How to unlock the Freyr's Gift achievement in Age of Mythology: Retold - Definitive Guide
If you want to do this quickly you can just open the chat box using enter and type "THRILL OF VICTORY" to win each mission. Just make sure you play the last mission normally (can do it on Story difficulty) in order to unlock the achievement. This is the case for all campaign achievements.
The Golden Gift campaign is short, Nord focussed campaign that has four scenarios.
The first two scenarios can easily be rushed, no need for long base building.
For the scenario: Up to the north is a small encampment. There is someone who wants six cows. Bring them to him, for that he opens a magic pathway almost right next to your goal. There are two walls and a towncenter in the way between you and the goal.
What I did was built up a small force, mostly melee units (around 20), your hero and a couple of dwarves. Then we went through the gate, punched through the first wall. Then I was attacked by units, so I used Frost, freezing them in place. While they were frozen, I punched through the second gate. The Dwarves built some oxcarts in the goal area and I was done.
For the second: You will occasionally get attacke by red ships on the left and yellow landing parties on the right. The left needs no additional defence. I simply got two fishing boats working there and places the healing spring next to the ocean. That way, whenever ships attacked, they attacked the fishing ships first. Those would withdraw automatically, luring the attacking ships into tower range. The Spring would then heal the ships as the returned to work. I never had to manually defend there.
The landing party on the right is small and consists of cavalry mostly. I simply had ten Berserks meeting them, healing them up in between.
For finishing the scenario: I built a singular transport ship, five hammer ships and a Kraken. Those were enough to escort your tranport to the right landing site. Simply go past purple units, just watch out that your transport is far from enemy Kraken.
The transport was filled with 15 dwarves, your hero, two mountain giants and the rest were your starting heroes. Those were enough to demolish the defending units.
For the third: Ressources aren't an issue in this scenario. You have enough boars and the fished to your right for food, your woodline is plentyful and you have enough gold to last the whole match.
Simply built up an army of about 25 melee units (I used Hersirs), march them to your goal and capture it. Afterwards I built two fortresses and some walls, that left a gap in between the fortresses open. The opponent only attacked me there. I occasionally had to refresh my troops, but could idle most of the scenario.
Fourth: That's the only one where you have to fight through your enemy. I cleaned up the temples to the norht and south quickly, then built two fortresses to the left of the small lake to the left of your starting position. Thus secured, I built up a decent economy (20 dwarves on everything), then had 10 siege ballistas, five valkyries and a ton of Hersirs as my army. Just march west, protecting your siege while it demolishes the buildings. The Valkyries were on passive, so they only heal. I built up every towncenter on the way to have a bit of a defense, while the Valkyries healed after every part they fought through.
After a mountain with trolls throwing rocks was the Niddhog. For him you need ranged weapons, so I used my at this point considerable ressources and recruited 20 axe throwers. With flaming weapons, which you should have gotten from temples, they made short work of him. Just keep your ballistas away from him, he wrecks them fast.
The boar itself is basically undefended and no surprises await you there.
