Zoo Tycoon: Ultimate Animal Collection

EDIT 1 Feb 23: There have been a few comments in relation to this and other campaign achievements getting stuck at 80%. Unfortunately, as has been commented by WaTL Patkolo and SPACE ODDITY, the only known solution is to delete your save entirely (do everything else first) then go through all the campaign zoos in one sitting.

For the most part, the five South America scenarios are quite easy. If you have a decent knowledge of how the game works, you probably won’t need this guide. Keep an eye on Guest and Animal happiness – there may be a few exhibit items that need fixing that I have not mentioned and obviously if guests are unhappy with a particular category, fix that as a priority. Some of the scenarios have instant-fail criteria relating to happiness – be sure to keep an eagle-eye on things and save often.

I'm sure these are not the quickest or most efficient methods, but they will get the job done without too much hassle. Be efficient – if the you are waiting for something to research, move onto the next step if you can. I haven't listed where the exhibits are - if you're worried about running out of time you could always start the scenario, take a look around and identify where everything is, then select retry. It shouldn't be necessary though - there should be plenty of room for error.

Finally, it should go without saying that when adopting animals, choose the cheapest available. Never adopt babies. It is possible these solutions may not work if you have terrible luck with the list of available animals but there should always be time to wait for the list to refresh.

ZOO 1: CANADA – SAUCE AMERICA
Upgrade Restrooms to level 2,
Upgrade the Burger Barn, Soft Drinks Stand and Lion Mascot to level 2,
Research and build a Zoo Keeper Centre. Staff it with two level 3 Keepers,
Research and build a Janitor’s Office and hire two level 3 Janitors,
Build a Tropical Small exhibit and equip it for Jaguars and Cougars,
Research Southern South American Cougars,
Adopt 1 x Southern South American Cougar and 1 x Goldman’s Jaguar into Topical Small,
Research and build an Andean Plateau Medium with items for Llamas and Alpacas,
Build a second level 2 Restroom,
Adopt 2 x Suri Alpacas and 2 x Domestic Llamas into Andean Plateau Medium,
Set your Admission Price to High,
Research and build a Tropical Lawn mini exhibit,
Research and adopt 2 x Brazilian Tapir into Tropical Lawn,
Upgrade concessions until you reach Fame Level 12 if you are not there already,
Research and build a Tropical Pool mini exhibit,
Adopt one Yacare Caiman to finish the scenario.

ZOO 2: BRAZIL – THE LLAMAS’ FARM
Sell off Llamas and Alpacas until you pass $30,000. Only sell enough to reach the goal so we keep animal variety up,
Build a Tropical Rock mini exhibit, research Black-rumped Agouti then adopt 1 x Azara’s and 1 x Black-rumped Agouti,
Upgrade the existing Restroom to level 2 and build another, also level 2,
Build a level 2 Burger Barn,
You should be Fame Level 4, so research and build a Janitor’s Office. Staff with one level 3 Janitor,
Build a level 2 Lion Mascot,
Upgrade the exiting Soda Drinks Stand and Llama Statue to level 2,
Build a level 2 Bear Topiary,
Build a Tropical Small exhibit and equip it for Jaguars,
Adopt 2 x Goldman’s Jaguar – ideally, they will be level 6 animals available at just $1600 each,
Adopt Llamas or Alpacas into Andean Medium to make it 3 animals total. Adopt to maximise variety, so you want three different animal types/species,
Research and build a Tropical Tree mini exhibit, then adopt 2 x Grey-Winged Trumpeter Birds,
Build a Deco Plaza and upgrade to level 2,
Research and build a Zoo Keeper’s Centre, staff with one level 3 Keeper,
Research Billboard advertising and run a High Intensity campaign,
Build another Tropical Rock mini exhibit. Research and adopt a Red-rumped Agouti and adopt an Azara’s Agouti to go with it,
Research and adopt a Central American Jaguar into Tropical Small. They can be expensive, so hope you get a level 6 or 7 on the list,
Research and build a Lemur Keeper Entertainment to level 2,
Research and build another Burger Barn and upgrade to level 2,
Hire another level 1 Janitor,
Build another Tropical Tree mini exhibit. Adopt a single Emerald Tree Boa (Large Snake) to satisfy the “Lay Off The Llamas” challenge,
Lower Admission Price, ideally to free. Once you pass 6,000 guests, the scenario is complete.

ZOO 3: GERMANY – TO SAVE A ZOO
Move all the Addax Antelopes from Tundra Small in top left to Grasslands Medium on the right,
Fix exhibit items in Grasslands Medium,
Research Zoo Keeper Centre,
Move the two Amazon Jaguars from Grasslands Small to Savannah Small,
Move the 2 Barbary Lions from Andean Plateau Small to Grasslands Small,
Fix Exhibit Items in Savannah Small,
Build a Zoo Keeper Centre and hire two level 3 Keepers,
Move 2 x Huacaya Alpacas (1 from Tundra Small 01 and 1 from Grasslands Medium 01) into Andean Plateau and adopt 1 x Suri Alpaca,
Fix Exhibit Items in Andean Plateau small,
‘THE WEIGHT OF GREEN’ CHALLENGE FOR AVERAGE ANIMAL HAPPINESS SHOULD UNLOCK AROUND HERE
Build and perform a Feeding Interaction in Grassland Medium with Antelopes,
Perform a Sensory Enrichment Interaction on the Tiger in Savannah Small,
Set up Tundra Small for Bears – skip the Enrichment and put in a Hose Interaction,
Adopt 2 Grizzly Bears into Tundra Small,
Perform Hose Interaction with one of the Bears,
Fame-build Concessions to reach Fame Level 14 and complete the scenario.

ZOO 4: RUSSIA – MAKING ROOM FOR THE YOUNG
Research Zoo Keeper Centre,
Sell off the Alpacas in Andean Plateau Medium 01 and sell the exhibit when you can,
Adopt two male and 2 female Goldman’s Jaguars into Tropical Large,
This zoo is terribly overdone with decorations and animal variety and you will probably start to lose money here. Sell off decorations, starting with the rocks and trees around the centre, then moving onto the other ones as required. Keep going until you start making money again – eg. the arrow next to your money points upwards. You will likely have to sell off almost all the decorations,
Hire two level 3 Janitors in the existing Janitor’s Office,
Build a Zoo Keeper Centre and hire two level 3 Keepers,
Research a Breeding Centre,
Upgrade Restrooms 01 to level 3,
Research TV/Movie advertising campaign,
Build a Breeding Centre and hire one level 3 Expert. Make sure to assign them to the correct exhibit with the Jaguars – it should be Tropical Large 02,
Run a High Intensity TV/Movie advertising campaign,
Pregnancies are random, but you should expect a Jaguar to get pregnant with at least 30 minutes left on the clock,
Research Top Cat and Lion-El Ritchie (not required if a Jaguar is already pregnant),
Once she reaches level 15, release Rosie the Costa Rican Cougar (Tropical Large 02) to the wild,
Continue to manage until the first Jaguar baby is born, which should be around 15-20 minutes after the pregnancy notification. You should have already breezed past Fame Level 20 but if not, Fame-build until you do to complete the scenario.

ZOO 5: THAILAND – AMAZONIA
WATCH GUEST HAPPINESS IN THIS SCENARIO. DROPPING BELOW GREEN IS AN INSTANT FAIL AND IN THIS ZOO IT CAN DROP VERY QUICKLY! BE SURE TO BUILD A VARIETY OF CONCESSIONS AND DON’T FORGET JANITORS AND RESTROOMS. ALSO, GETTING PHOTOS TO REGISTER CAN BE DIFFICULT. TRY TO ONLY HAVE A SINGLE ANIMAL IN THE SHOT.
Research and build a Zoo Keeper Centre, staffed with two level 3 Zoo Keepers,
Upgrade the Janitors in the existing Janitor’s Office to level 3,
Build a Tropical Rock mini exhibit then research and adopt one Orinoco Agouti. Take a photo, then adopt an Azara’s Agouti to go with it,
Fix Feeding Station in Andean Plateau Medium 02,
Research and adopt 1 x Peruvian Jaguar into Tropical Medium 01. Take it’s photograph when it arrives,
Research and build Tropical Lawn and Tropical Pool mini exhibits,
Once at Fame Level 18, research and adopt 2 x Giant Anteaters into the Tropical Lawn mini exhibit and take their photo,
Make sure Janitor’s Office is researched. If you see the Cleanliness level start to drop and the existing Office is maxed out (it should be!), you may not have enough time to research, build and staff a new Office and you will fail. I just built a second Office with two extra level 3 Janitors (7 in total) to avoid the problem,
Adopt additional animals to max out all the exhibits. We need a total of 30 animals. The last two will be Caiman so just progress until you have 28 in the zoo. Adopt as much variety as possible,
Research and run a High Intensity Viral advertising campaign to speed things up,
Build concessions. Once you reach Fame Level 24, research and adopt 2 x Black Caiman into the Tropical Pool mini exhibit. Remember to take a photo to complete that challenge,
Build concessions to get to Fame Level 25 and complete your final scenario to unlock the achievement. Well done!

I didn't have any problems with most of them so just read carefully what the requirements are and remember to save from time to time. If you fail a scenario, it will announce it immediately and you are not able to rewind the game unless you saved and retry means starting from zero. This is especially important with the requirements where you have to keep the satisfaction of guests in the green. If it goes too low and turns yellow, the scenario is failed instantly.

The reason why I wanted to post this was that my last scenario bugged and wouldn't complete. One of the last scenario's requirements was to adopt 4 specific species of animals and to take a picture of those 4 species. I had it at 3/4 animals photographed and it didn't complete even though I took several pictures of all of the said species. I tried saving and closing the game, restarting the console, selling those species and adopting new ones but only after I reinstalled the game, loaded a save and took a picture of all of the 4 species (again) and the achievement unlocked after the fourth animal was photographed (Giant Anteater in my case).
