How to unlock the Golden Idol achievement in Bulletstorm - Definitive Guide

Most of these will come natural through the progression of the campaign and/ or Echo; a few might prove difficult and I've tried to add an ** with a quick explanation how. The Secret ones are progressive story related so if you don't want to SPOIL anything for yourself don't scroll that far ahead.

This can be done on multiple playthroughs and modes (campaign/campaign replay/echo) Thxz for @Drummin003 for asking.

As long as the name is uncovered/displayed of the skillshot, it's registered, it doesn't need to be checked off to count towards the achievement. Thxz @Moe Marston for asking.

For the "AIR STRIKE" you have to thump someone in the air and have your CHARGED penetrator and shot the guy in the air then aim your gun at someone standing then hit the RT button on the guy on the ground and the guy in the air with the CHARGED shot will fly to him. hope that helps

@Aesiwatt check the updated list, @TheDevilishEyes they cannot be missed. You can return to replay any chapter and the newsbots and Electro-Flies will be there again. Also Electro-Flies can be found in Echo mode.

Do I have to have the green check mark next to the skillshot for it to count towards the achievement?
Or is performing it good enough?
Cause I've done a few skillshots but ended up dying and having to go back to a checkpoint a few times.

To clarify a typo. On the "Heads Up" Skillshot, you need to use the Charged FLAIL gun, not the Charged Flare that is on the pistol. You have it typoed so it reads Flair, it took me 5-10 minutes trying to figure out what I was doing wrong before I realized that and I suspect LukeyBaby93 had the same problem.

Oh dear god...

Can anyone help me with this? I've completed the game on Hard difficulty and completed it on Very hard too but seems that the skillshots that I've completed on very hard haven't been saved. Any tips for this case? Thank you in advance.
0
0
By Gonzo345 on 16 Mar 2011 23:59
@Gonzo, it seems to be by design that starting a new game or level removes all the checkmarks beside the skillshots you've previously completed (as to allow you to earn more skill points). Though as far as the achievement is concerned you don't need checkmarks beside every skillshot name... you only need to have the skillshot name present (as opposed to appearing as 'locked'), which is why if you perform a new skillshot in echos you won't need to worry about doing it in campaign, and vice-versa. Hopefully this was not too confusing.

i've been having the toughest time getting the direct hit (bouncer) skillshot... any real tips on getting this 1?
0
0
By All limited on 22 Mar 2011 04:06
To perform the skillshots you are advised to redo the campaign on very easy. It's a lot easier to focus on what you want to get because you don't have to worry about getting shot all the time. Also: You get bonus Skillpoints if you beat the story on an harder difficulty which means normally unlimited ammo and unlimited detonations with your leash (which is very useful).

@All limited
For that one play for example Act 5 Ch 3 (which is the Echo "Downtown") on "Very easy" (or any other chapter on very easy with the bouncer). Then just try to shoot the bouncer while being on a bit of distance, shoot it in a bit of an angle in the air on to an enemy an just let go the second it would touch the enemy. It's a bit of luck, I guess, but when you have a lot of enemies and a lot of bouncer ammo you can get it pretty quickly.

For "Wingmen" under the Penetrator, I have an easier way using the charged shot.

Simply thump a group, shoot one with a charge shot, then simply aim at another enemy and shoot him into the other, no wasting time trying to line up enemies.

When an enemy is standing next to a column or a pole, that the flail can wrap around, aim right at neck height. Picture the flail clotheslining the baddie, wrapping around the pole and decapitating them. Here's a vid I found from a quick search. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6pI-tQvr1q0

yes when your trying for lucky shot i found that act 7 ch 1 right after you get down from the elevator this is where i did air strike and lucky shot but for lucky shot aim high from the door way and try to hit the people on the stairs but dont hold RT when you shot because that makes it bounce it can hit the ground and kill someone though

For pure nitpicking/accuracy purposes, the skillshot for ejecting the Heavy Echo soldiers from the cargo bay is Ejectulated, not Ejaculated.

Also, has anyone found the Ding Dong shot to be bugged? In the demo I could get it easily, but I must have tried it 20 times in the full game with no luck.

@ LukeyBaby93 follow the guide above and you should be able to do it no prob. @ mourningXstar try use the charged Penetrator shot on a normal enemy in front of a slow moving mini-boss. @Moe Marston as long as the name is uncovered/displayed of the skillshot, it's registered, it doesn't need to be checked. @Sgt Slithe you're doing it right but you need to aim for the head, it needs to wrap around the pole or column and the enemy's head at the same time. Best to do it when one of them is leaning on the pole trying to lean in and out of cover to shoot you. @Violent Brown I'll change the title thxz and Ding Dong I had problems with too until I went becak and replayed the level and it popped no problem.

Hey for ding dong, you may want to mention it is at the very first bad guys in the echo and if you just run under the door (thats above the first blocker you must jump) and pull it, likely that first guy that was runnin for the cover will get hit. Once I figured out where the damn door was i got it on my first attempt

I have a question. For some reason the game reset the skillshots i'd done. I had about 50 and then I loaded up the game and it said 0/131. All the ones i'd done were still there, it just doesn't register the count. (This happened with my collectibles too) Is there any point trying to get all of the skillshots for the achievement or will it not unlock?

Hi CoD,first of all thanks for the guide it is very good and you have my thumbs up! Now i would like to add a little but important tip for the Gunslinger Skillshot that it was the hardest for me...and probably this tip will be helpful on some other Skillshots. The thing is...go to options...control...and move your sensitivity bar up at least two times (considering that it was on default)...you will aim and shoot way faster helping you a lot...it was great for me.

I found this guide from gamesradar very helpful as it explains clearly how to get each skillshot and often lists a good place to do it as well.

These videos not only tell you what every skillshot is and what you have to do but will also show you great spots to get them. All credit goes to ssdd2k1 on youtube for these excellent videos!!

I used two solutions, the yours and the Prattalmighty's. I used yours as "how to do" and followed the Prattalmighty solution as checklist. I gave positive for both. Great solution.

This isn't a full guide because I don't see any reason to name off any of the skillshots that the guide above has mentioned BUT for those of you (like me) that only needed 1 or 2 of the skillshots but no-one would tell you specifics about them : this is for you.

Stringer - Act 7 Ch 2 Just after the second air lock you'll encounter a group of 4 enemies and a machine gun. These 4 enemies are tightly knit together and when using the charged drill shot you'll be able to suspend one in mid-air while the other one is almost directly behind him.
***EDIT*** Stringer can be done in multiple places throughout the campaign. The key about it is to make sure there are enemies close/next to each other. Another good spot to do this is when you're trying to get into an escape pod and you see Heavy Echo trying to get there as well. Most of these enemies will be running from you and you'll be able to shoot one in the back while the other is fairly close and you'll be able to kick his buddy into him.

Lucky Shot - (As mentioned above) Go to Act 4 Ch 2 and go to the top of the stairs with the hot dog cart. Kick the 2 enemies that run towards you and go to the left stairs, there should be one enemy that runs into the side of a electronic sign (Big square sign) this is almost directly at the bottom of the stairs and he'll stay there and shoot from cover. The only way you can get this is by shooting the cannonball WITHOUT holding down the trigger, lucky shot is for killing an enemy with the explosion upon hitting the ground.

Nut Cracker - You don't actually have to guide the bullet into the enemies crotch. I did this skillshot by aiming at an enemy with another enemy behind him, aim in the general area of the "behind" enemy and you may press B the make the bullet instantly shoot in a straight line (becoming like a normal fast sniper bullet). This enemy should be firing at you and he'll leave his crotch exposed.

Fly Guy - Act 2 Ch 1 - There's a swarm of flies over a pool of water with a Drop Box in the water as well. There should be enemies shooting you from the pillars across. There will be 2 regular Skulls and a couple of "firework-shooting" enemies. You can leash the normal enemies and then look up, as well as press up with the LS as well (This worked for me). If you run out of normal enemies, don't fret you can shoot the firework-shooters and they'll flinch you can then grab them too and continue trying. However if all that fails you can also reload checkpoint as well.

Thanks guys, I wish you the best of luck.

I heard some of my friends were having a hard time trying to achieve the "Ding Dong" Secret Skillshot. It's broken in the single player. I've tried countless times to get it. Might just be me, anyway if it doesn't work for you refer to this guys video. Basically all the video is showing is the gamer using Echo's in the collapsed building thus providing the chance to recieve the skillshot where you can kill the enemies as they are right underneath the door you can latch and open from overhead.

Please note: I don't take credit for this video.

only for missing skillshot. you know how sometimes it shows you have certain checked and certain not.

here's the trick every single skill shot you've ever done in campaign, multiplayer or echo.....WILL ALWAYS have a
check OR name OR description(besides secret ones)

best way to tell whichever skillshot you're missing is the one with ? mark instead of name.

You must perform every Single Player Skillshot in the game. There are a total of 131 different skillshots in the game. This will require skillshot performance clean up with the use of Chapter Select. Skillshots are the most important feature of Bulletstorm for the game focuses on using these skillshots to distinguish itself from other First Person Shooters. Even though it's possible to play the game like a normal FPS and simply kill enemies' old school, it is far more entertaining to use skillshots. Skillshots allow you to receive skillpoints for killing an enemy in a skillful way. Skillpoints are used to upgrade your arsenal and will impress your teammates. Skillshots can also be stacked on top of each other to earn even extra skillpoints. When a skillshot is performed for the first time, the player is awarded five times the normal amount of skillpoints earned. Skillshots are displayed in three different colors to distinguish value. Blue are worth 25, orange are worth 50, and red are worth 100. There are some Secret skillshots that are one-time-only skillshots. You can track your skillshots performed by looking at the Dropkit's menu. Please note that you only need to do the ones that aren't highlighted. If you see your skillshots highlighted then you've done that certain skillshot before. Skillshots must be performed once for it to count. For a complete skillshot list visit Bulletstorm skillshot guide | GamesRadar. For a helpful video guide, please see here: LINK

You should unlock this achievement in Act 7, Chapters 1-2. You'll need to execute a total of 131 Skillshots to unlock this. There will be new ones to unlock in each new Act and Chapter, so make sure you look out for them and also check your Skillshot Database. Also remember there's the odd secret one!

For a full list of the Skillshots please go HERE and for a guide on what Skillshots are in what Act, please go HERE.

To see what Skillshots you've pulled off or still need to obtain, press the  button during play and the Skillshots Database menu will pop up. To see weapon ones, you'll need to make sure you've purchased the weapon to see its allocated Skillshots, yet if you pick the weapon up during play and get some of its Skillshots and then buy the gun, those Skillshots will be checked off. If the Skillshot text and name is up but not ticked don't worry it still counts. This normally happens if you do the Skillshot, it registers but then you die before a new Checkpoint.

Skillshots are universal throughout Bulletstorm, so if you complete the game and haven't unlock the achievement do not worry, all the one's you've gained up to that point still count! They can also be gathered in the Echo game mode but the separate list in Anarchy mode does not count toward this achievement.
