Does this achievement require beating bosses with a certain rank? I beat all listed bosses on Inkwell Isle II on regular and haven’t had the achievement unlock. 😥

If you've been playing Cuphead, you'll notice that the game can be painfully difficult, brutal even. Well this guide is going to help walk you through the mechanics of each boss fight with a video of the fight itself and a text tutorial for you if you would prefer that.
Notes - You can get A-/A/A+ rankings, it doesn't matter but for the purpose of videos, I've made it A+. - You can ONLY get the Boss Soul by completing the fight on Regular difficulty. - It is HIGHLY advisable that you purchase the Smoke Bomb power up. - You can usually make one or two mistakes in each score count such as losing a health bar and missing a parry etc. - The requirements are the same for every boss encounter. This includes the following: Time - Beat it in less then 2 minutes and it'll help drastically. Parry - Beat it while having parried 3 pink objects. HP - Beat it while having 3 HP remaining. Super - Beat it while having used 6 super bars. Skill - Still unsure what triggers this, however if you nail the above there will be 2 stars.
Now that we've established all that, click the spoiler tab for a written text guide and a video guide.
Baroness Von Bon Bon in Sugerland Shimmy
This fight is broken up into two stages, the first being a series of 4 possible mini bosses with the second being Madame Bon Bon herself. The three of the four possible stages are as follows:
- Gumball - She will spawn a gumball that will basically track your every move. You can simply jump over it then dash under and repeat this step but you must watch out for the second gumball that follows.
- Gumball Machine - She can spawn a gumball machine which will run towards you and run back and forth shooting out gumballs from the top of it. The best way to avoid this is the be on the far left side and just focus the balls as they drop.
- Cupcake - The next thing she could spawn in is a cupcake that will jump into the air and bounce diagonally. When it lands on the ground make sure that you watch out for the waves that it makes.
- Chocolate Bar - The final possible thing that she could spawn is the chocolate bar which will fly around the area and break into multiple parts at a wide range and then pull itself back together.
During this fight you will also have Pink and Green jellybeans spawn after the second boss has been defeated. If you have trouble you can always waste a little time to get the Pink ones that you need to parry.
The second phase will be the most chaotic so I would recommend the Chaser weapon from the shop as you won’t have to aim and can focus on everything else. Von will throw her head at you which you must avoid and can easily be done if you lure it to a certain area then move, but you must also avoid the giant Pink candy that she will roll at you which can be parried but doesn’t count to the final score.
Djimmi The Great in Pyramid Peril
Djimmi can be quite an annoyance but if you get the right pattern it can be a much easier experience. Basically, this stage is divided up into 5 sections, the first being 3 possible events, the second needing you to avoid some pillars, the third you must avoid a sarcophagus, the fourth you need to beat a puppet while avoiding a hat and the final is the boss himself so let’s start. The first sections 3 possible events are as follows:
- Treasure Chest - The first possible event is the boss spawning and opening a treasure chest that will shoot out gems and other items at you that you must avoid. There are Pink items you can parry in this section.
- Cat Statue - The second possible event is the boss spawning cat statues that will break open and spawn mini enemies that will track you. You can parry the Pink ones for this section.
- Swords - The final possible event is the boss spawning swords. When all 4 swords are lined up they will shoot off one by one and follow whatever direction you were when it left the line. You can parry the Pink ones for this section.
Now that you have completed the first phase you will be introduced to the second quickly and reaction time is key here. You will be faced will pillars that you must navigate through while avoiding the saw blade in the middle of them. To get through this section easy, always shoot the faces to move to the next part and hang back in the destroyed faces spot until the saw blade goes past you if required.
The third phase is the easiest of them all. You simply need to get to the top of the screen and select the bomb option and reign down on the sarcophagus. It will spawn a ghost every now and then up in this section but you will easily kill it if you’re just holding the trigger. If required, go small to avoid the move that the boss does where he will send his eyes up and down across the arena.
The forth phase is the last place you can get your parries so be warned. You will be faced with a puppet that will shoot out fire shots like the frog bosses earlier in world one and will usually shoot 3 blue then a Pink then 3 more blue and a Pink again before having a short break. You must also avoid the hat which will send out bombs in a 360 angle.
Now that you’ve reached the final phase you must be careful to avoid the pyramids! There are two different moves here, the first being the beam that Djimmi will send your way every now and then and the second being the pyramid attack. When you notice one of the pyramids eyes open it will send out a beam going both horizontal and diagonal which you must avoid while it continues to move in a circle.
Beppi The Clown in Carneval Kerfuffle
Beppi is one of the more easier bosses of the game and only has three phases four phases. I recommended having the Spread Shot for this section as the boss fight will go much faster.
The first phase starts off with Beppi in his bumper car which he will use to try ram you. This can be avoided by dodging through or over him depending on your dash (I recommend smoke bomb) by shooting the yellow ducks and parrying the Pink ones.
The second phase will start with Beppi shooting out balloon dogs that will track you while a roller coaster comes flying towards you. Now the Pink dog heads can be parried and every time that you see the RC you can parry the Pink nose on the tip of it. Just make sure to always fire behind you when a balloon shows up and you’ll be fine.
The third phase will continue to have the RC coming but you must avoid the horse that Beppi rides in on. There are two different events here;
- Yellow Horse - If you get the yellow horse and he is on the left-hand side while on the RC, simply stay under him and smoke bomb dash through the passengers and if he is on the right side you will just want to stand in the section of the floating horse shoes where it won’t drop and land on you. If there is no RC cart you can simply just stand under him and fire away safely.
- Green Horse - If you get the green horse stick to the left-hand side and smoke dash like above if you’re on the RC but if you don’t get the left-hand side, you’ll want to avoid the horse shoes which will travel up and down but can easily be avoided by smoke dashing. This will be your last section where you can get your 3 parries with the Pink horseshoes. If there is no RC cart just stand under him like the above says.
The final phase has Beppi turn into a carrousel. Your job should be to stay on the moving platforms but stay as close to his face as possible. I recommend having the first super art ‘Energy Beam’ so once he sends out his minions you can jump down and kill most of them while doing major damage to Beppi.
Wally Warbles in Aviary Action!
Wally Warbles is one of the easiest bosses in this game if you are good at using your planes small size to get through tight spots. The first phase of this three-phase fight will start with wally shooting eggs at you which can easily be avoided by staying right up against the left side of the screen and just moving up and down when needed. You will also be attacked by four birds every now and then with there being three yellow ones and one Pink one. After doing enough damage, wally will start flapping his wings and throwing his arrows at you and this is where you will need to out your skills to use to dodge them all.
After defeating wally, you’ll get to fight a mini bird that will shield itself in eggs then attack with its laser which will fire a Pink dart. Make sure that when his egg shield expands that you use you turn into the small plane to get through and position yourself right to avoid being hit by a shell.
The third phase will start after the little birds defeat with two little birds carrying wally on a stretcher. You should switch to missiles now and just reign down on him while avoiding pills that the little birds will throw at you which split into two or the junk that wally throws up. You can parry the Pink pills and Pink socks in this section.
Grim Matchstick in Fiery Frolic
Grim Matchstick is a very simple boss which just requires some patience for the second phase. The first of three phases will start off with you needing to jump from cloud to cloud while avoiding and trying to parry the Pink beams that Grim will shoot from his eyes. You must also avoid the tail which will pop up somewhere near your position so the further back you are in this level the easier it will be and you must also avoid the fireballs that Grim shoots at you, so I would recommend having the smoke bomb dodge on to make this much easier.
The second phase is the most annoying. You will want to jump from cloud to cloud and wait a second each time to see if you can get any of the fire enemies below to jump up at you before you avoid them. This can be much trickier than first looks as sometimes they will jump randomly to somewhere that you were just about to jump to and screw up a perfect run if you want A+.
The final phase you will be fighting 3 heads of the dragon, yay... This is also quite the pain as Grim will shoot out little orbs that if destroyed, will send fireballs in both horizontal and diagonal directions causing you to lose many flawless runs if you’re not careful. After the ball section finishes he will fire a flamethrower right through the centre of the map which must be avoided by either being on the highest cloud or lowest cloud possible and then the ball section will repeat afterwards.

Nice! Looks like skill is the difficulty you do it on, 1 star of Simple, 2 stars for Regular.
