How to unlock the Striker achievement in Big Bumpin - Definitive Guide
If you can't find anyone online, here's a way to do this achievement solo.
Note: Local multiplayer with 4 controllers does NOT work.
From the main menu:
- Single Player
- Rides
- Select Kings Court Bumpin Hockey (don't press A yet)
- Press X for "Have It Your Way" i.e. options
Change the game options to:
- AI Setting: Easy
- Pickups: Crazy
- Match Duration: your choice of 1-60 min. Progress only saves when the game ends. I usually did 5 or 10 min, just in case of a lockup, power outage, etc.
Now press A to start an exciting round of Bumpin Hockey!
Main strategy: Use the Super Magnet pick-up to drive the puck to the other team's goal.
Various pick-ups periodically spawn in the four corners of the map. Touching one picks it up. If the puck touches it, it goes away. Go for all pick-ups so they keep respawning and you get a magnet quicker. Unless you're near it, ignore Heavy Puck (it looks like a weight), as all of the AI always go for those. Once you grab a magnet, quickly maneuver around the obstacles and other players to drag and/or attach the puck then drive it to the other team's goal to score.
A few other tips:
- Expect sabotage, not teamwork, from your AI partner
- There is one "smart" AI on the other team
- Heavy Puck + Magnet = Good!
- If you touch another pick-up while you have the magnet, you lose the magnet
- Only use boost (A button) while magnetically dragging the puck if there's no chance of a car getting in between you and the puck
- It helps to enter the top or bottom of the goal and follow the curve so the puck registers as in, especially if there are cars crowding you
- Only goals scored for your team count (not "own goals" for the other team)
- I prefer this map over Ice Box because the rectangle's edges are further from the bumper obstacles, but it can be done on either hockey map
- The achievement pops as soon as you make 100 goals

I was told this could only be done in an online game. Did you unlock it playing solo?

Yes, I got it solo in local single player mode. If you don't want to grind it all at once (I certainly didn't!) it can be done over multiple days. I'm not sure if local & online goals get added together, or if online goals only count if you're host, like some have mentioned for other achievements in this game.

Set up a hockey match with 3 other people and have the people not scoring move out of the way. You can get about 35-45 goals in a match.
Note: Only the host of the game can unlock the achievement.

no it needs to be ranked. youll have to boost it. and to save you the trouble you really really need 4 people.

It does not need to be ranked. It can be in public matches.

Me and my buddy called this solution "Blocking". Both sides are given an AI Player, so the trick is for your buddy to ram/bump/knock/block his AI player out of the way to open up a free shot at his open net. Do this 100 times and the achievement is yours.
We all know this game is terrible. Nobody plays online and even finding 3 other people who want to boost this is very difficult. If you find single player too tedious though and can find 1 other person who wants to boost here's what me and "IIVII A F ii A" figured out while getting the achievement.
1) Play an online Hockey match in the Ice Box level. Why not King's Court? When we played the AI was more difficult on that board and more helpful to our boosting on Ice Box.*
2) The person who's boosting has to score so the puck starts with in front of the opposing team. Doesn't matter who hits it in the goal (i.e. Own Goal works)
3) Player on the losing (non-boosting) side; your AI will automatically move down to give you space to play and get the puck. Instead you also head down and bump them out of the way.
4) Boosting player hits 'A' to boost right away and pull ahead of his teammate. Assuming the opponents did their part right you can easily bump the puck into the goal.
Once we figured this out and got in the groove we could score every two seconds and get over 40 points a game.
*1a) I don't think it mattered but one of us was the King, the other was the chicken character.
