How to unlock the The Blind Archer achievement in Age of Empires II: Definitive Edition - Definitive Guide

The first two missions are pretty straightforward, and 3 is laughably easy if you follow the solution below :

Age of Empires II: Definitive EditionHopeless RomanticNegativeCreep08The Hopeless Romantic achievement in Age of Empires II: Definitive Edition worth 175 pointsWin "Hand of a Princess" with 12+ minutes remaining on the timer.

Missions 4 and 5 on the other hand, are two of the toughest in the game even on standard difficulty, and if you don't approach them strategically you'll quickly get overrun.

Mission 4

The good news is mission 4 starts you with a load of resources and a large base. The bad news is you have to destroy the monasteries of three enemies, under a tight time limit and whilst they all launch relentless attacks. There is a workaround though - you can win with a wonder victory. However, you'll still need to destroy one of the monasteries as their counter has already begun. Reducing the game speed (+ and - on the number pad) will make things a lot more manageable and create multiple save files just in case.

- Pause the game (F3) the moment it starts. Get one of your farmers to build a wonder next to the town centre, queue up more to help build it, send the other farmers to the transport ships, move all the ones on wood to gold, send one gold miner slightly north. Start researching military upgrades and the treadmill crane.

- Unpause and your villager who went north will find a monk with a relic, move them across the river to your main base. They will tell you the location of two other relics, send your hero unit to the west to grab the one by green, send all your camels north to get the other, which will be guarded by horse archers.

- Bring all the relics back to your base and take them to the monks in the east together (if you do them individually yellow will send units there). The monks will give you Atheism, which gives you more time.

- Whilst you are doing this, use the villagers you sent over the river to build at least 3 castles by your north west and western gates. Use the others you've been creating to help with the wonder. Keep pumping out units as you'll soon come under attack. Green likes to use siege and war elephants, which are strong but vulnerable to monks.

- Build 6 trebuchets, wait for a lull in attacks and your wonder to be almost or fully complete, and send your army north towards yellow's base. With 6 of them you should be able to one-shot the monastery. Focus everything on destroying it, you'll likely lose most of your army as they'll rush to attack you, but that's fine.

- You'll notice that your wonder countdown is sooner than the next relic, and your victory is now assured. Even if your main base is completely overrun, the AI can't cross the river.

- Now it's simply a case of defending until you win.

Mission 5

There is an achievement for this mission, which is pretty straightforward

Age of Empires II: Definitive EditionInspiring PoetNegativeCreep08The Inspiring Poet achievement in Age of Empires II: Definitive Edition worth 302 pointsConvert all Rajas before the Ghorids attack in Prithviraj #5 on Hard difficulty.

Do this on a separate game though, I wouldn't recommend trying to do the rest of the mission on hard.

- Start by converting the bottom Raja and move up. Send your elephants to distract the enemy whilst your poet converts the other Rajas. Don't attack buildings and try to avoid killing units, you're just hurting yourself since they all join you after conversion. Time is of the essence here.

- Now you have all 4 bases, you'll notice some stone and gold in the middle one, which you should focus on mining. Advance to imperial age, research murder holes and start building an army.

- Focus on your top base, building a castle by the river on the right side and another by the gold on the left. Build walls and leave a single space gap. You won't have enough stone for this, so buy more at the market.

- You'll see a countdown timer until the first raid, when there are only a few minutes left move all your villagers to the relative safety of the top base.

- Now you'll want to focus on defending your top base until the raids finally end. Those raids are no joke, containing increasing hordes of camel riders and horse archers, with a few siege elephants thrown in for good measure. Considering you only have access to spearmen, you will need a lot of firepower to stay alive. Don't worry about losing your other bases.

- In addition to the raids, you will also be attacked by green, who likes to use siege and elephant archers, and yellow, who uses infantry but also trebuchets, which you should be ready to counter. But by using walls you can bottleneck these attacks and make it more manageable.

- Eventually the raids will end, although whenever I tried the objective was completed before they launched their final one. Now it's time to take care of green. You can use trebuchets to destroy some buildings over the river, which he won't rebuild, and lure his troops out. You can also build a dock, and whilst you don't get cannon galleons your regular ones can disrupt his troops since the AI land units won't target them.

- Once you have a large enough army, head west and start taking out green's base, using trebuchets screened by infantry and backed by elephant archers. Make sure to leave his market intact so you can trade with it. He'll resign once his castles, military buildings and town centres are down.

- From this point things are much easier and it's a case of working your way south to destroy yellow. He will use his trebuchets against yours though, so be prepared for that.

- Once yellow is down, it's time for cyan. Now you can build a dock in the southern ocean and create a navy to wrecks his. Move your army west and begin taking apart his base with your trebuchets whilst your army and navy protect them.

- Eventually he'll surrender, the mission is won and the achievement is yours. I just left grey alone and he never bothered me.

*Story related and can't be missed

Prithviraj is the fourth Campaign of "The Forgotten" expansion to Age of Empires 2 and consists of five levels. Upon completing the final one the achievement will unlock.

Some tips for the missions are:

  • 1st Level - At the start there is a hero monk just south of the eastern base, you can get him so that you don't lose any any troops taking the base, you can then also take the 2nd base.
  • 2nd Level - Once you gain your base you'll want a few troops to defend it, but you'll probably also want to wall off what you can as your base is very exposed., killing the enemy leaders will make them ally with you so don't waste time killing buildings you don't need to.
  • 3rd Level - Quite easy but you'll have to keep moving forward, keep a look out for extra troops / villagers you can capture you'll need to reach the end of the level before the timer expires.
  • 4th Level - This is all about the rush, your economy is protected by the river so you only have to defend your military buildings, build some trebuchets and only take out the buildings you need too, most of the monastery's can be attacked from outsides the cities with well placed trebuchets so scout the map first
  • 5th Level - Is actually relatively easy, just make sure you convert the Raja's so as to gain there bases, villagers and men then build up a small army with some siege units to kill the main enemies., the best one to convert at the start would either be the one in the west with he castle (as this is hard to take later on) or the one in the north, the one to the north west can be converted from the hill above the town.
