How to unlock the Getting Busy achievement in Before We Leave - Definitive Guide
Thumbs up to m1atz2e for the boat trick. I utilized this to obtain this achievement, but not quite in the same way. I loaded up 30 peeps at a time and just parked them out of the way and left them as I'm guessing the game grabs mostly happy peeps when putting them on a ship. It seemed to leave behind the sad, homeless ones. Or at least enough of them to not make much of a difference.
Now according to the rules of this scenario, you should not be able to park them and forget them. It specifically states that if peeps stay on board too long, they become unhappy. This is apparently glitched for now as this is not true in my experience of completing this. If this gets patched/doesn't work for you, then you will need to constantly rotate them around from a happy island to a ship.
Also contrary to the stated rule, you do not need a house/bed for ever peep or even all peeps not on boats. I had close to 100 homeless peeps when I reached 1000 peeps spawned. The main thing is to make sure you never have 200 sad peeps at the same time. Using the boat trick, I always stayed at less than 100, usually in the 60/70 range late game.
RULES of this Scenario:
1. Peeps now spawn continuously without schools.
2. Children that don't go to school start out sad when they become an adult.
3. Hunger, homelessness, and staying too long on a ship as a passenger causes unhappiness.
4. House 1000 peeps and keep them happy to win
5. You loose if 200 peeps are sad at the same time.
At the end of this scenario, I had 21 regular trade ships with 30 peeps each parked out of the way. So 630 out of 1000 peeps were aboard ships. I only built enough housing for 334 peeps across 4 islands and thus kept my island populations close to the number of beds available. When the pop reached around 30 or more over this number, I loaded 30 on to a ship and thus this sad, homeless excess now had a place to live to increase their happiness.
An important game concept is that peep expectations increase at certain population thresholds for each island. They start off neutral, but at 61 peeps on an island, they each gain a negative mark against their happiness. At 121, they gain two negatives. At 181, three. And at 241, four. I never let my population on an island stay above 121, for too long. Now if you can consistently supply them with high level bonuses like milk, bread, and smoothies, then going above that number shouldn't be too much of a problem.
Pollution can also be a big problem. I limited my industrial centers to my main island and my desert island, which luckily also contained oil. I advanced the tech tree to get to Pollution Cleaner, Chemicals, Tinkering, and Clean Power as soon as I could. I failed my first attempt at this scenario, in part, because my industry production slowed to a crawl and workers became more unhappy because of pollution. Warehouses are also your friend. Store up a single warehouse or two with wood and tools in order to be ready for big demands when building industrial buildings and housing upgrades.
So how do I put peeps on a trade ship??? After the ship is built, click on it once to select it and then direct it to the port on the island you want to get peeps from. Once there, it will pop up a screen that allows you to directly load peeps, or any other goods and resources available. 30 is the max for a regular trade ship and 60 for a large one build at an upgraded Shipwright. The larger ones do require refined fuel. You cannot put peeps on trade ships that are assigned to shipping lanes.
How do I monitor peeps' happiness? I have 100 sad peeps, but which islands are they on??? When you are over an island, the info bar at the top tells you how much of the 3 key resources you have on that island, the island number in green, and then the number of peeps on the island, followed by the number of available beds. If you press the back button, it goes to an info screen with 3 tabs - Resources, Peeps, and Buildings. Click on the peeps tab and it will show every individual peep on the island. You can sort this list by happiness as well as click the green arrow just to the right to change from most happy peep, to least happy order. This tab provides several types of info pertaining to a peep's happiness, but most importantly it lets you now exactly how many sad peeps are on an island.
You can also press Right Bumper when over an island, click the smilie face, and it will bring up an overlay of various things affecting the happiness of peeps.
The achievement pops after you reach 1000 peeps and the credits screen appears. It took me a little over 11 in-game hours to complete.

Yep this works well. You can keep it really simple - don't advance much at all, just build up each island to be able to house around 60 and ship 30 off each time you get to 35+ peeps on an island. I didn't bother much with industry or advanced research, just chuck down some huts, vegetable gardens and wells. I put down some fountains as well but I don't really even think that was necessary.
With four islands set up and 4x speed you can basically let it run itself while you do other things, periodically shipping out some more peeps from each island. Was around 9 hours of in-game time for me, mostly just letting it do its own thing.

I can confirm that peeps who are on a ship stay happy. I have filled about 20 ships. This took the pressure off the islands. In any other way, it is not possible at all to meet all needs.
Smoothies and meals were helpful in keeping the peeps happy. I brought all the ingredients to the first island, processed them there and distributed them to the other islands towards the end of the game.
Last time I always had around 140 dissatisfied peeps. Sometimes more, sometimes less.
A very big help were the gathering places. They got me through many a dry spell. It's best to have several of them so that you can activate them in turn.

For me the trick was to "collect" happy people on ships.
I had one island with around 100 people, enough bread and milk. When another island gets unhappy I carried 60 over to my "happy island". Before unloading them I packed 60 of the happy ones on another ship and parked it somewhere. The statisfaction level on the parked ones does not drop and at the end I had 9 parked ships.
