How to unlock the Hands tied achievement in Ziggurat - Definitive Guide

CHECK COMMENTS: one site member has said they couldn't get it by picking up any perks so maybe the achievement has changed.

You get this achievement by completing the game without pushing cn_X to use a level up to 'buy' a Perk. Acquiring Perks any other way is completely fine.

----

Whilst you can use any character, i used Hadar the Templar. Hadar gains Mana by picking up Experience Shards. By rotating weapons he effectively has unlimited Mana.

He starts with 150 health and if you pick Easy difficulty this should be enough.

First i'd suggest playing the game enough to know attack patterns and to unlock some better weapons, you can keep restarting until you get your favoured weapon but i'd suggest any Staff bar Undead Scepter (shoots in a fan), something like Eye of Twilight or Eagle Staff is great. Wraith Rings spell is where the early game damage is and is great for trash and big enemies, even bosses.

You shouldn't have any trouble but to make life easier, level up on Floors 1-3 as this adds 5HP per level, DON'T PUSH cn_X or you'll void the achievement. What doesn't void the achievement is Secret Room, Treasure Box or paying Life/Mana to gain Perks. So seek out those Secret Rooms and don't pass up Red Trap Rooms, they always hold a Perk or an Amulet and a good Amulet can go far.

Have to agree. Use Hadar on easy and you really shouldn't have any problems. Granted a lot of it is down to chance but this is definitely the easiest way.

Great solution! I would also like to note that at the beginning of each floor you can Save & Quit and then Resume from the main menu to make the weapon that spawned be different, this works even on the final floor, fairly helpful if the weapon that spawned for you is crappy.

I'm not sure your guide is correct. Completed it twice without an achievement. Third time I did it without any perks from secret rooms / challenge rooms / treasure boxes and finally got the achievement.

I know they updated the game after i finished with it, i played it when it first came out so all i can think is they updated the achievements too. I think all we can do is wait to see if another player experiences the same issues, but I'll put a note at the top for newer players.

This didn't unlock for me, despite doing everything right. Very strange.

Alright, just did it again and it worked this time. Weird. Hadar really is the way to go, he makes it much easier.

Not even buffs from the shrines are allowed! Found that out the hard way. facepalm

Also, this no longer works.
