The global championship consists of 6x5 races, or 6x7 races, depending on your choice. If you just want the achievement, just do the 6x5.
The 6 stands for the different countries where you race.
The 5 stands for 4 rally races and 1 crossover.
The 7 stands for 5 rally races and 2 crossovers.
Choose a class like classic cars , fwd, rwd or 4wd, and choose the best in the class. Good for this is either the Lancia S4 or Colin Mcrae R4.
Of course, you're able to change difficulty, so just choose rookie if you want a simpler achievement.

I was able to retire at the beginning of the sixth set of races and still get the achievement. I had been winning 50 - 36 and ended up winning 50 - 46.
So instead of 30 events you should only need to do 25.

Seriously? That's new to me. Good addition to my solution, I can't try it anymore myself, but good job.

Thanks to LausDomini for the tip, and here's my addition : After the 25 races I was at 50 points with Travis Pastrana at 40 points - I retired even though I figured Travis would get the 10 extra points from the final round and make it a tied win... and it did in fact finish 50-50, with me and Travis equal 1st place - fortunately the achievement still popped.
One more thing, if you're playing on the easiest difficulty then you don't need a fast car because even a slower car will win easily, so I recommend choosing a car that's easier to handle. For example the R4 is fast but is not so easy to control, I used the Evo IX which is much easier to handle around corners and still won every race with plenty of time to spare.

I can also confirm that retiring before the end of the last set of races still gets you the achievement if you are more than 10 points ahead of the opposition. I was leading by 14 when I retired and so won the championship with 50 points while my nearest rival finished on 46.

i also confirm this ended up 50 to 44.

I can confirm too this works perfect !! I lead by 50-38 and Retired and directly achievement unlocked as I ended winning 50-48. Saved me another 5 races Thanks LausDomini
R4 is my favorite BTW

Just in case there is any remaining doubt... yes this does work! At the end of the Australian Rally you should have 50 points if you have won every race. Simply select the option to retire and pop goes the cheevo!

You should probably add Laus' comment to the main body of the solution.

+1 for the retire method :)

do you have to retire before starting the last set of races (after you finish the last crossover race before the last set, where you have the option to tune the car, repair etc) I choose Exit - Retire or i have to start at least the first race from the last set, pause the game and Exit - Retire??
Because i started doing the Int. champ. and i retired before even starting the last set and no achievement popped. (i won all the races before). Now i have to restart all over again + the last champ. :(

The International Championship only has three countries, so you cannot be 10 or more points ahead by the end of the second country. By retiring you forfeit any points for the last country and get caught by at least one CPU opponent, thus not winning the championship.

Thank you for finding out this retire method I was winning 50-36 after the Australian rally and ended up winning 50-46 against Travis Pastrana and the achievement popped as soon as I hit retire!
