How to unlock the Brightstone Bonfire achievement in DARK SOULS II: Scholar of the First Sin - Definitive Guide

This is essentially a storyline achievement. Your "objective" for the first portion of the game is to light four primal bonfires which are being guarded by four bosses.
In the interests of not spoiling anything or revealing any of the game's deadly secrets I won't include any information about the bosses or the areas you have to travel through to reach them. If you want to look up any information on your own, the name of this boss is

For this one you need to travel from Majula through the Shaded Woods and Doors of Pharros to reach Brightstone Cove Tseldora. Work your way through Brightstone Cove Tseldora to find a boss and once it's defeated look for a tunnel on the back right wall of the boss area from where you came in. Follow this tunnel down and through a couple of rooms to find the primal bonfire.

This achievement didn’t unlock for me. Anything I can do to unlock it or do I have to play through the game again?

Sorry, I'm not aware of any way to fix this. Beyond trying all the usual tricks to force "stuck" achievements to pop, I'm guessing you'll need to light the bonfire again. Plus side is that if you're planning to 100% the game then you should need to play beyond this point on NG+ and NG++ so hopefully it will pop on one of those rather than you having to totally start a new save file.

This is a progress related, unmissable achievement. After defeating the Duke's Dear Freja boss in Brightstone Cove Tseldora you will be able to light the primal bonfire and return to Majula.

Story progression – can’t be missed. You need to kill the Duke’s Dear Freja, a giant two headed spider at the end of Brightstone Cove. You can summon an excellent ally (his sign is behind the pillar opposite the fog gate by the far wall) to aid you and be aware that a number of smaller spiders are present to begin with, so try and clear them out ASAP. Once they are dead stick really close to Freja’s sides. She can’t hurt you there as her leg stomps don’t get close enough and her other attacks come from each head. You can only damage each of her heads, so wait until she attacks and then get a couple of strikes in before moving to her safe area. She will do a big lunge, a two hit mandible combo or a large spit attack all of which can be easily dodged or blocked. If you need to heal try and bait her lunge attack and then run around to her side to quickly get health back while she recovers. Once she dies make sure to interact with the glowing red soul and then follow the passage to kill the weak Duke, then another passage to the Primal bonfire.

Story related cannot be missed

For this trophy, you must work your way to Brightstone Cove Tseldora and defeat The Duke's Dear Freja, then light the bonfire beyond her. You must pass through the following areas to reach her:

Shaded Woods - Unpetrify Rosabeth using a Fragrant Branch of Yore and defeat Scorpioness Najka.

Doors of Pharros - This is a small level. Proceed and defeat Royal Rat Authority to gain access to Brightstone Cove Tseldora.

Brighstone Cove Tseldora - This is a fairly straight forward area. You work your way through the cliffside area. You can summon Benhart here for the Prowling Magus & Congregation fight, which is a joke. Work your way down the zip lines to the boss area.

Duke's Dear Freja is a giant spider who occasionally summons smaller spiders to attack you. Bear in mind you can summon 3 NPC's on the way, making this fight a complete joke. Use ranged attacks on her two heads. Be weary of her laser beam attack and leg stomps; let your NPC's take the agro.

First you need to get to Mirkwood. To do this, you will need one “Fragrant branch of the past” ( https://ru.darksouls.wikia.com/wiki/..._bygone ). We disenchant Rosabeth and go to Mirkwood. Next will be the Doors of Farros. And after them - Brightstone Bay-Tsedolora. At the end is the boss. You can also summon three phantoms, so the fight isn't particularly difficult.

Freya, although not a difficult boss, is still interesting. For most weapons, only her heads are vulnerable, of which there are two on different sides, and everything else is armored and can only be penetrated by weapons that can ignore armor. It is best to attack heads with a piercing weapon, because along the edges of the heads there are shields that can stop a wide swing. When attacking the head, Freya will bite back, this attack can be taken on the shield. If you move to a medium distance, Freya will attack with her paws and only rolls will help here. Freya can attack with a magic beam if you move too far away from her and this is the best moment to get to her second head and perform a series of attacks. There will also be small packs in the arena, but there is no point in being distracted by them, they will be reborn. If necessary, you can scare them away with a torch.
The idea of running quickly from the fire to the boss is very risky. In the cathedral with packs, near the stairs there is an enemy who will prevent you from climbing it, and a crowd of ignored enemies will cause a lot of problems.
After defeating Freya, you should not immediately run away from the arena, since she has an ordinary soul, and the Great one lies on the edge of the arena. If you overlook it, you will have to return later, because without it they will not be allowed to the castle.
