How to unlock the Mad King. achievement in Yes, Your Grace - Definitive Guide

So lots of requirements for this one, but basically all you have to do is play as the biggest jerk you possibly can. You have to do an almost full run through the game to get everything, the last event needed should be aureleas death. Massive spoilers ahead, but hey that’s why we’re here isn’t it? I’ll try to do these in the order you encounter them.

Edit: I apologize for my original guide was out of order. I realigned them and added some extra bits to make it more clear.

Beginning of the game: You’ll encounter a deserter. Kill his nameless behind

Also murder the Radovian bandit captured early onto the game. I cannot stress enough the you should literally kill every human or animal the game lets you, and you’ll be golden. Some call it bloodlust, you’ll call it tactical efficiency

During the army gathering phase for the battle against Radovia.

Kill Jovan: Lord Jovan is one of the many lords you can ask for help against Radovia. Call him as soon as you get the chance for a sleep over. He’ll inform you that he will join your army as long as you bring his friend Sir Frederick on board first. Invite Freddy the next day. He will say he will join only if you expose Noamsky the Dragonslayer as the fraud he is by...sending him to be ambushed and murdered? Wow. This dude is a great fella. Next day invite Noamsky and rat Frederick out to him, warning him of the attack. Next day Frederick will show up and call you a doodoo head, then leave. Fast forward and in a few days playing normally and Lord Jovan will be presented to you by your guards, having killed Sir Frederick. Turns out ol Freddy beat his wife on a daily basis whenever he had so much as a grumpy morning, and Jovan saved her and killed him in defense of his wife. What a noble, honorable man! Off with his head!

After the fight with Radovia

Marry Asalia to Varid. Once Ivo turns on you you’ll have a kings summit meeting. One of the kings, Varid, notes your 12 year old daughter “looks mature enough” and is “energetic!” Yeah you know where that’s going. He says he’ll give you an army of you let him marry her. agree to send your daughter, and only interesting child you have; away with Creepy McBadTouch. Three down. (Hey we knew this was going to be rough)

Kill the Radovian Survivors: A bunch of Radovian refugees will arrive and beg for mercy and a warm place to sleep. You should by now know what to do. In fact there will be a few instances of Radovians entering your castle. Specifically the lone bandit earlier, the women and children begging for asylum, and the captured Radovian soldiers at the wall, waiting to be hung. Best to kill them every chance you get, you sweetheart. Good for another achievement too.

Kill Beyran: some time after the Radovia conflict, Beyran will be brought to you. Looks like he didn’t want to fight and was trying to find a better life for his people, but we attacked first. Haha wow what a misunderstanding! Egg on my face, amirite? Hang him.

Let Aurelea die: there will be a point in the game where you have to perform a ritual to make your wife have a baby boy. Fart around and ignore the instructions and she will die -horribly so- during the birth. That should be your last achievement down, you horrible person you.

The achievement should pop here if you did everything right. If you for some reason let the soldier live in the beginning do I have good news for you.

Final battle

If you didn’t do it before, Kill the deserter. Again. Dude really should’ve learned in that flashback.

That’s all what’s listed on here, but I’ve done a few extra dastardly deeds to make sure it was done correctly. I’ve heard some people have had an issue with not getting it without killing Celiani, killing Ivo, etc, so I am going to add a few extra descriptions. They aren’t in the achievement descriptor but still “good” ideas to do for completion sake

Kill Audry: during the trial for the kings death, you will gather evidence and hear testimony, but that sounds too hard and you’ve got things to do. So instead of accusing someone, keep choosing the option to find a new solution. Audry will speak up and claim he killed the king to save your stupid kingly butt. Hey thanks, man! Enjoy the afterlife! What a guy that Audry.

Kill Cedani: Hey at least you don’t ACTUALLY murder an innocent child! You just facilitate her death! Yay? Anyway. This one is easy if you’re being a jerk. When Cedani eventually shows up with a bear after being the grim reaper to helpless animals, DO NOT let her keep it. The bear saves her life from a hound at the end of the game, which we don’t want.

Kill Ivo: this is self explanatory. When the game ends, cut that little creeps head off. Do it for Dusty! This is probably one of the only ones that won’t make you feel even a little bit bad.

Again, the key here is just be absolutely terrible all the time and you should get it, even by accident if you stick to the bit! Good luck out there you vicious evil monarchs!

Good written guide. I must add that killing the deserter in the end is not necessary if you've killed him in the beginning. I got this after I killed Beyran, then then Royal meeting or whatever happened and achievement popped during that. You don't have to do any additional kills other than the ones listed but hey, it's always fun to see the outcome of your bloody hands!

This one popped for me after botching the ritual. I also killed the deserter at the start

Nice guide. If I may say however, some of what's written is out of order for what happens in the game. I got the achievement as soon as I fumbled the ritual and the queen died.

You have to interact with Jovan before the battle with Rodavia, otherwise you won't be able to kill him. Had to restart the entire game :/

Apologies to digistix and that random guy above. I took your advice and redid the guide a bit to correct for order. I apologize for any confusion

One of the more entertaining guides I've read. Well done, sir, and thanks for the help with this cheevo. For me, it unlocked after the ritual. The only thing I'd mention is that to get to that part of the story, which is almost the end, takes several hours. But, +1 for sure. Cheers.

Thank you. Expertly written guide. Some people in this forum always love to downvote regardless of the time and quality of the guide. Like the person above spamming the same shit on every single achievement and never being thankful. Not sure what he means by “yet again I dug up the internet for better guide”

CrispyCrispinUK.... do you get paid to be a troll, or is a hobby of yours? First off, your guide is terrible, and second, what is with you posting after nearly EVERY guide that is already here? It's annoying for us, and I can only imagine how annoying it is for the original posters. Which is probably why no one ever replied to your "guides" in the first place. I sincerely wish we could thumbs down your "guides" and comments.

Seriously. Go away Troll

Great guide! I wanted to add that I made sure to prioritize killing all the bandit camps, 3 total, before the wedding. Some extra killing fro those who are struggling to get the achievement. I purposefully choose the wrong answers without buying anything to help Aurelea. Took two tries to get it. Hope this helps!

Seriously one of the best guides I have ever read! Detailed and funny! Thank you!

I'm not quite sure how to kill the refugees in Week 34. My 2 options are "Give them supplies" or "Guard take them away". But I checked the log and it says I "ignored their request". They're not in prison either. Other guides say to kill them as well.

Since there's not really a "kill them" option, either I've screwed something up or you're just supposed to tell them to go away.

I was so glad I got this the moment I did fail to do the ritual as I didn't want to bother go through the weeks of battle for the 2nd time, I do however wish the radovian battle wasn't just a scripted event for your favor and that we could have multiple ways to win the battle

For what it's worth:

* I got credit for the first Radovian by imprisoning him and later letting one of the Lords (a Lady) take him and dispose of him.
* I got credit for Jovan despite tricking Noamsky and siding with Friderick. After the battle against the Radovians, soldiers brought him to the throne room and we did the whole defense of Friderick's wife subplot then.

Popped at the death of Aurelea.

FYI for those as dumb as me, you have to actually agree to do the ritual in order to screw it up and cause your wife to die. Otherwise, your wife survives the birth and has a healthy girl.

I had so much more fun when going for this achievement. I think you get two chances to get rid of the bear.

Start by killing the deserter. You can do it right at the start or at the end.
Kill the radovian in week 2.
In order to kill Jovan you have to do the next things : invite Jovan, invite sir Friderick ,invite Noaksey, tell Noaksey that Friederick set a trap and after 1 or 2 weeks Jovan will come to the castel and you will have the option to punish him. Do that
After the summit in week 31 ask VariD to come to the castle and tell him he can have Asalia’s hand. At the end of the week Asalia will leave with Varid.
Tell the general to get rid of the radovians in week 34, execute the king in week 40 and hang all of the radovians at the gate.
Reach the ritual and mess something up. Aurelea will die. And if you have done the the 6 tasks kill the deserter, kill all radovian survivors, kill the king, kill jovan, give Asalia to Variq and of course this one the achievement will pop

A visual representation with commentary of the achievement in the video.
