How to unlock the Orange Belt achievement in Cobra Kai: The Karate Kid Saga Continues - Definitive Guide
I want to preface this by saying I HIGHLY recommend making a checklist of all challenges on all belts that you can refer back to outside the dojo. If you're going for a full completion, you'll end up replaying most levels to get S rank for a collectible anyway, but keeping a reference handy will cut down on additional run throughs.
Karate Challenges are specific goals that, as you complete them, will give you coins towards upgrading your characters. At the end of each level, you'll be taken back to your dojo where you can check on your progress and claim any finished challenges.
If you play through both campaigns on a single save, any progress from the first campaign will transfer over to the second campaign. The list of challenges for this belt are as follows:
Brave - Reach Combo Meter B 10 times
Admirable - Reach Combo Meter A 5 times
Prodigy - Reach Combo Meter NM once
(Combo Meter ranking differs from the actual hit counter. The game employs a hidden point system, similar to a Tony Hawk game, where cheesing a certain attack or move will reduce the rate at which the Combo Meter upgrades. I've seen 50-60 hit combos only go up to C and 20-30 hit combos in the B range. Mixing up your attacks (kick, punch, throw, Skill, etc.) will keep the Meter from stalling. Keep in mind that any hit landed by an enemy will reset your Combo Meter, so abuse the dodge roll (left stick and ) as much as possible to maintain your Meter. You can also parry "red" attacks from enemies as the throw damage counts as both combo hits and damage variety. Meter levels stack, meaning any NM level Meter you get also counts as both an A and a B, so there's no reason to cut a good Meter run short simply to get an A or B.
If you're having real trouble with this, I recommend waiting until all the Personal and Dojo skills are unlocked for your characters. Personal and Dojo skills can be fired off one after the other, and since they swap between punches and kicks, there's less chance of the Meter stagnating. You also have a few seconds of invulnerability while performing a Skill, depending on how long the attack animation is. This way, you can experiment with each character and see which one works best for you. I stuck with Tory on my Cobra Kai playthrough and breezed through these Meter based Challenges.
Finally, Brave and Admirable were two of the challenges on my playthrough that would not properly record progress over time. I had to finish the Challenge in a single level or the counter would reset. However, spamming a combination of Dojo and Personal skills while avoiding being hit should easily get you there.)
Way of the Fist - Get 50 Hits in a single combo
(The Combo Meter hit counter is pretty forgiving when it comes to lulls in combat. As long as you get in a hit every few seconds, the hit counter will continue rising. Just be sure to dodge roll (left stick and ) to get out of tight situations and avoid getting hit yourself. You should easily get this while working on Combo Meter requirements and especially while working on the No Mercy achievement:)
Elemental - Hit 30 Special Attacks
(Any Dojo or Personal Skill is a Special Attack, but I'm pretty sure your Ultimate counts as well. You shouldn't have any problems getting this through normal play)
Can't Touch Me 2 - Finish 30 Enemies without taking a hit
(What this description leaves out is that it has to be 30 enemies in a row, not 30 total, which makes this much more challenging compared to the rest of this belt's list. Even with attempting this on an earlier stage, liberal use of both Dojo/Personal Skills and dodge rolls (left stick and ) are your best bet to knock this out. Once you have the timing down, you can also use parry throws, but I recommend staying mobile and keeping your distance as much as possible. You will likely need a few attempts to pass this challenge, but it is doable. I recommend using the Addison St level as most of the enemies are slower moving and less aggressive than later stages. It also has tons of weapons you can pick up as well as throwable and kickable objects that do much more damage in a single hit than any of your punches, kicks, or Skills with the exception of your Ultimate attack.
You should get this if you also unlock the Fear Does Not Exist In This Dojo achievement as there are more than 30 enemies on every level:)
As a side note, I've found some of the challenge counters will either reset to 0 at the end of the level or only show your x/y score from the previous level, then reset when you go into the next one. On my playthroughs this seemed to happen to random challenges on different belts. If you find one the challenges is not progressing, try to fulfill all the requirements for it on a single level. I recommend the longer story progression level (larger icons on the map) as it will give you plenty of cannon fodder to work with.
