How to unlock the Time Management achievement in Dishonored - Definitive Guide

Hey guys, here is a video I made that shows how I achieved all 6 rounds and ALL 12 bonus rounds including the pesky Pincushion. I talk about some of the pitfalls to look out for and why the Speaker challenge Bonus on Round 2 can be faulty. If you guys don't like the video for any reason, tell me so I can fix it in the future. I'm only part human.

Thanks man. I used the other solution to get to round 6, but then I used your video to beat round 6. I didn't want to take any chances so I decided to use this video to finish the achievement. You saved my ass. Definite up vote.

Great video guide, I found it much needed after failing dozens of times ;) Although I never managed to succeed in the final bonus round with oil tanks.

Those tanks are a pain to get right, especially considering that you have to go through the entire level to get to it again.

Fantastic video ForeverMidnight! Thanks for doing it. Would there be any reason why I have done this twice and yet the achievement has not unlocked? 100% sure I don't fail any of the rounds.

Man, ended up failing on a few waves where people just wouldn't die and I'd be 1 kill shy. On to back alley and assassins run.

Great Solution. I have had these sitting on my gamer card forever. One less Achievement bogging down my completion percentage. Took some practice and patience but, I was able to get Time Management done with your help.

Really nice guide. The difference between the last two bonus rounds is insane. One is free; you just run around and stab, while the other has you trying to play against clunky whale oil hitboxes while blinking past NPCs who like to get in your way.

Wow. This is my third profile going for the Dishonored 100%, and the first time I ever got this on my first try. Hell, the first two profiles took me like 3-5 hours each.

Thank you for this solution! I thought it would be super complicated but I managed to do it on my first try following your video and pausing after each round.

The Time Management Achievement can be very frustrating and time consuming if you don’t have a plan. You must complete “Chain Kill” or “Bend Time Massacre” without failing a Round or a Bonus Round. Below I have detailed the strategy I used to accomplish it playing the “Bend Time Massacre” challenge.

All six rounds are the same every time, but the bonus to each round can be 1 of 2 possibilities. This achievement is definitely achievable with a good plan and a little luck. I have noted the difficulty for each round and bonus to help show that you can easily get lined up with a set of challenges that can be done with a bit of practice.

Consider the perspective of your character in my descriptions to be in relation to how you entered the level by breaking the glass. (So if I mention a certain side of the room, it will be considering that you are viewing the room from the glass before you break it)

---------------
Round 1 – (EASY) Kill (3) guards. Break the glass and rush into the room. You have enough time to run up to the guards you need to kill and just stab them.
-Bonus #1A – (EASY) You must only use objects for (3) guard kills. Grab the brick off the table, run around to the right side and use it to break the glass near the guard with the oil canister next to him. Grab the whale oil and turn around and throw it between the two guards standing near where the brick was located. Finally, run past the blown up guards to the other hall where you can pick up a hammer off the table and throw it into the face of the enemy.
-Bonus #1B – (EASY) Kill the Elite and save the Art Dealer. Break the glass with the item and move up toward the people. Grab the bullet out of the air, pull out your gun, and shoot the guard in the face.

Round 2 – (EASY) Kill (5) Enemies in the red room. There will be three guards patrolling the outer perimeter, while the other people stay in place in the center. Equip your Spring Razor trap and position yourself directly behind the closest noble. When the patrols line up in a way where two of the guards are in the middle, slice noble’s back through the glass. Immediately run up to the guards that converged and drop the Spring Razor between them (It can be placed in a way to kill four enemies). Run to the left side of the room to stab the guard and use the rest of the time to stab any enemy that is furthest from the trap.
-Bonus # 2A – (EASY) Kill (3) nobles a not any guards. Watch for the same pattern as in Round 2, but wait till all the guards are away from the center. Break through the glass like before to kill the noble whose back is turned to you. Hurry and toss the Spring Razor Trap in between the other two noble’s feet. You must do this fast since you only have two seconds to throw the trap.
-Bonus # 2B (MEDIUM) Kill (6) enemies by dropping the street speaker on them. Like Round 2, wait until two of the guards are in the center and shoot the speaker through the glass to start the challenge. Immediately take possession of the guard to the left and bring him to the center. You will also need to take possession of the noble near the broken glass and move her up some. The difficulty in the challenge lies in the timing of getting the two patrolling guards in a position to be killed by the speaker. You must also be aware that if you exit your possession of an enemy while right up against another, you will cause one to push the other and most likely knock them out of the speaker’s range.

Round 3 – (EASY) Kill (7) enemies in the planning room. Shoot the guard off to the left with the pistol and then shoot the speaker. Grab the oil canister and jump up on the table. Drop the oil on the table toward the side that doesn’t have the speaker above it. Hit the oil canister with your sword so that it will blow up when time resumes. Immediately turn around to the right side of the room and jump off the table to kill the guard not standing at the table. Use the rest of the time to sweep around the table furthest from the broken glass and kill enemies.
-Bonus #3A – (MEDIUM) Kill (9) enemies and each must die after time resumes. Make sure you break the glass with your sword, then immediately shoot the enemy to the left and then the speaker. Like Round 3, grab the oil canister and jump up on the table. Drop the oil on the table toward the side that doesn’t have the speaker above it. Hit the oil canister with your sword so that it will blow up when time resumes. Finally, jump off the table and move all way to the back of the room and toward the right. If you face the table, you will have an enemy on either side of you that is not standing all the way up to the table. Make sure you are not right up next to either of those enemies and shoot a bullet at either. If you are far enough away and you do not then move into your own bullet, you can wait for time to expire and everyone should die.
-Bonus #3B – (EASY*) Shoot the art dealer with 4 arrows, all of which must pass through a different panel of glass. Start the challenge by shooting the art dealer through a nearby pane of glass. Go to the next nearby pane of glass, aim, shoot at the art dealer, and then move into your arrow that is frozen in mid-air. This will cause your arrow to fly forward and hit the art dealer immediately. Run around the outside catwalk to the other 2 glass panes and repeat the process of shooting at the art dealer and then running into your arrows.
* (Update. Check out the comments by DjentLives and TH3 XB0X G3N1U5, they both helped point out this useful strategy. If you don't run into your arrow, the first arrow that strikes the art dealer when time runs out will cause him to move around and make following arrows miss.)

Round 4 – (EASY) Kill (10) enemies in the planning room and hall. Treat this challenge like Round 3. Shoot the guard off to the left with the pistol (you can most likely line up a shot that kills multiple guards), and then shoot the speaker. Grab the oil canister and jump up on the table. Drop the oil on the table toward the side that doesn’t have the speaker above it. Hit the oil canister with your sword so that it will blow up when time resumes. Immediately jump off the table toward the back of the room and sweep toward the hallway section by stabbing or shooting any enemy not standing up to the table. If you have time, move up to the hall and kill a guard there.
-Bonus #4A – (EASY) Kill 10 enemies using whale oil canister explosions. You must move quickly since you only have six seconds. Disregard the oil canister right next to the window in the planning room unless you have extra time. Wait until the enemies have moved in range of the oil canisters and start by shooting through the glass and hit the hallway oil. Immediately run down the walkway to the planning room glass and shoot the oil on the table.
-Bonus #4B – (EASY) Kill the (3) Pendleton Brothers and hide their bodies. Immediately break the glass to the planning room and kill the nearest Pendleton to the left. Turn around and move back through the broken glass and throw the body off the ledge. Run to the next Pendleton in the planning room on the other side of the table and kill him. Take his body up the stairs toward the hallway and throw his body through the glass. Next, kill the Pendleton in the hall and throw his body off the ledge. Finally, the second Pendleton’s body most likely didn’t make it off the ledge when going through the glass, so pick it up and dispose of it.

Round 5 – (EASY) Kill (7) enemies, in the upper hall and lower room. Break the glass to the upper hall and throw a Sticky Grenade in the middle of the group. Immediately, turn and run down toward the room with the other enemies. Break the glass and just start stabbing or shooting any enemy in there.
-Bonus # 5A – (EASY) Kill the Overseer with the oil canister. Break the hallway glass with the item nearby. Immediately, turn and run back to the main room glass and break it with it’s nearby item. Grab the oil and start running to the Overseer in the hall. You don’t even have to throw the whale oil at him… stop next to him and wait until time expires.
-Bonus # 5B – (EASY) Kill (6) Overseers. You will want to hesitate a second until a third Overseer joins the group in the hallway. Like in Round 5, break the glass to the upper hall and throw a Sticky Grenade in the middle of the group. Immediately, turn and run down toward the room with the other enemies. Break the glass and quickly locate and stab the three overseers there. Time will be short, so make sure to skip the other enemies in the room.

Round 6 – (MEDIUM) Kill (15) Enemies in the planning room, lower room, and upper hall. Approach this challenge like Round 4. Immediately, look toward the lower room to the left and shoot the speaker there and then throw a sticky grenade down to the group of enemies there. Next, jump off the table toward the back of the room and sweep toward the hallway section by stabbing or shooting any enemy not standing up to the table. If you have time, move up to the hall and kill a guard there.
-Bonus # 6A – (HARD) Save all enemies from the ignited whale oil canisters. Start at the top hallway area and break the glass. Grab the nearby canister and throw it off the ledge. Run down the stairs to the table in the planning room and pick up the oil. Run back up the stairs and as soon as you can glimpse the empty space past the cliff, throw the canister out there. Immediately turn around and hurry toward the lower room and break the glass there with your sword. Grab the oil and chuck it out the window as fast as possible since time will be running out.
-Bonus # 6B – (EASY) Kill (10) enemies while using only your sword and blink. Approach the planning room glass and count the enemies inside and around the table. Make sure there are ten before you break the glass or wait until the full ten assemble down there. Quickly run around the table and stab all ten enemies. Use blink to save some time when the enemies aren’t next to each other. You must do this quickly… you cannot leave an enemy behind and get back to them. All must die in one lap around the table.
----------------------

You should get familiar and comfortable with the challenges before attempting the achievement, so play through a few times without the stress of needing perfection …
*Update. I removed the videos of some friendly YouTubers running through the challenges to show a visual example. The video solution posted by ForeverMidnight is better. Please see his solution if you would like to follow a video.

Found a way to do round 3B. When you shoot the first window the arrow will hit him straight away. After that move to another window shoot the arrow at the dealer and then run into the arrow, this pushes the arrow into him at normal speed. Just run to each window and repeat this to do this bonus round pretty easily!

I can confirm the above hint for Round 3B. The first arrow breaks the glass and hits him. The next 3 arrows can be shot and run into, to force them to hit the dealer. Worked every time I tried it.

Great solution, very thorough. I found 2B to definitely be the hardest, but fortunately it is so early in the run that it's no big deal failing it.

WTF Twice For 2B The speaker drops on all 6 and kills them but I still fail. This is literally the worst fucking DLC I have ever played!

Completing this DLC is beyond frustrating. If you are killing all six, the strategy must be sound, but perhaps you are running into a glitch...

By I Argonaut I on 19 Apr 2014 15:25
Yea it is a glitch. Only away around it is to break the glass by shooting the speaker. If you break the glass with your knife you fail no matter what. This DLC is fucking awful though in general and Achievements are all luck based. It really is much of an achievement if it is all based on luck.....

Oh my. I love how these people survive explosions TO THE FACE. Why Arkane included this DLC I'll never understand. The combat and movement is far too slow to warrant trials.

2B the game makes the npcs capable of dying if you sneeze to hard. When you come out of the possession sometimes they will fall down and die, no joke.
I can also confirm 3B and also you don't have to necessarily break all four glasses with four arrows, I hit him so hard with my second arrow he broke the third pane. Out of frustration I shot him through the fourth pane and hit him again through where the third pane was for shits-and-giggles and I got a success.

Thank you so much for this guide buddy, it's brilliant. Not only did it help me get the achievement, it actually gave me enough score to be placed second on the global leaderboard for Bend Time Massacre. I can't thumb this solution up enough.

Prior to starting this, note that there is a reported bug that may give you the achievement even after you have failed some of the waves. If you are close to finishing, you may want to just finish up instead of restarting, to save some time and hope you get lucky. Also note that you only need to meet the required kills for the round (noted at the top of the screen), and not necessarily kill everyone.

My full text guide for this achievement can be found HERE.
