How to unlock the Slaughterhouse 3 achievement in Borderlands 3 - Definitive Guide
There are three Circles of Slaughter that need to be completed. They can be found on Pandora, Promethea and Nekrotafeyo.
Pandora's is "The Slaughter Shaft" and the entrance can be found in Konrad's Hold.
Promethea's is the "Cistern of Slaughter" and the entrance can be found in Meridian Metroplex.
Nekrotafeyo's is "Slaughterstar 3000" and the entrance can be found in Desolation's Edge. This one is different than the rest, as you will need to go back to Sanctuary and discover a new planet.
Here's screenshots showing the locations of all 3 entrances. https://imgur.com/gallery/gouYRgA
If you find you are struggling, you can go into your settings and put the difficulty down to easier to help you beat the circles of slaughter.
Edit: If you're going to leave a negative, let me know why. I get that the slaughter's are a buggy mess. However, if there is something that you feel is missing from the solution, let me know what it is.

Is anyone having an issue with the last round not finishing. Always gets stuck on 4/5 with no enemies spawning?

slaughterstar 3000 also has a bug that if you navigate to there and then don't use the drop pod before navigating somewhere else then the next time you try to go there you can't since the option isn't on the navigation screen anymore.

I had some issues with the circles. So i put some tips below on beating them. It took me a few days and a few tries (especially with Slaughterstar 3000) but i was able to beat them all with Zane (no specific ability build) and 2 of them solo.
The Slaughter Shaft: (Solo)
- This is by far the easiest of the slaughters and i rolled with a decent smg with fire damage. Nothing too specific. I believe i beat this only dying once or twice
- All enemies are human or with shields so a fire weapon helps a ton when dealing with enemies
- Try to kill the BA Tinks before they place down their turrets, it makes life a lot easier
The Cistern of Slaughter: (Co-op)
- This is the only slaughter where downed teammates can respawn and join back in the fight. Therefore it's really simple to beat with multiple people (It's common that people will farm cash and legendary weapons here for this reason).
- The rounds seemed a lot longer with this slaughter. Some rounds honestly felt endless. Just keep an eye on your teammates who go down. This will take the longest time to beat of the 3 slaughters, but you get tons of blue and purple loot from BA enemies.
- The rakks were a pain to take down. I noticed Moze's special was great at taking them down but it will take awhile to kill them as they move quickly around the map.
- Leave the rakks till the end of the round. Focus on the ground enemies
-Fire weapons help a ton.
The Slaughterstar 3000: (Solo)
- This is the hardest of the slaughters and i was surprised i did this solo. I didn't have a specific skill build. I just used the drone for some extra damage and the digi-clone as a decoy to take some of the fire away from me. There are many op builds on youtube and many of them help a ton post-game.
- The gun that helped a lot with this run was the One Pump Chump (watch a video on where to find it). It will 1 critical shot any small enemy and will take 3 critical shots to kill heavies.
- KEEP MOVING!!! Staying in one spot will be the death of you in the middle rounds
- Powerhouse heavies are the bane of your existence and killing them quickly is your main priority. They will deplete your shields and down you in seconds if you're not careful.
- I did not use The Transformer shield for my run but it can help if you find it. In this case keep
powerhouse heavies alive as they will replenish your shields.
- Sometimes small enemy drones will shield or buff enemies (you'll see little drones shooting blue beams). Take these out as some enemies will be hard to kill otherwise.
- The big robots in the end are fairly easy to kill. Just keep running from their rockets and running back and forth from one side of the map to the other while peppering their crit spots
- Use a jakobs rifle or smg as the one pump chump isn't really that accurate.
I really hope their is a patch that makes this easier in the future, but for now these tips seem to work.

I have to agree with your opinion about SS3000, that one was a royal pain in the A$$. Though I had the most fun playing through the Slaughter Shaft, even with a few deaths. I completed all Circle of Slaughters solo.

Nice tips, but you should add the locations as well, so it would be a complete solution. +1 from me.

For some reason, my quest for the third one was counted as complete in the log even though I never did it. You need to travel to Slaughterstar 3000 from the Sanctuary ship, it counts as a separate planet.
Note: Please use my Spreadsheet to keep track of how many Circles of Slaughter you have completed: LINK
There are 3 Circles of Slaughter in the Game:
Cistern of Slaughter (very buggy if done in Co-Op) - Accessed via Meridian Metroplex: LINK
The Slaughter Shaft - Accessed via Konrad's Hold: LINK
Slaughterstar 3000 - Triggered via a Side Mission on Nekrotafeyo in the Desolation's Edge map: LINK (There's no mission marker in this screenshot, because I lost the original so had to take another after the marker had gone).
Of the 3, Slaughterstar 3000 is the hardest one but can sometimes glitch in your favour and end early when you reach Round 5-4 or 5-5 so take advantage of this if it happens and return to Lt. Wells immediately! The Cistern of Slaughter is also very buggy, especially if done in co-op so play solo to avoid most of the issues. Between each round, you can return to the lobby to refill your health and ammo but don't leave the map or quit the game, else your progress will be wiped and you'll have to redo the entire arena from scratch. Matchmaking for the Circles of Slaughter, is very broken at the moment and won't always match you with people playing the applicable Circle of Slaughter so should be avoided. Basic Tips:
-
Play patched - Various changes have been made to the Circles of Slaughter since launch, that include progression fixes, stability fixes, difficulty reductions, A.I adjustments, collision detection fixes etc. so make sure you have the latest Patch and Hot Fix installed, before attempting this trophy.
-
Use the level scaling to your advantage - The Circles of Slaughter, scale to your level so doing them as early as possible will make life easier.
-
Use a build that suits your playstyle - It pays to tailor your character, weapons and skills to your playstyle, because then you can maximise your damage and make it harder to die. If your current build isn't working and just getting you killed, return to Sanctuary III and use the Quick-Change kiosk to respec into a new one. Since the Circles of Slaughter are failable missions, returning to Sanctuary III will auto-fail the one you're currently attempting so keep that in mind.
-
Keep moving - Standing still is a great way to get yourself killed so keep moving and strafing to make it harder for enemies to target you.
-
Bring some Atlas weapons with you - All Atlas weapons have a homing ability that allows you to hit flying enemies easier and shoot round corners so will make life so much easier in the Cistern of Slaughter and Slaughterstar 3000. If you're playing as Moze, then you can skip the Atlas Weapons you spec into the Demolition Woman tree instead and equip the Vanquisher Rocket Pod skill and Active Tracking mod. In Amara's case, you should spec into the Fist of the Elements tree, then equip Phasegrasp as your active skill and add the Ties that Bind mod but do note that the Bloated Rakk in the Cistern of Slaughter, can't be Phasegrasped.
-
Bring weapons in all elements - Focusing on just 1 or 2 types of elemental damage, will make it harder to kill enemies and cause you to waste time and ammo so bring weapons in all elements i.e. Radiation, Shock, Fire, Corrosive and Cryo, plus some explosive and non-elemental ones as well. Maliwan weapons always come in 2 elements so you can switch between them on-the-fly and not have to switch weapons. The Slaughterstar 3000, features mostly robot enemies in the later waves so bring a strong corrosive weapon with you to take them out.
-
Recharge Rate and Delay, matters - When it comes to shields, capacity isn't as important as the Recharge Rate and Recharge Delay, because you can have the highest capacity shield in the game but isn't worth anything if it takes forever to recharge so the lower the Recharge Delay and Rate, the better!
-
Learn from your mistakes - Mistakes are going to happen but losing your temper won't help, thus you should take a step back for a bit and calm down before figuring out what went wrong.
-
Pick up everything - Due to a potential stability problem, it's recommended you pick up and sell all the loot that drops from the various enemies so a memory leak doesn't occur and crash your game.
-
Resupply between rounds - After each round has been successfully completed, you will be allowed to return to the lobby and resupply with ammo and buy a new Shield or Grenade mod if necessary. You can resupply during each round by opening the various ammo crates that are dotted around the map but these are limited and won't refill until after that round has been either completed or failed so use them sparingly.
-
Upgrade your Ammo capacity - An empty magazine = one very dead player so head to Marcus's store on Sanctuary III and upgrade your Ammo capacity for every weapon, to at least Rare (Blue) or Epic (Purple) status but do note this will require a lot of money so
Sell all your unwanted items whenever you see a vending machine.
-
Tip Moxxi - If you're having a hard time keeping your health up, then tipping Moxxi a lot of money will earn you the Crit SMG and Hail Assault Rifle (you will get one, then have to tip her more cash to get the other). Both of these guns will give you a small amount of health back for each shot that hits an enemy but do note that the Crit will occasionally fall out of your hands when reloading and the Hail requires careful aiming so each shot breaks up in mid-air the way it's supposed to.
-
Leave Mayhem Mode alone - Mayhem Mode (which is unlocked after finishing the main story) will make your life much, much harder so leave it turned off if you have it available.
-
Cheat - If you have a second account and controller handy, you can cheat your way through the Circles of Slaughter by abusing the same low level character exploit that worked for the Underdome DLC in BL1. To get this exploit to work, do the following: Speedrun your Alt account through the main story until the Circles of Slaughter becomes available, then invite your main account and have them do all the work. The lower your Alt account's level is, the easier the Circles of Slaughter will be for you but make sure both players have the Co-Op difficulty set to Coopetition and not Cooperation (Main Menu => => press once => on the Cogs => change to Coopetition => press to confirm) so the difficulty and loot will scale to the host and not both players. Credit to shatulance for confirming this trick still works.
- Bring a Shock Element Recurring Hex Grenade Mod with you - Enemies getting in, on, above, under and behind the scenery is a problem that has been around since Borderlands 1 but you can alleviate this, by bringing a Shock Element Recurring Hex Grenade Mod with you and lobbing them at the offending enemy. If this doesn't work, then you will have no option but to kill yourself and restart the round from scratch. Credit to H!NO and AerisFlowerGirl for this info.

There are three slotters in the game.
1. Cistern of slaughter. You can get into it from the planet Promethea, in the Meridian Metroplex zone. Go to the location in the center of the map at the very bottom along the Z axis. There are dinosaurs, rekki and similar fauna.
2. The slaughter shaft. Pandora, Konrad's hold. After taking the elevator up, in the middle of the location. You will pass by along the plot. It will be necessary to kill crowds of bandits - dwarfs, psychos, goliaths and the like.
3. Slaughterstar 3000. Nekrotafeyo. The quest is taken near the blown-up bridge to the storage facility, after which you need to jump to the location using the shelter. You will also pass by as part of the plot. Well, there will be a crowd of Maliwan soldiers, obviously.
General recommendations are something like this:
- Pass as early as possible
- Start the arena when there are 20 percent left to the next level (during the arena there will be a lvl and you can kill the dummies faster)
- Between rounds (before you press the button) you can run to replenish cartridges from the vending machine (the exits are open, the quest does not fail)
- Don’t die (just kidding. You can die, but you’ll have to start the round over again)
- Do not leave the location until the quest is completed.
- If you die a lot of times (around 10-15, I don’t know exactly), then an immortal quest giver will come to your aid. And if there is just a LOT, then the waves will have a small timer, when triggered, the current wave will end, even if all the mobs from it are not completely killed. I don't know if this is a bug or a feature. It works on 1.01.
- If you play with a friend, then in Slaughterstar 3000 after death you can take the elevator into the glass gut and shoot from there. There are probably similar places in the other two arenas.
Sometimes something strange happens and in the level 45 arena mobs spawn not at levels 44-46, but at levels 24-26. I didn’t find any pattern and you shouldn’t hope for it, BUT SUDDENLY.

after each death the waves decrease, for the sake of experiment I died 10 times and on Slaughterstar 3000 there were no final bosses at all

Slaughterhouses with animals and bandits did not cause any particular problems: with bandits there is a lot of space - there is room to run away and restore the shield, with animals it seemed more difficult because of the rakks and the smaller area.
But massacre 3000 turned out to be the most difficult and long, but it was obviously easier because of the weapon - a “skilled burner” accidentally knocked out the pistol, it dropped from one of the mobs at the massacre with the bandits.
So this pistol kills every living thing in one or two seconds, because it has 2 modes for fire and electricity.
This is what helped mow down the Malivans in the 3000 slaughterhouse - they were slaughtered in droves if they stood in a heap. Celine in a heap - a short press was enough. The baker has one drawback - it spins a little before attacking, but you get used to it.
The first 4 rounds went without problems, the 5th played it safe and sat at the very top in the corner of the map - there is only one such place, a ladder leads there - I shot an expert storm with a rifle, it has 17k damage from electricity
Mobs don’t get in there and don’t come out, sometimes dogs and some devils with a scythe come running, but they can all be tracked by radar and quickly mowed down.
The rest were killed with a pistol and other weapons so as not to run out of cartridges (all cartridge belts were pumped up to around 1000 units)
In the end, it’s not a very difficult test, but it’s extremely protracted: if someone screws you over, you really don’t want to start the round all over again.
Passed it at level 60, didn’t try it at earlier levels.

They wrote here that it is better to go through the slaughterhouses as early as possible...
No no and one more time no!
They become disproportionately easier once you reach level 50, when you already have orange equipment and guardian ranks accumulate. In this situation, similar difficulties can arise only at Starbreaker-3000, but here are some tips that will help you avoid even them:
- for the quest "It's alive!" on Nekrotafeyo you can get the legendary Transformer shield, which gives 100% immunity to shock damage; during waves, leave the electric “heavyweights” for later, because their attacks will even heal you.
- Atlas has a very powerful assault rifle Q-module (not legendary, but the most common blue/purple one, drops quite often); it is not elemental, so it removes both shields and health well: if you get bonuses to rifle damage on a class mod and an artifact, ordinary ordinary “Mallivans” will literally fall with five bullets in the torso, and “heavyweights” and “crazy” - where something from 20-30.
- the bosses at the end of the last wave will not be able to do anything to you if you stand against the wall under the canopy on the blue side (behind the corrosive puddle), the main thing is that you have enough ammo; they need to shoot at small glowing yellow dots, for example, in the area of the “knees”.
