How to unlock the Amygdala achievement in Bloodborne - Definitive Guide

Amygdala is a hidden boss in the game that many players will not come across naturally. To find the boss, follow these steps:

- Go to the Forbidden Woods and find the dog cages (there is only one place in the Woods that has dog cages, so it's fairly hard to miss). There is a house nearby with a lantern. Talk to the person in this house and he will give you an item called the "Tonsil Stone".
- Go to the room where you spawned immediately after defeating Rom, the Vacuous Spider (if you've forgotten how to get here, go to the lamp at the top of Yahar'gul, Unseen Village and then backtrack up the steps behind you). There is a giant monster hanging on the wall in this room who will try to grab you. Let it (if you don't have the Tonsil Stone yet, this will kill you).
- You will be teleported to a new section of the Nightmare Lecture Building (and hence will earn the "Nightmare Lecture Building" trophy if you haven't already). Follow the path to the end and you will end up in a new section of Mergo's Loft (the outside nightmare area). Make your way through this (fairly long and difficult) area.
- You will eventually cross a narrow bridge that leads into a large, open circular area. Once you reach the middle of this circular area, Amygdala will drop down, and you will fight it.
The strategy for Amygdala is to stay behind it at its tail. Most of its attacks take place in front of it or directly under it (so do not stand right under its hind legs or under its chest). Also, do not lock on, as that will just make it more difficult to target its tail. Just slash away at its tail and heal when necessary, and you should be OK as long as you avoid its frontal attacks.

You will earn the "Chalice of Ailing Loran" at the same time as this trophy. See the following video guide:

There is a different way to reach the Nightmare Frontier with boss Amygdala. In the regular game route, you defeat The Reborn One and enter Lecture Building's 2nd floor. Before exiting through the back door, you might as well defeat the giant creature in the far right corner that is guarding a ladder to the 1st floor. After having a weird encounter, you can open the door and exit the Lecture Building on the 1st floor to enter Nightmare Frontier. No need to get a Tonsil Stone and get grabbed by a lesser Amygdala.

How to Defeat Amygdala - Defeat Great One: Amygdala.

This boss and trophy are fairly easy to unlock. This battle can be fairly easy, stick to his back near his tail. The biggest thing to watch out for are his jumps. Do not roll sideways or you will be crushed, if you can when he jumps angle your camera to see him in the sky and roll towards him. Continue this and soon his health should reach zero!

Once this happens the boss should be defeated and your trophy should pop! Enjoy!

The boss is quite boring, primarily because it’s not convenient to run to it The location is simply hell for the eyes and brain, it was extremely difficult for me to navigate

The boss itself is quite simple, it is best to stand in front of it and when attacking it, simply step back for 1-2 jerks. After its attacks, it lowers its head, and we hit it with all our might. I hit with a spread out cane, with its range I did 3-4 hits at a time for 1k level, for example. He stopped the boss 2 times and carried out riposte with simple attacks, apparently his head is painful

Try to save your heals at the end of the battle, somewhere around 30% he will tear off 2 hands and take them into others and the attack range will increase extremely greatly. Then you should rely purely on rolls and a little luck and kill him faster than he can kill you.

I don’t recommend standing under the boss himself; he sometimes pours out a puddle, which causes a lot of damage and prevents you from running away. You can easily die from it.

At the location there is an excellent shortcut directly to the boss, when you stand on the bridge leading to him, turn right, there is still a monster with a torch standing on a hill, kill him and go further, there will be an elevator leading right to the very beginning to the lantern.

You can simply run between her paws and stand behind her. As she starts to turn, she jumps. We start charging the weapon (it’s best if it has a sweeping charged attack. You can miss with a stabbing blow from a sword) and when she lands, we hit her on the head. Clearly in my video guide at the moment 01:04:20:

I also want to add that the boss receives additional damage from the Arcana (Enchant the weapon with the “Empty Phantom Shell”).

PS Killed me on the first try, lol.

Easy Destruction: You will need a full supply of mercury ammo and about 5 boosts to shoot. Start the battle, you can carry out several blows at point-blank range, then attack from afar, choosing the moment when the Amygdala is motionless or becomes motionless. After dealing a certain amount of damage, it goes into stun - deliver a critical blow at point-blank range. Next, you can replenish your ammunition by drinking HP and drinking blood. The boss is completely killed remotely without any problems.

the boss is very dull and slow. You can stand behind and hit with your legs, it will take longer due to little damage to your legs, but it’s safe and easy to stand behind

In the third stage, he no longer pours acid on himself. As a result, he was often under him and hit not only the hind legs, but also the front legs, where the damage was much greater than the hind legs.

In fact, the boss is easy, he is affected by fatal blows, in my case I had Ludwig’s Sacred Blade in two hands and when the boss lowered his head I ran at him and pressed the runner , parrying took place and after that I pressed , a deadly attack took place and almost half of his HP was taken away, with a runoin the fatal damage could be even more, as written above, it’s easy to stay away from him in front.

The easiest and most reliable tactic, especially when fighting in a bowl, where health is 2 times less:
1) We run around the Amygdala and stand behind its tail
2) If he waves his arms or tries to stomp, then we tilt back
3) We are waiting for her to jump, you can hit her tail
4) When she jumps, we stand still and turn the character in the opposite direction
5) As soon as she lands, we immediately hit her on the head (the number of hits is at your discretion, but the fewer the better)
6) We run very quickly between the legs and stand again by her tail
7) Repeat steps 2 to 6 until we fail it
PS
The tactic is safe and works at all stages.
It is recommended to use some weapon with a large radius of destruction both in height and range (I personally used an ax)

In case anyone can't find the boss:

To get to the nightmare border, you need:

1) Get an almond-shaped stone. It can be obtained from the window of any NPC you can talk to during the Blood Moon phase. Someone will speak to you and give you the stone.

2) For the Blood Moon to rise in the game (after killing Rom). Further, after killing the Idle Spider, we appear in the temple on a bowl, in front of us is the younger Amygdala. We allow ourselves to be captured, thus ending up in the lecture hall. Next we find a door that will take us to the border of the nightmare.

About the boss:

1) There is a cut-lift to it. If you stand in front of the bridge that leads to the Amygdala, the elevator will be on the right.

2) Regarding tactics: during the first and second phases, it is advisable to stay at a distance and constantly wait for him to lower his head. During the third phase, his attack radius will increase sharply. Therefore, it would be best to spin around his tail and hit it (this can be done during the first two phases, but for a long time): the damage is not great, but, firstly, it is quite safe, and secondly, Amygdala often starts jumping to the side, again with its tail towards us, which is beneficial for us)).

Located in the "Border of Nightmare" location. We run straight from the lantern, running out of the cave to the left and straight, then to the right to the swamp and from the very right part of the bank we run straight through the swamp. At the entrance to the cave, the giant throws stones, we run past him and don’t rush to the right to run, you need to put a sedative in the quick access slot, at least 6 pieces. There will be a singing woman-brain and your madness scale will go off scale, you will have to rush. After crossing the bridge, you will come out to the tower and the battle will begin.
