How to unlock the Martial artist achievement in ZHEROS - Definitive Guide

I tried the other solutions and levels mentioned but it didn't work for me since i was mashing up enemies too fast or my combo was interrupted. The one lvl that worked for me was 1-7 (walkway) on normal difficulty with melee upgraded to lvl 2 if that matters. Once you passed the 3 fire obstacles and get to the inside area/ hangar there are 2 vehicles/robots available. Grab one (preferably the one on left down side) and head over to the down right where 3 fangs will spawn - at least thats where i started. Key is to just hit X once then stop for about a sec, head over to the next group of enemies and do the next hit. Advantage is that you can't get knocked back or stunned while in the robot so you have a bit more control and can keep the combo going easier. After an enemy is killed another one will spawn and there is plenty of enemies in this area. So take your time to let enemies spawn - find your rhythm. If you don't get it on your first try leave the vehicle and walk further on to the electrified floor to your right after the next door and get yourself killed. You will spawn a bit before entering the hangar. You simply need to kill some bots and a fang, pass the three fire obstacles and the fun can start again. If you can improve this method or got any questions let me know.

A video would be seriously useful as I am really struggling with this..

I managed to get a combo of 56 on easy with difficulty. Whilst possible, I would recommend doing this on normal or hard difficulties.

Edit: I have since gotten 71 in the same spot. The enemies started to thin out after this point. Definitely recommend higher difficulties.

Maze Mayhem's solution worked well for me.

The one thing that I noticed that interrupted my combo was that periodically, the punch would not come out while in the mech suit. This seemed to happen after about 5 hits. I would press X to punch, pause so that it would not string an attack, and then when I tried to punch in a different direction, the punch would not come out - which would break my streak.

What seemed to help was when I press X to punch, then tap the RT (right trigger), then press X again. So I would do: X (to punch), slight pause, tap RT (right trigger - but not actually fire the gun), then press X (to punch) again, slight pause, tap RT (right trigger), repeat. I got a 167 hit combo this way.

What also really helped was that I tried to avoid hitting the fangs (dogs) unless there was nothing else to hit. The fangs (dogs) will follow you around so use them only as a last resort to hit while other bots are spawning and running over to you. I mainly focused on hitting the other small bots taking them out one by one.

I agree with mbernards. I did mine on hard, killed the three fangs with the mech robot then got out and went to town on the regular guys. I found myself killing the bots too fast in the suit or having them spawn too far out and lost the multiplier. It's also kind of slow to react so I found the normal player was more beneficial. Outside of the mech suit I got over 150 so it's not hard even on Hard difficulty, just make sure you have full health going in so you can just mash on cn_X
Either way, good solution and +1 from me.

Thank you for the solution. Did this also on level Normal, melee had 1 upgrade left.
Only difference from your solution, I used the robot to knock the 3 fangs down and then got out of the robot.
The enemies spawning aren't that hard and only used cn_X

also, the upgrade combos is irrelevant if you just mash cn_X so no points are actually necessary to complete

This is easily the best guide for this achievement. I got to a 60+ combo and failed but there were still enough enemies remaining to continue and reach another 100 combo without even retrying. +1!

If you have the DLC you will have plenty of opportunities to reach well over 100 on easy and that by just playing. there is so many horde of tough to kill enemies that you can get it on.
Sven is a grunt that is tough but easy and if you leave him alone with bad health he get enraged and get even more health helping you to climb those combos sky high.

Here's a video of me getting the achievement on level 1-6 (Sector Zero - Factory). On the 4th stop, there will be about 15 enemies that spawn. Just keep hitting XXX and moving on to the next group. The achievement unlocks at around 66 hits, but I show that it is possible to get 114 hit combo in this spot just in case the achievement is patched to be same as the description.

Edit:
Thanks x Mataeus x for the info:

You do now need a combo of 100. I can confirm this after getting a 91 hit combo ("Punishing") and having not unlocked it, with the achievement counter at 91%. Gutted!

Mataeus: Thanks! Yeah, I know it is same solution, but wanted to make sure that 100+ hits is possible as I felt the game could be patched to correct this unlocking too quickly.

Yeah, absolutely, I agree it could be patched. Was this 'normal' difficulty? Thanks again, you make it look easy! toast

Mataeus: This was on 'easy' difficulty. It's probably easier on normal difficulty as the enemies take more hits to die.

OK For me I got this on easy once I got my moves list up to level 3.

I used the "gunner" move cn_X cn_X cn_X cn_RT on a whole group of enemies at the beginning of level 1-8 .

You can get a combo of around 20 on one enemy using this and if you find a group, you can get this really quick. Hope this helps as I struggled with all the other methods.

Using this method on level 3-1 is even easier. There are many large groups of smaller enemies that can take a lot of damage. They don't have the knockdown moves of larger enemies, and you can easily get them to group up, so you'll be able to pop 4 to 5 or even 6 of them into the air at the same time. Made this almost effortless with only 2-3 juggles to get the 100 hits.

This is for getting a 100 combat streak, but I don't even think i needed 100, it looked like it popped after about 60 or 70?

Anyway, I got this In stage 1-4: there's a section a few minutes into the level (after the robot dog fight), where you walk north into a big green room with see-through grating as the floor, and has a big red button you need to hit. A whole bunch of enemies will spawn, in which you can keep your combo alive for a while. Just keep mashing X to attack, but also try to mix a few styles of fighting in. For example, when playing as the tough guy character you can use the roll forward/attack combo - this throws enemies into the air and does more attacks at a weaker strength.

Building on Psparky27's solution, use level 1-8 and wait until you go up in the elevator. Take out the shield guy and then use the combo cn_Xcn_Xcn_Xcn_RT and concentrate on the bombers because they can take a bit more damage before you hit them up in the air. Here's a clip I recorded of using this method to get a x125 combo.

Sorry, this Game Clip has been removed

Since both of the other solutions suggest using level 1-4, I thought I'd give an alternative that worked better for me. First off, I suggest playing on normal or hard and using Mike with 2 upgrades into his melee abilities so you have the 5-hit combo move that only uses cn_X. Load up level 1-6, which starts off as an elevator level. Once you reach the fourth stop, which is the stop after you have to fight the giant space cow mini-boss, a bunch of enemies will fall from the sky, and even more will spawn periodically. Simply press cn_X repeatedly and move from enemy to enemy. They tend to group up in the small space, so it's pretty easy to keep the combo moving up. Just make sure to map out which enemies will be next so you don't start punching empty air and lose your streak. The achievement will unlock once you break into the 60's (as of Feb. 5, 2016)

There are a few different areas where you can try to get this trophy, but I'd suggest trying it on 1-6. After defeating the Space Cow, the elevator will stop and a bunch of enemies will drop down. Just round them up and do 3 hit normal combos on them ( ) and then stop for a second and repeat (this way you don't kill the enemies too fast). Just keep attacking a different enemy each time and once you kill one, a new enemy should appear. Just focus on doing the mini-combos and making sure that you keep enemies near you so you can start a new one on them. Don't worry about blocking or anything else, just keep building your combo streak by repeating the smaller combo. If you choose to do it in another area with a lot of enemies, stick to the same type of idea to build your combo streak without killing the enemies too fast. Once you hit 100 combo streak, the trophy will pop.

This achievement is currently glitched but in a good way: it will unlock early. I got it around 50-60 hits. The best way to get a high combo is to play on a higher difficulty because enemies take more hits, and use your weaker, quicker attacks. Find a large group of enemies and start wailing away at them. Getting hit does not interrupt your combo, but it will reset after a few seconds of not hitting an enemy.
