All those cars are quite similar except one. Lancia Stratos. I know its power-to-weight ratio looks tempting but don't take it. It is extremely hard to control car and you would have problems with finishing stages, especially in Greece and Sweden. I personally took Opel Kadett but Fiat is also good choice because it's easier to control. In my opinion, RWDs are the hardest to control. They don't drive in straight line, they dance from side to side. This, combined with small number of available RWDs in all classes, means that you won't probably love this class.
Speaking about championship itself, you want to aim at win in Germany. Your super AI would mess one race, which will give you the second event win. You want to win one more event and be second in every other. If you have one more event left and you see that your super AI made clear race and you lost your first stage of your last event, don't continue. Times, which AI makes, are randomized while changing events (or locations). This may be used to your advantage. You lost with AI in first event by 5 seconds? Memorize his time, go to dashboard (don't continue) and restart the game. Enter your championship and retire. If his time is beatable, restart and beat it. You can even try this several times and eventually he would have technical problems and lose a lot to first place, you will have safe win and few points advantage from that event.
Instead of trying to win everything, try to master few tracks which are comfortable with you and you feel good driving them. You should aim at both asphalt locations (Germany and Monte Carlo) which are the easiest. Finland is very fast but deceptive. Those fast turns are hard to control in RWD at fast speed and all those jumps will kill your suspension. Sweden is a narrow, winter route. Wales and Greece are two similar in terms of conditions locations, both are at gravel, both have a lot of trees at sides and it is very easy at both of them to fall out of the track. I'd suggest trying to master Greece but take anything which is suitable for you. In the remaining three you should finish safely at second place. Smash restart button and continue only when you got good times.
The case with all the ‘Win a Championship with an [insert vehicle here]’ trophies is largely the same. Vehicle choice is entirely up to you. Most vehicles within the same class are fairly evenly matched so you can purchase whichever vehicle has the best stats, is the cheapest or just looks the coolest, safe in the knowledge that it is capable of winning championships. Once you have completed all the events in a championship, the trophy should unlock.
In order to make winning a championship as quick and easy as possible, you should complete a career championship at the ‘Open’ level. This should make the A.I. times more manageable to beat, and it means you only have to complete 24 stages to complete a championship. If you are at a level higher than 'Open', you can relegate yourself back through the championship levels by retiring from each event.
Keep in mind that if an event seems impossible to win because the lead A.I. are setting ridiculously fast times, you don’t need to win every event to win the championship. Sometimes a 2nd or 3rd place finish will do if the other drivers make mistakes elsewhere in the championship. Conversely, if you are doing really well and manage to accumulate a lead of more than 25 points over second place in the championship standings, you can even afford to retire from an entire stage, further speeding up your progress.
You can also exploit the game's RNG to an extent when an event moves to a new location (new location as in moving from Germany to Monte Carlo, not in between stages at the same location). This is because the A.I. opponents finishing times are randomised each time you move location.
If you complete the first event at a new location and are unhappy with how fast the lead A.I. finishing time was, take note of the leading time and quit the game. Restart the game and return to the event. If you retire, you can then quickly view the new finishing times for each of the A.I. drivers. If the new times look like you can beat them, simply restart the stage. If they're still too quick, just keep repeating the process of quitting the game until the A.I. finishing time is one you can beat. The general time variance for the finishing times is 20-30 seconds (the lead A.I. can even retire in some circumstances), so don't expect to be given an A.I. finishing time that is ridiculously easy.
