How to unlock the Champion Gundyr achievement in DARK SOULS III - Definitive Guide

Champion Gundyr can be found in the Untended Graves, which acts as a dark version of the Cemetery of Ash. He is found in the same exact spot you fought Iudex Gundyr, and is actually the same entity, only from the past.

To access the Untended Graves, you must defeat Oceiros in the Consumed King's Garden, which is a small, optional area accessed at the beginning of Lothric Castle after the Dancer of the Boreal Valley bonfire. After vanquishing Oceiros, you'll reach a dead end where you can find the Path of the Dragon gesture. Attack the wall opposite from where you entered to reveal an illusory law, and follow the path to the Untended Graves. You'll start out where you started the game in the Cemetery of Ash, only everything looks different. Proceed forward to where you fought Iudex Gundyr to find Champion Gundyr.

As far as the boss fight goes, it starts off exactly like the Iudex Gundyr fight, with the sames moveset and everything. The only difference is that the Champion version deals more damage. At about 50% healthy, Gundyr will perform a warcry and start to attack much more aggressively. This is where the real fight begins. Keep your distance from him and move in after he finishes a combo to get in a hit. He does not leave much of a window for you attack. Be mindful of his kick, which he will often counterattack with. It's hard to dodge, but it only inflicts a fair amount of damage. Gundyr does not have a lot of health or defense for a late game boss, so be judicious with your hits (one at a time) and this fight should be over in under three minutes. Rolling is a necessity to dodge the worst of his attacks.

What the hell is this cheap boss?? This was the hardest boss for me across the WHOLE series, using a slow tank build in each. Luck based if swordmaster summon dies early or not at all. Difficulty is an 8/10 for me, yet 60k gamers did this? Achievements are f***ing pointless!!! Cannot believe the 1.x ratios these games have.

I just did this fight with a bit of difficulty but it isn't unlocking for me either. Has anyone had it just pop randomly at some point or what?

OPTIONAL BOSS. Found in Untended Graves.

After beating the boss of the Consumed Garden go into the room behind him and smack the wall behind the far chest to reveal the path to this location. You can summon the Sword Master nearby if you killed him at Firelink Shrine (he is the katana enemy to the left of the main entrance there) but he is fairly useless. He's a much more powerful version of the first boss and he uses a lot of rapid spear attacks, smashes, kicks and charge moves. If you can bring in help then that would be ideal as he is extremely relentless and a distraction can help you heal or get some strikes in. As it is, try and bait his long combos and strike when you dodge the last move, or when he misses his lengthy charge attack. At the halfway stage he gets a bit more peeved off and moves slightly faster, but no new attacks are added so stay cautious and stick to picking attacks only when you know you won’t get hit in return.

Boss location - Abandoned Graves

Simple boss. Near the entrance you can summon an NPC. The tactics are simple, dodge and come in from behind for a couple of blows. Repeat until victorious.

Drops - the soul.

In fact, the boss is quite problematic. Unlike the Judge, the Champion moves quite quickly in the second phase and rarely allows healing. The boss can be parried. You can also take a good shield and spin Gundir counterclockwise, doing no more than two hits.

This is the boss of the secret location. The differences from the simple version are increased damage and the fact that it will be dark around. In the same location are the eyes of the level raiser.

The boss is quite mobile and deals high damage. A very useful ally in battle with him will be the phantom Master of Swords (the summoning sign is located not far from the entrance to the arena to the boss on the right hand). You can summon a phantom if you killed the Master of Swords near the Fire Temple.

The boss can be easily killed with ripostes after parries.
To do this, in the 1st stage, try to break the distance with him as quickly as possible and wait for him to jump with an attack. This attack has a fairly convenient strike amplitude and application time, which allows you to learn how to parry it after a small number of failures.
In the 2nd stage, do everything the same, but he will no longer jump with an attack. Instead, he has a half-jump with an attack that has a similar, but shorter amplitude. In addition to this attack, you can quickly learn to parry a horizontal attack, which the boss prepares by turning his body to the left (away from him) side.
