How to unlock the Crocodile Tears achievement in Batman: Arkham Asylum - Definitive Guide
To successfully get out of Killer Croc's lair you need to crouch and walk very slowly across the floating platforms and use the batarang to make Killer Croc fall back into the water when he pops up to get you. After acquiring all the spores needed (4 different samples), you have to escape by running when it tells you to and using the batarangs yet again to make Killer Croc drop back into the water. Once back on dry land, there is a final confrontation with Killer Croc in which you are trapped by a gate. The Explosive Gel that Batman automatically placed at the beginning of the level saves your life here - just make sure to have the gel selected (left on the D-Pad) and detonate the floor when Killer Croc runs over it. It may also self-detonate when Killer Croc runs over it, but I have not tested this for myself so try it at your own risk.

Where do i place the explosive gel?
Is it at the part where you watched the cut-scene involving Scarecrow, Batman and Killer Croc? (the bit where Killer Croc grabs Scarecrow and takes him under the water) .. or is it later on in the game?
Just remember to take your time.
Have the batarang equipped.
Take careful aim! sometimes the quckfire batarang misses.

Eventually you will progress through the story far enough to reach Killer Croc’s lair. You will be tasked with getting some anti-venom in this area. Before walking out into the lair you will put some explosive gel onto the floor to ensure your safety when trying to make an escape. Walk along the planks using the range meter to figure out the right direction to go in this maze like lair. Eventually, Croc will spring up and start running after you. Simply turn and face him while holding to aim a Batarang at his collar and force him back into the water. Upon collecting your last anti-venom sample, Killer Croc will become more dangerous and you’ll have to run from him instead of hitting him with Batarangs. Again you’ll use your meter to figure out where the exit is, and upon reaching it be ready to blow your explosive gel you laid out in the beginning. This will stop Killer Croc from catching you when you try to escape the lair. You will earn the trophy after springing the trap and escaping.
