How to unlock the Diver achievement in Brotato - Definitive Guide
We're going to utilize the Diver's built-in preference for Precise weapons to go with a full "Thief Dagger" build. We are going to be so rich, critically hitting nonstop, and having a damage output that makes us able to just kill everything on screen.
Our goal is to have 2 Harpoon Guns and 4 Thief Daggers eventually. Prioritize getting as many Thief Daggers as you can in the beginning and then work on upgrading them to higher rarity as more show up. If you can get a cursed one then that'll be perfect - a curse build will help here so pick up any cursed items you can, especially the fishhook because then we can lock items we want to give them a chance to become cursed which will make them even stronger.
Thief Daggers give you a chance to get extra materials when you kill an enemy with a critical hit, and we can hit max crit chance pretty early which is going to let us comfortably buy out shops and pick exactly what we want. You'll have a lot of extra spending money to reroll level-up upgrades and the shop if you don't see anything you like.
We want to get a ton of Melee Damage upgrades as the Diver gains HP regeneration for every 2 melee damage which lets us get survivability at the same time as offense. ALWAYS take crit chance until your daggers have 100% crit chance - you can inspect their current amount by pausing and looking at your items mid-run or hovering over them in the shop. Thief daggers have a built-in crit chance that goes up as you increase their rarity, so you just want to keep an eye on that. Once they have 100% you no longer need to take that stat and can focus more on Melee Damage or % Damage for offense.
Grab some Dodge, Armor, and Max HP when you can - especially if a higher rarity level up reward favoring one of them appear. The Diver right away starts off pretty strong so it's very easy to hit the point of melting everything on screen but early-game you are at high risk of taking big hits and not healing it up right away, so don't neglect defense right away.
There are so many useful items that will benefit you and you'll have a lot of extra money to be able to buy them, so just buy anything that increases those core damage stats and don't worry about lowering the others. Your Ranged Damage is already -100% because the Diver only uses range to proc the triple damage debuff (which is what your harpoon gun will do).
Good luck, have fun!

To summarize all of the character text and description ingame, you start with a Harpoon Gun but your Ranged Damage is awful. You therefore won't be killing enemies with the Harpoon Gun, and instead will be pulling enemies close to you with it. Your Melee Damage is massive if an enemy has already been hit with Ranged Damage, meaning enemies that are pulled toward you with the Harpoon Gun take far more damage.
What all of that means is make a melee build. Harpoon Guns are really cheap in the shop, if you happen to see one, but I don't recommend buying them, if any. I personally stuck with just the one the entire time. A second might be okay, but any weapon slots used for Harpoon Guns are one less weapon slot to actually deal damage. Otherwise, just pump up Melee Damage, Damage, and the usual offensive stuff. However, I also recommend putting points in either Dodge or Armor, because with all the enemies being pulled toward you, there's a good chance you'll be getting hit a decent amount on this run. Anything that improves survivability is good (Dodge, Armor, Life Steal, HP Regen, etc.). I only recommend worrying about one or two of those stats though, rather than all four.
