EXP, and ~15k Yen. Don't bank on this for a way to earn Yen, use the Milennium Tower dungeon and the fight against fake Saejima (5 Mil every time you beat him) for that. This isn't the only Vagabond in tier 2. Move ahead a bit more and you will find another one but with normal Yakuza this time. This go around is a bit easier as the Yakuza are easier than the last group, do the same thing you did with the first and get yourself another 458k EXP & 413k Job EXP. There are 2 more groups that have another Vagabond a little deeper in the dungeon. Run back to the checkpoint, run back down and repeat as long as you want (the trek back will suck but trust me it's worth it). I would also suggest using the Yakuza Training Gear to up the EXP earned if you have it.

Hope this helps!

Any multi-hit attacks work against the vagabond. Rapid Shot is mentioned but there are also several host, breaker, clerk, and even that one idol skill which do 4+ hits per activation.

I'm not sure why but sometimes Divine Shot is able to 1 shot the vagabond, not that im complaining but it saves time since I can finish the fight with orbital strike, making for faster fights.
EDIT: Just use rapid shot on the vagabond and then oribital strike for the finish, it may not work early on but later it will work wonders.

Any Invested Vagabond is great (as long as they not run from the fight). Also in the first underground are 2 of them.

Excellent guide, thanks!

In my experience, if you're running with Hitman Joon gi & Host Kasuga, its possible to dispatch the first Vagabond group on B2F with just two turns. Its not a perfect method but it does save some time so here's what happened for me when I tried.

When you reach B2F, the first two fights can be run away from. Even if one party member is unable to run, try on your next turn and it will work eventually. Better than fighting them for next to no EXP.
The third fight on the path was with the Vagabond group. From what I can gather of my runs, if I managed to approach the group while Joon gi was lagging far behind, I could select Divine Shot and move the target just one person to the right. He would automatically reposition to a line of sight where the Divine Shot itself would take care of the Vagabond, leaving Kasuga to clear up with Rose skill or Orbital Laser.
If that didn't work, I'd do the Orbital Laser anyway, then get the other two party members to guard and somehow it was Joon gi's turn again to Rapid Shot and finish the Vagabond.

You will likely get to Level 50+ just from completing the story, but will need to grind out the rest of the levels to unlock this achievement. You realistically need to hit the level cap of 99 to complete the True Millenium Tower anyway, so this will come along the way if you plan to get Victory of the Millennium (80G).

The preferred method to grind out levels would be using the Kamurocho Sewers dungeon. You can find "Invested Vagabond" enemies inside groups of enemies here which essentially mimic "metal" enemies from many other JRPGs and offer huge experience bonuses if you can defeat them before they run away. Each group of enemies with a Vagabond inside will yield nearly 450k level experience and 400k job experience. These enemies however will only take one point of damage per normal hit (more for a ciritical), so be sure to use multi-hit skills to maximize your damage output such as Nanba's Pyro Breath or Joon-Gi's Rapid Shot. Use the route below to kill all four Vagabond enemies (running from all other fights with lb.png), then go back up to the first floor of the dungeon to save, then return down below to respawn the enemies and repeat. Make sure you equip a Dragonfish Tenugui on Kasuga (found HERE), and two job xp boosting items on everyone else to speed up that process). Whenever you max out a job for a character you should leave and switch to a new one, prioritizing learning new elemental skills so every character has fire, ice, and lightning abilities. Leveling multiple jobs will give permanent stat boosts to your characters even when that job is not equipped, so it's helpful to continue doing this even after hitting character Level 99.

To acquire this trophy you will have to reach player level 70 with Kasuga (Not job rank). Once you beat the game, you will likely be close to this because the final boss of the game is level 60, and the game hits a big difficulty spike in chapter 12 that will likely force you to level up to the mid-50s. If you plan on earning the platinum, you are going to naturally reach player level 99 (max level) since the True Final Millennium Tower will require several jobs maxed out, and player level is shared throughout jobs. A nice grinding spot for chapter 12 is the Sotenbori Battle Arena, but if you have beaten the game already, then you will want to grind levels in the Kamurocho Underground Sewers by defeating the Invested Vagabond on floor B2F.

You can attach two experience boosters to Kasuga and it will give a double increase in experience. X2 is the maximum. Can't get any more.
Experience boosters include Tengui of Tranquility (reduces maximum mana) and Yakuza Training Suit (reduces stats).

In the dungeons (Ijincho and Kamurocho sewers) the character Wealthy Ragamuffin is encountered. When he confronts you, kill him first, he will drop a huge amount of experience. Focus on attacks that deal many hits in one turn (for example, Han Chungi has divine shooting or frequent fire, Zhao has dragon fangs, Saeko has a dizzying rhythm). Don't be put off, he is only present for the first 2 turns, then he simply removes himself from the battle.

I also recommend drinking Kiwami lemonade during this battle, story battles with strong bosses and skirmishes in city stories - it will also give a boost to the experience gained.

I wouldn’t focus on getting this trophy separately, because... "Victory of the Millennium" is ahead and without level 99 it is problematic to get this trophy. We pump up in the first tower, get levels, money and improve weapons
