How to unlock the Moving on Up achievement in Battle Ages - Definitive Guide

Moving on Up

You will probably get this first anyways but it would be a safe thing to obtain this achievement first:
Battle AgesFor the WinThe For the Win achievement in Battle Ages worth 163 pointsAchieve 250 offensive victories

You will have to have 2500 at the same time and if you look at your achievement progress on the X1 side screen it will already be about 40%.
0 trophies = 0%, 2500 trophies = 100%.

DR studios has made a couple of changes to make this achievement much more difficult than the 2500 dog tag achievement in Battle Islands, one of the things that has changed is that you cannot attack anyone in Clans anymore, which was EXTREMELY helpful. Instead you have to use their search system which will bring up a list of enemies you can fight and if you don't like any of the ones they chose you have to hit cn_Y to refresh until you see an opponent that works for you.

The 2nd thing they changed is that you cannot continually attack people around 1000 Trophies, if you attack anyone around 1000 trophies say after you obtain 1300-1400 trophies you will receive 1 measly trophy. You must beat opponents right in your trophy range meaning this will seriously be a battle all the way to 2500, sorry you cannot beat up people below your trophy level this time....

Method 1:
One way to get this achievement is to attack anyone that has a base level below you and more trophies then you, this will net you the most amount of trophies, that or at your same level. If you don't think you can win hit B and retreat before putting any units down. All you need is 1 star to not lose trophies which is 50% base damage or destroy the main building.

Currently since there is a high amount of people still around 1000 trophies is this very difficult to obtain, I am around 1800 trophies and unless I get 3 stars on anyone above 1400 trophies I will only be awarded 1 trophy for winning WITH 3 stars. So compared to Battle Island this is MUCH more difficult to obtain. Once people start moving up in trophies 2500 should become easier to obtain.....

Another tip I have been using to go for 2500 trophies since I have found out that it is EXTREMELY easy to lose defensive battles (which means losing trophies) is that if you are attacking people and need to wait for your units to build (eventually they will take time, currently its 8-9 minute for my units to build) make sure to keep hitting a button while you are away (I watch TV while waiting or go on my laptop). The game will make you inactive and available for attacks within less than a minute of inactivity (Crazy I know right!). Keep your Peaceful mode active unless you are either very secure about winning defensively and only attack people when you know you have time to sit and attack people for a while because if you don't win defensively and don't win your trophies fast enough you will never make it to 2500 trophies. Compared to Battle Islands this game is a whole different ball park.

Method 2:

Today I took the time to go from 1850 trophies to 2500. The amount of time it took was about 10 hours. I could have obtained it much faster but did not realize it until later. Here's how:

External image

I recommend having your base Age 2 or 3 (mine was AGE 3), get your units fully upgraded and have 2 CASTRA's (tents that buid units, and if in age 3) able to have 30 units each. Now what you want to do is put a BOOST on both of them which only cost 10 Jewels to last 4 hours. Now this is a VERY repetitive tactic but nets the most amount of trophies when you are around 2000 trophies, go into BATTLE and search for anyone below the base level 6 and attack them. JUST obtain 1 star! (I always aimed for the main structure) and immediately retreat by hitting cn_B then cn_A, this will count as 1 win and give you 1 trophy. Re-supply your tents building units and repeat the pattern. Its extremely boring so I recommend watching something on a laptop or 2nd tv. If you do it really fast you can net a ton of trophies. Another quick note is that unlike Battle Islands there is no Trophy limit meaning you can attack people below 1000 trophies when you pass 2000.

How to earn a ton of free Jewels:

Anyone have anything to contribute to this guide I will give credit, anyone have any questions I will answer them to the best of my ability in the comments.

For those of us that haven't played BI, is it necessary to have 2500 trophies at one time? Or is this just "Earn a total of 2500 over time"?

^It seems, by the achievement tracking progress, that you must have them all at the same time.

Is anybody having the same problem as me that 95% of the time when you start a battle, it says that the enemy is already in a battle?

Thats because people are being attacked so much and fast that you have to be really quick to get to attack the person because if someone clicks it before you then you are too late and have to refresh to find another person.

As of right now, it seems that the game only show me one or two enemies (and usually the same one or two). Guess I advanced through the ages to quick or what?

I really think it is more that the servers are bugged or the game is poorly designed that it offers the same ones everybody at the same time

Like BI, you can dash quit before you run out of troops or time so you don't lose any trophies and keep your troops. i keep one troop in my bar to make sure all of them don't die

Thats true, but for the people who really do want to get 250 defense wins its only fair to keep it off the solution. If I add it then it could make it even harder for those who are going for it because if word went around to everyone playing this game then everyone would be doing it and no one would get defense wins.

Just found out the hard way that you can lose 40 trophies from a failed attack (overconfident with lower level and didn't plan much) So it's best to really make sure you can defeat someone

a side note, I dont think matched up "around the same level" as you is completely accurate. I get shown level 2-5s all the time and im at lv18. I think matching is more trophy based. Also when you battle some closer to your level (the blue number) you get more trophies. I have 1450 trophies, when i fight a level 7 with 1200 i get 5~ trophies if i am lucky but if i fight a level 14 with 1100~ trophies i get 10+

It's the same now too for Battle Islands since the update, you can no longer spy low levels through the alliance tab and attack them, you can only attack through the random battle tab which makes the game much harder now.

I tested that Theory Steamboat and it doesn't seem to be the level that matters because I got 1 trophy from a level 18 and 3 trophies from a level 12. I have been sticking to the same method and moving up on trophies: attack the highest trophy person and win. Doing this same thing every time I am at 1732 trophies right now. I think you are right about the level thing, their search system is putting me against every Age except the final one, but I mostly see people who are above 1, same, or down 1.

Lately, it keeps matching me with a ton of level 2's, yay for 3 stars, 1 trophy... hopefully they add some type of clan war, or else whats the point of being in a clan.

I will get this way before the 250 defensive wins, so 1 trophy or 10 trophies makes little difference.

You say that Xtowers, but it actually does, example: im at 1800 trophies, that would mean if I got 1 trophy every time I would have to win 700 times excluding any defensive battles lost.

Yes that is true. I was referring to calendar time, but real time yes it would be much faster to gain more than 1 trophy at a time. I just forsee myself not really looking at trophies and just going to the gold league bonus, but when I reach a higher level i may look at trophy and player levels more closely.

By Xtowers on 25 Apr 2016 19:01
What do you mean Calendar time? Again the longer you wait you will lose trophies for each defensive battle lost so the fastest way is getting this done right away instead of little at a time if thats what you mean by calendar time.

Calendar time to completion. I may be playing this game for a year. I am going to hit 2500 trophies within that time, but it will take much longer to get the 250 defensive wins. I am going to be logging in daily, maybe battling a little. I do not intend to sit down and grind out 2500 trophies in a couple days. Just my approach to this one, no harm doing it either way.

Lol I love your method 2

It's common sense >_<. I was hoping for a grand revelation.

What in earth were you doing before that.
Keep up the good work. I gotta get this done - it's too much like work

Re the trophy discussion.

Obviously it makes sense to get this cheevo sooner.
Once this pops I can focus on optimal base design and hopefully I can earn the defensive cheevo even when I move into my next game (people will still attack me even if I'm not playing the game)

Actually method 2 isn't common sense because I didn't think of it until I got up to 1850 trophies and I know no one else thinks of it either because there are 2 things people attack others for:

1) Trophies
2) Coins

The people who are easy and don't have any coins or trophies are untouched.

The real problem comes later when you need artillery to win. The more powerful ones can take 20min to charge up a full load under boost. More than unboostrd barracks

You should remove the part about keeping actively logged in so you can't get attacked. It's already difficult enough to find people to battle confidently, as well as it's time that you could use for a chances at defensive victories.

Actually no, its recommended that you get this first, if you are high in medals you aren't going to get defensive wins, the best way to get defensive wins is to have low medals, if people are trying to get 250 defensive wins while going for this achievement its impossible. I lost over 20 defenses when having a ton of trophies but when I finished getting trophies and went down to about 1300 I won defensive battles all the time.

What does this mean: "Now this is a VERY repetitive tactic but nets the most amount of Jewels when you are around AGE 2000, go into BATTLE and search for anyone below the base level 6 and attack them. JUST obtain 1 star!" Are you trying to say 2000 trophies? Below base level 6, is that the last base level, so don't attack anyone who isn't the highest base level? And just obtain 1 star, isn't that what the objective is? (At least that is what I was going for, getting one star on someone higher than me still nets me about 10 trophies)

I'm going to call BS on going from 1850 to 2500 in 10 hours. First off, that's 650 trophies in 10 hours which is 65 trophies per hour.

Assuming it takes 1 minute per game, time is spent replenishing your troops which can take about 2 minutes at the Classical Age with a boost on training. This equates to 3 minutes battling and replenishing which is roughly 20 games per hour. This should give you 20 trophies per hour at 1 trophy per match.

It's hard to get more than 1 trophy per match as you level up trophy wise. I understand you might get more than one sometimes but that's rare.

I call BS because the math simply doesn't add up.

You are forgetting the fact of I didn't use all my units. In fact on average I used 7-10 units and attacked their direct base for 1 star and immediately quit. Doing this method I got 2-3 wins a minute at one point.

It took me longer than 10 hours, but I can confirm attacking right away while your army is still building speeds it up a lot. You don't need to wait for it to be full each time if you're on the early ages still and attacking weak targets as the OP says. There's basically no downtime between attacks if you do it right.

I got the achievement using this method.. it's a serious grind but it works.

I did this on the 4th age, Medieval. If you want to get this, do it before this stage. It was awful. It often took my entire army to get a star. And that's against other Medieval attacks. Don't even try attacking any Renaissance people. It wont end well. It wont even start well. You might get to attack one Ancient age enemy per hour. Using the 10 gem boost on the 4 troop/siege platforms took 4 minutes to fully train between attacks. 490 of my last 500 attacks were just 1 star. Luckily I had a stash of 900+ gems to use to speed things up. I started insta-building my armies for the last 100 attacks. That took an additional 4 gems per rebuild, but brought in 1 star about every 90 seconds, instead of every 5 minutes.

Expect to lose 40 trophies each night from getting attacked. I bought 1 day of peace at 2300 trophies for 50 gems. It has a 5 day cooldown, so you only get to use it once during your grind. My grind was well over 30 hours over 3 days; 12 hours, 14 hours, 8 hours to go from about 1900 to 2500. On days 1 and 2 I tried to get all 3 stars. Don't do this. I almost never got more than 1 trophy, even getting 3 stars. Retreat as soon as you get 1 star to save time.

It took me about 8 hours to go from 2300 to 2500. On this age, with 3 troop tents holding 35 spaces I used 4 knights (20 spaces) and 15 swordsmen (15 spaces) each and 3 siege weapons. I used locust swarms. They damage troop tents enough to kill almost every enemy except horses with just 1 swarm each, and damage (not destroy) a nearby wall. Their attack range is wide enough to detonate a nearby trap too.

I started my attacks with locusts on at least 2 of the 3 tents nearest where I wanted to attack, then sent in all 12 knights as close to a catapult/castle as possible, then followed with most of the swordsmen right after in the same spot. It was a "brute force" attack and was the most successful strategy for me. You'll be vulnerable to explosive traps, but usually the knights triggered them before the swordsmen got there. Occasionally a catapult ruined my day by wiping out most swordsmen early. But the knights should be able to destroy the nearest catapult before that happens.

tl;dr. Do this before Medieval Age

This was super easy in age II. so I recommend restarting the game. To restart the game, send a msg to support with a screenshot of your game, demanding to start over. They will do that for you, but all progress will be erased.

After 1800 trophies, I didn't get attacked at all and got some high easy trophy enemies to defeat a lot. The game has a glitch/feature that if it doesnt match too many enemies with you, it starts throwing you some random virtual players with high trophy counts and easy bases to defeat.

Great Job. They just added a new age. It takes about 10 million to purchase and 14 days to complete. I have about 10 hours left but all units can upgrade more and you can buy fighter planes and such. I have about 6 million in my account with nothing to buy atm so I get attacked on the reg. and looking forward to the new age. Unfortunately, no new achievement with the new age. Currently around 2100 trophies.

I can confirm that the strategy of staying in age II no longer works. It just matches you with age III opponents over 1800, which are impossible to beat. Fastest way to grind this appears to be boosting defense wins using a second account. It's still 1 trophy per pop, but you don't need to worry about actually attacking anything.

I am not promoting that method because how will people get 250 defense wins (which is an achievement) if I promote doing that. I dont want people doing that to me or I will never get 250 defense wins. I will promote it if I can find a way to boost 250 defense wins but right now you cant even do that due to the fact you cannot attack anyone except the people you find randomly in the search that sucks badly.

fair point. But until they fix the battle search i don't see many people completing this, think i made it harder for myself by going to classical age too quickly so now i mostly find really high level people that are too hard to defeat.

I've listed the ages to make things easier for everyone to follow this guide.

1 - Starting Age ( I don't know the official name - this is where the game starts you.)
2 - Ancient Age
3 - Classical Age
4 - Medieval Age
5 - Renaissance Age
6 - Industrial Age

This guide is for 2023 and onwards. Tested on v3.3 build 1191. I found that due to updates to the game and low server population the other guides (and the comments) were no longer helpful. Luckily I've found a consistent and fast way to boost this which can be done solo using a second xbox account. This game is free to play so you don't need to make any purchases on the second account.

Basically all you need to do is set up your second account with a bug in the game that will allow you to repeatedly attack via the defensive battle reports menu. Then you can get near-infinite defensive wins using a single unit. No cooldowns required. Though I recommend logging into your main account every hundred trophies to check progress because this game's servers are quite buggy. That will incur a 10 minute cooldown. This should be way faster than gaining trophies in PVP the normal way.

First you'll need to get you account to the same age and within 100-150 trophies of your main account. This is much easier if you have just started the game. It'll be a grind for late ages, but probably still less of a grind than getting 2500 trophies legitimately. Once you are within range of trophies and the same age, use the PVP battle menu called "enemies" and keep pressing cn_Y to refresh until you see your main account. Then simply attack your main account with a single unit and immediately retreat. You only need to do this once to trigger the defensive report screen.

Now back out to the main menu. This can be done from the options tab of the game to save time. On the main menu press cn_back to switch accounts without needing to exit the game. Sign in with your main account. Now go to battle reports and then defensive reports. You should see the report from your alternate account. There is a 10 minute cooldown before you will be able to attack. Once this has passed press cn_X to attack your alternate account. I recommend sending 1 unit and then retreating to save time. You will be gaining trophies regardless and this will keep the two accounts within trophy range in case the servers bug out and you lose your ability to attack through this menu.

Now what you will do is keep trading defensive wins and hope to trigger the defensive report bug. This bug will put two identical reports in your report history for one attack. The second report will never update to "retaliated" meaning you can use it to start attacks as many times as you like. You want this to trigger when attacking your alternate account from your main account so that you can feed wins to your main account.

Once this setup is done you can attack as fast as you like from your alternate account, sending one unit and then immediately retreating. At first this will net you multiple trophies and should quickly boost your main account by about 800 trophies. Then it will slow down to 1 trophy per win. This will still be faster than the other guide though, which also recommends an approach for 1 trophy per win because you don't need to actually attack and get 1 star, something which requires waiting to build units and spending cash. Your alt account can just build grunts and immediately lose after sending 1 unit. Very fast compared to actual PVP wins.

Note: If your trophy count drop below 835, the game will not let you attack via the battle reports menu. You will have to go into PVP and earn some wins to get you trophy count back up. Luckily the game throws you very easy enemies with little defenses at that low trophy count.

Also Note: The Reports popup when you log back into your main account will only show the total trophies for your last 20 battles. All trophies should be counted regardless of this total. I tested this thoroughly and only the progress for the defensive wins achievement is impacted by this limitation. I normally unlocked around 100 trophies at a time before logging back into my main account to check progress.

I unlocked this achievement in 4 evenings of boosting using this method while watching movies . Maybe 10-12 hours total (8 short horror movies). Still a massive grind, but much much faster and more consistent than trying to grind this out in PVP on the current dead servers. I personally hit a hard wall around 1200 trophies were I could not win any battles due to my PVP list only being the same 8 people over and over. This method allowed me to bypass PVP entirely and grind wins a lot faster (no waiting on troops to replenish).

Leave a comment if you need further clarification on anything. Cheers! toast

This is the second longest achievement in the game. You can get anywhere from one to around fifteen trophies for winning a battle of offense. Simply keep attacking people in order to get wins and trophies - it's as simple as that, but it takes a long time to get 2500 trophies. Refer to the walkthrough at the start of the guide for a specific strategy on this.
