How to unlock the Tournament to Kill achievement in Deadliest Warrior - Definitive Guide
This one can be difficult for two reasons.
Reason #1 - Almost all people playing this game online are grade A jerks. Let me explain. When you play Tournament mode, you start of in First Round. If you win, your next game under Tournament mode will be Semi-Finals, and you will only be matched with people who also have just won a First Round game. Win the Semi-Finals, and your next game will be Finals with someone else who has also won a Semi-Finals round. Win 10 Finals to unlock this achievement. If you loose any game you will start off on a First Round match again. Sounds difficult right? Well it gets harder. This is because the dumb creators of this otherwise fun game mislooked one small but important concept of online gameplay. Fareness. It just so happens that when you leave a game before it ends, even if your losing, it does not count as a loss for you, nor does it count as a win for the other player. See the problem here? Most people just decide to leave before they lose, so they can keep their place in the tournament without having to restart to First Round. But when they do this, it does not count as a win for you, and you don't proceed. All i can say to help you is to please don't behave like this. Be greater than everyone else... be a man. There's truth to this saying: what comes around, goes around.
Reason #2 - 70%-90% of the time, people will use the Ninja. In my opinion he's way too overpowered. It thus becomes important to find a decent technique to fighting these Ninja lovers. I can usually win with the Centurion, but hey, that's just me. Another important phrase to remember here: fight fire with fire. Also works well for me.
Good luck with this one.

It does not matter how many rounds you set your match up for. If you decide to create a game, it's up to you to choose how many rounds you'd like to play. For example, you create a game and set the rounds to 3. This only means you have to win two of the three rounds, or two of three kills, to win the actual match with the person your playing with. If you win, you'll then be returned to the main menu and must find or create a new game to advance to Semi-Finals, and then Finals. Just keep an eye on the game info to the left when joining a game. It will tell you what the host has set for the rounds and for the game time. You don't want to go rushing in thinking there are 3 rounds when there's actually only 1, as some like to play.

does it matter how many rounds you set it for

Credit for this solution does to Large Coffee.
A team of 5 boosters will work the best.
First rank somebody to the top 3rd round and the 2nd round there only job is to host matches and letting the other boosters win.
Using the dashboard trick after a loss will keep them at the same level in the round. (After a loss instead of pushing "A" to continue you exit to the dashboard and when you reload the game you stay at the same level)
So 1 person host matches in each of the 3 rounds, the 2nd and 3rd level hosts use the trick ( first round using the dashboard trick is pointless)
The other 2 go up the ladder getting wins and then rotate with the hosts after they receive the acheivment.
Only 4 people will cause a lot of waiting in the lobby's for the hosts and more than 2 going for the acheivment will cause a lot of waiting for reloading

How long does this take? I'm very interested in setting up a session sometime this week and want to make sure I provide enough time for everyone to unlock the achievement.

It took 5 of us about 2.5 hours to get it with one of us having a slow connection

You need to win three tournament fights in a row to count as winning a tournament. This may take a while, as you can become a victim of circumstance and take the occasional spear to the face.
Although I don't like to encourage it, you can leave games before it ends to prevent a loss. If you do this, when the match ends go to the dashboard, your opponent will keep their deserved win, and you will keep your place in the tournament, everyone wins! (Thanks to iNf3Rn0 Lan for this tip).
