How to unlock the Overachiever achievement in Call of Duty: Black Ops II - Definitive Guide

This can be very difficult because of the challenge to fill 4 chests. I highly suggest setting it to Easy difficulty.

In the spawn room, up the stairs to the left is a 'Ritual of the Ancients' board that has challenges for you to complete (there is another board out by Generator Station 6). If you aim at each medal it will bring up a challenge description. The challenges listed are:

1. 115 Normal Zombie Headshots - Rewards Lamentation / Afterburner / Spatz-447 / Agarthan Reaper
2. Capture 6 Generators - Rewards Max Ammo
3. Spend 30,000 points - Rewards Double Tap perk
4. Fill 4 chests to capacity - Rewards Thunder Fists

Challenges 1-3 are individual; Challenge 4 counts for all players. Thanks to ClockWrkPhantom for confirming this.
Every time you complete a challenge, a medal will appear above your perks HUD. You can then head to the stone chest where the challenges are listed to gain a reward.

Headshots and Point Spending
This is pretty straightforward. If you open up the entire map, buy perks, hit the weapon box etc. You'll spend 30k in no time. SMGs or Assault Rifles are excellent for headshots. Of all the weapons you can buy off the wall, you can get the STG-44 in the Church, on top of being a solid choice it has the highest headshot damage multiplier, so I highly recommend it.

Generators
For the six generators and how to capture them, refer to my solution on 'All Your Base'. You do not have to have all six captured at one time, though you must have captured six total at one point.
Call of Duty: Black Ops IIAll Your BaseThe All Your Base achievement in Call of Duty: Black Ops II worth 22 pointsIn Origins, activate all generators without allowing one to stop.

Also as mentioned earlier, this challenge IS counted individually. So, if you aren't on the platform when the generator is powered and a teammate is, it won't count for you. Make you are responsible for powering it.

Filling Chests
I would suggest doing the chests as early as possible for in the higher rounds the zombies will become increasingly overwhelming, and you sometimes face multiple Panzer Soldats.

These chests are found in "No Man's Land". To fill a chest, you must kill zombies around it. You will see its 'soul' enter the chest. When it is filled it will sink into the ground. Please take liberty when you can to acquire good guns and a few perks. Juggernog can be found at Generator Station 4.
The locations of chests are:
-To the left of the Excavation Site (coming out of the Workshop)
-Beside Generator Station 5
-Outside the Church near the Graveyard
-Past Generator Station 4 by an MP40 wall buy

You can never be too safe when doing this: be very cautious during your kills and keep a lookout for Giants that come through. These chests are in areas where they can step, and you don't want to get squished. The thing that makes this an even bigger pain is when Giants step on a chest it will close it, and you'll have to restart the process of filling it again. I would like to stress here that if a Giant resets a chest, immediately start it again: you will have lots of time before the Giant comes back through. Additionally, kills with the Maxis Drone, Nuke, and Electric Cherry perk do not count towards the chest.
One more time watch out for Panzer Soldats. If you have strong guns like Ray Gun/MkII, staffs, etc. then you'll be fine. Just keep a healthy distance from them.

Once you complete your fourth challenge, the achievement will unlock.

Good luck everyone :]

You say that the first 3 challenges are individual, so you need to personally capture 6 generators, not capture them all as a team?

That's what I was thinking as well, about the generators..

I did some testing. You can get them all together, but they count individually. So for example, if everyone got 5 generators, then on the sixth two people didn't capture it and two did, then two people would get the medal.
I can confirm this because I capped all six generators in a four player game and my partners did about 3-4 different ones, but not all six.

I can confirm capping the generators is slightly off if you don't help cap one then it won't count for you. I got this in a game earlier with friends however my one friend did not have his light up even though he was with us the whole time he must've not been close enough or something so be sure you are on the platform while it charges.

The generators challenge does seem slightly buggy (or maybe I've been missing something) because I've captured all 6 before and not had the challenge pop up. Me and a friend will run around the map to capture them all as soon as possible and there have been times where I've got the challenge and he hasn't.

Just make sure you're on the platform the entire time (certainly for the final moments) and I think you'll be ok though.

Great solution! Here's a spending tip. If you're doing this in co-op, and you've already bought all the doors and four perks, and find yourself in a position where you do not want to abandon any of your current weapons in order to spend money on new weapons and Pack-a-Punch, let yourself get downed and have your partner revive you, so you can rebuy perks.

I had the Magna Collider (from the Maxis Drone step) and a staff, and didn't want to abandon those awesome weapons. I didn't luck into Mule Kick from the random perk machine, which would've given me a third weapon slot to spend on. So what we did was, we stayed near Generator 4 and I allowed myself to get downed, so I could repeatedly rebuy Juggernog and the random perk machine. This allowed me to finish out spending 30,000 points.

I found this was easier to do solo, after trying several times with multiple co-op partners. I would find that I was getting kills stolen, panzer soldats took a lot more to kill and at higher rounds spawned several at a time, I would be lacking points for perks/weapons sometimes too, and most annoyingly team mates activating a generator whilst I was on the other side of the map.

The challenges are:
Capture 6 generators
Spend 30,000 points
115 Headshots (On normal zombies)
Fill all chests

I got the achievement on wave 16, had a PaP'ed STG-44, PWD, and SCAR.
The idea is to maximise your points early on so you can get the perks you want as soon as you can. For me those were Juggernog, Quick revive and Speed cola (I also got lucky with a Mule kick for extra fire power).

You need to play whilst focusing on the challenges (Obviously...) That means, aim for the head whenever possible to get the 115 headshots, spending 30,000 points, (Dont waste your points...) By opening up areas to the generators, buying weapons and ammo and pack-a-punching you shouldnt struggle to spend your points. That being said dont waste it, save as much as you can for pack-a-punching/perks.

The way which I suggest to do this is as follows;
From wave 1 try to maximise your points (5 pistol shots to the body followed by a knife) and activate the first generator as soon as you can. (Side note I also bought an MK14 off of the wall at spawn for headshots). Also buy a quick revive before you move out of this area.
Grab a shovel and work your way around to the second generator digging up all the spots you can as they can yeild blood money, zombie blood (Extremely useful for activating the generators) double points and weapons.

Activate generator 2, after that was done, I bought the MP-40 (Great for headshots, and several spots to buy ammo [Shelter, front of excavation site, and behind Juggernog]) from inside of the shelter and continued to earn 2500 points before moving on. This is because you are at an open area and shouldnt get too over-run by zombies.

Run on up to generator 3 (You should be on wave 4-5 by now) and activate it when you can (Beware of the area to side of the generator is in the path of one of the giant robots).
I chose to stay here for a round or two to buy speed cola, and get enough points to open the next door in the area leading to no-mans land.

After entering no-mans land, head left at the excavation site, towards generator 4, again activate it as soon as you can. Your going to want to buy a Juggernog as soon as you can as the Panzer Soldat will be coming soon (for me he spawned at wave 7 or 8, AIM FOR THE HEAD, a few well aimed shots will take him down piece of cake). Now head over to the other side of the excavation site to generator 5.

Activate generator five, once that is done run over to the excavation site and head on over to the church where you'll find the sixth and final generator. (This one in my opinion coupled with generator 5 is the hardest as they are next to zombie spawns and are in a small area).

I advise buying the STG-44 from out of the church, as I found it possibly the most effective way of dealing with those pesky zombies. After the sixth generator is done you will have completed your first (possibly second challenge if you've managed to get the 115 headshots) You will be rewarded with a max ammo if you claim your reward for capturing all generators and Pack-a-Punched weapon for completing the Headshots.

From here I back-tracked and started to work on the chests, the first one being nearest the church, as it was close enough for me to run back to the church to get ammo for the STG if needed. After that I had enough to PaP (Pack-a-Punch) the STG-44. I headed on over to the chest behind Juggernog next. This is when the next Panzer spawned, at wave 13 if my memory serves me correct. However against the STG he didn't stand up too well.

Moving on to the next chest at the bottom of the stairs near the excavation site, beware though, there are several routes the zombies can come from so dont let yourself get trapped between a wall and a zombie.

After filling that, you'll almost be there! Fill the final chest up by the fifth generator, and the achievement should be yours! If you need to spend more points, PaP another weapon or spam buying ammo for a weapon (it costs 4500 to wall buy ammo for a PaP weapon)

Final notes:
- Always aim for the head. Always...
- Perks are your bestfriend, Juggernog is essential to your survial and Quick revive incase you get downed.
- Dont get side-tracked with the random box/perk machine, staff parts, etc.
- Play with the challenges in mind.
- Dig as much as you can.
- Avoid nukes, unless you need to escape from an army of zombies.
- PLAY ON EASY

just to add to what you've said if anyone is getting killed by the panzer soldier if u don't open the door to no man's land he won't spawn. So you can prepare yourself better buy sleight of hand and quick revive and run trains around generator 3 get your 2 favorite weapons out of the box save up like 20-30k then go do everything u get headshots super easily running trains. When your ready just leave one zombie keep it alive to capture the other 3 generators get jugg ur PaP weapons and your other favorite perk. This way u'll have 3 challenges done and u just need to focus on box kills which shouldn't be too bad if you got lucky with monkeys from the box. throw it and unload if u get cornered

I did this is two people. We all accomplished everything in the same match as one person needed everything.
1) Build staffs (Wind/Ice) easiest to get. All the Wind staff parts are in the robots with the yellow record located in the Generator 5 area. You have to wait for it to snow to find the Ice staff parts as they are all dug up throughout the map. The record is in the bunker by Generator 2. The gramophone is underground at the excavation site while the record is located either right outside the site or near the pack-a-punch. You will need to the two elements to build them. The two Crazy place locations is Gen 6 for Ice and Gen 4 for Wind. If you don't want to wait for Snow the lightning staff parts are pretty easy to get using the tank. Parts are, in order, on the right before Gen2 (You'll be able to see it riding the tank) Let the tank cool... Sucks I know.. The next two are easier to get with two people unless you want to make another trip on the tank but they are off a platform you pass at the excavation site and right before you enter the tank station again. The Purple record is by 4 and it's Crazy place is Gen5. Having the staffs also was a huge help killing off the Panzer Soldats that came.

2) We then filled up boxes with headshots. (Use your favorite gun.) We used the STG from the excavation site. After a couple boxes we pack-a-punched. The staffs were mainly a fail safe in case we became over run with zombies. And continued with headshots filling up the four boxes. (Outside the Church, by Gen 4, by Gen 5, and by the excavation site.)

3) From there, We started turning on all the generators the staffs made this a lot easier. All the players need to be on the platform for it to count. You should have three weird looking icons by the round number if you have finished all three of these things.

4) With all the doors, guns, pack-a-punch, etc you should be close to spening 30,000 points. We just bought Mule Kick from under the excavation site. (Place the record player on the table under Pack-a-punch to get to it) bought the AK74u, pack-a-punched it, then bought another perk or two. Ta-da, Achievement won.

-- Again, staffs aren't needed and you can cut on Gen4 for jugg-nog if you really want it. It's just how we did it.

There are four challenges in this game, which can be tracked above the “reward chests.” There are two of those. One in the beginning, where you get the Zombie Blood (or x2, if solo) after activating Generator 1. Another one is by Generator 6 (which rewards you part of the Fire Staff after activating that Generator). This can be obtained by round 15.

Three out of four challenges are based on individual performace. The fourth challenge is collective work (or individual, if solo). When done, a particular grey and golden slab will appear on the HUD. The shape will correspond to the challenge’s ‘stone’ above the Reward Chest. Here are the challenges.

1. 115 Normal Zombie headshots: In solo, this is really not as bad as it may seem. You need an average off-wall gun, preferably the MP40 (1300 points, in the building by generator 2), and kill zombies with headshot. It should be noted that the Ray Gun does not work for headshot (the Ray Gun Mark II, however, does). Pressing will show you how many headshot you get. Though it is obvious, you need to kill regular zombies (Templars don’t count) by shooting them in the head. The reason this is emphasized is because, during Insta-Kill, when a zombie is shot or stabbed, his head is destroyed. So one must pay particular attention during Insta-kill.
2. Capture 6 Generators: You need to have activated every generators at least once. Even if taken down later, it doesn’t matter. In co-op, if you’re not the one to turn on the generator, this is done by staying in the Generator’s area until the meter fills up and you get the 100 points bonus. If missed, you can either start over or wait for Templar zombies to take down the generator you missed. For further info on their locations, refer to the "All Your Base" Trophy.
3. Spend 30,000 points: It’s not about how many points you have, or how many you have accumulated overall. What you need is to spend money. Though this will likely unlock en route to completing the other two challenges, you can simply waste your money by pack-a-punching and buying various off-wall weapons until a hexagonal slab with a golden rectangular outline appears in the middle.
4. Fill 4 chests to capacity: There are dark grey stone chests that need to be filled with over 20 zombies within the ‘perimeters’. These chests are located in the footprint of the Giants; three in the footprints of the middle Giant (footprint behind Jugger-nog, another one in front of the Excavation site and one on the other side of Generator 5), and one in a footprint of the Church’s giant (in the area between the pathway connecting the Excavation site to the Tank). It’s best to fill them right after a Giant passes them. If you start to fill a chest with zombie souls and a Giant steps on it before it is filled, it will reset the progress and it will require more zombie souls to be filled.

This may feel as though it could be a daunting task, but with a little careful planning this is a manageable achievement. First things first, make sure to play this on Easy difficulty to avoid any unnecessary headaches that stem from Original difficulty. Now onto the challenges.

You will be able to find the four challenges listed in two locations on the map:

  1. Located at the chest near generation 1 in spawn
  2. Located at the chest near generation 6 behind the church.

But what are these challenges? When you point your crosshairs over the five different runes on the wall above the chests you will see the challenges listed as follows:

  • 115 Normal Zombie Headshots
  • Capture 6 Generators (Note: While it does not say it, this does not have to be at once, or with them all on at once. If you don't plan on keeping them all up, note which ones you have already captured.
  • Spend 30,000 Points
  • Fill 4 chests to capacity.

So with our list in mind let's tap into a few tips before we begin dissecting each individual challenge:

  • Play the match with the challenges in mind. You may get this achievement while you are going for the Easter Egg, but if you are doing it separately, make sure not to waste time and do unnecessary things that may risk your game.
  • Avoid nukes at all costs. Nukes not only greatly curb the amount of points you can get off of zombies, but they remove possible headshots, and possible souls for the chests. If you need it take it, although be weary of when and how often you do.
  • *Solo-Tip*Avoid picking up Quick Revive until you have made a good mark on the map you are playing. The idea behind this is that the longer you wait to grab quick revive the more times, and the more important the revivals it provides will be. A general rule of thumb I go with is if I am confident in how the map is turning out around round 5, I will go back (after having bought Jugg) and grabbing my first Quick Revive.
  • Deadshot Daiquiri is a good pick up, but it can only be obtained from the Der Wunderfizz machine at one of the generators. Spending the 1,500 a pop may help you on your spend 30,000 challenge, but make sure you are set up with guns and perks before spending here.
  • *Challenge Specific Tip* To start only power up the generators you absolutely need. I suggest only powering up the generator at box (which is random), and the generator at Jugg (Generator 4). This way you are not wasting time and killing zombies away from the chests whilst also making sure to maximize your points. You can easily finish a round leaving one zombie and go around powering up every generator without a problem at the end of any round.
  • *Challenge Specific Tip* The final tip I have is to be mindful of the giant robots. Now I know this may seem obvious, but think of the robots and the chests this way. You can dance around with a train for hours on end, but when the robots come they close your chests and make you start filling souls from the start again. In order to best avoid this, watch for the robots and fill a chest that the robots has just passed. For example, I like to fill the chest by Jugg first, but be mindful of when the middle robot (Odin) has passed through as to not make too much work for yourself.

Now for the challenges themselves:
115 Headshots-
This one will definitely test the "skill factor" of playing zombies. Headshots are sometimes hard to come by, but when placed on Easy this should be more of a waiting game rather than a difficulty game. When you get to the main area (around excavation) make sure to not waste too many zombie kills outside of the chest areas while also not simply spraying and praying (unless in a pinch). Remember you can try your luck on the Der Wunderfizz machine in the attempt to buy Deadshot Daiquiri, but make sure you have decent weapons and Jugg first.

As a reward when you get the 115 headshots you will get a random pack-a-punched weapon. In order to claim it, return to either the spawn challenge box or the challenge box behind church, move your crosshairs over the rune and then hold for the weapon.

Capture 6 Generators-
Now the generator challenge is counted individually if you are playing in a group. This means in order to get credit for powering up a generator you need to be within the circle of influence when it goes live. This is ultimately not a hard task, but one that can be made much easier by keeping a zombie at the end of the round (and if someone is nice having them hold it away from where the rest of the team is working). By doing this you eliminate the chance of killing the zombie accidentally in the process of powering up the generators and ensuring the ease of the task. Note: that each generator costs 200 points + 200 per additional person in the game points to power up, and returns you slightly more than that when the generator turns on.

Generator 1- Inside of the spawn building.
Generator 2- Outside of the bunker that houses a mystery box and the blue CD for the ice staff. The door to get to this generator is near generator 1, or when looking toward the rest of the map, is the right door.
Generator 3- Located through the left door out of spawn, generator three also houses a mystery box, and in the area where the robot can step is a Speed Cola perk machine.
Generator 4- Found in the large middle area of the map, generator four would be to the left when coming out of the workshop/spawn area and houses a mystery box as well as Juggernog.
Generator 5- Is on the opposite side of the middle area when comparing it to generator 4. Generator 4 contains Stamin Up as well as a mystery box.
Generator 6- The final generator is located on the far side of the map behind the church. This final generator contains another challenge box.

Each generator costs 200 points + 200 per additional person in the game to power up, and dishes out 100 additional points to each person in the activation zone
As a reward when you power up all six generators you will receive a max ammo from the box. In order to claim it, return to either the spawn challenge box or the challenge box behind church, move your crosshairs over the rune and then hold for the weapon.

Spend 30,000 Points-
This may be the "easiest" challenge, but it will probably be one of the last you unlock. The main thing to remember for the 30,000 points is that it will take some time, so do not go out on a limb spending points on weapons, perks, or even opening areas, without being able to defend yourself there. Everything does add up, so take your time and build your character carefully, and when in doubt, open the area to pack-a-punch and spend to your heart's content.

As a reward when you spend 30,000 points you will get a perk bottle (always Double-Tap). In order to claim it, return to either the spawn challenge box or the challenge box behind church, move your crosshairs over the rune and then hold for the weapon.

Fill 4 chests to capacity-
You should begin this one immediately upon gaining access to the large center area of the map. In order to actually fill a chest you need to kill zombies around the chests that are in the mud. When you begin to fill it with souls it will open up and a blue glow will emanate from it, and will fly into the air and then go into the ground upon completion. The four chests are located in the following areas:

  1. Upon leaving the workshop heading toward to large area to your left below excavation is the first box.
  2. Next to generator four, on the other side of juggernog.
  3. On your way to church the first mud area you pass contains a chest.
  4. Next to generator five which is on the opposite side of the map to generator four (Juggernog perk machine).

The two best tips I can give are to:
1. Watch for the robots and make sure to attack a specific chest only after you know the robot has passed and
2. The mud of the areas where the chests are at will bog you down. Counteract this by jumping often and using the land in the middle to help you train your zombies if you get overwhelmed.
