How to unlock the Magic Sympathizer achievement in Dragon Age: Origins - Definitive Guide
When you enter the mage's circle tower and meet Wynne, side with her and get her to join your party. Then play through until you free First Enchanter Irving. He will give you the choice to proceed back down to the Templars or wait, choose wait and then save your game.
To get "Magic Sympathizer," when you talk to Greagor, the Templar leader, tell him you trust the Circle is back in order. Then talk to Irving and after your conversation this achievement will unlock. If you haven't gotten "Annulment Invoker" by this point, re-load the game from your save and follow the instructions I left for that achievement.
If you side with the Templars, then by default you'll unlock the following achievement.
For this one you have to make sure the mages stay alive during the battle with Uldred. During the fight, simply make sure to use the Litany of Adrella whenever the yellow circle appears at the bottom of a mage.
Then once you talk to Greagor, tell him the Circle is back in order. After he guarantees the Circle's support and you talk to Irving, you'll unlock this achievement.
Note: If you want to get "Traveler", you have to visit all locations on the Fade map.
To begin this quest, head to the Lake Calenhad Docks and take the ferry to Circle Tower. Once you get on the ferry, there's no turning back. You'll have to finish "Broken Circle". When you arrive at the tower, you'll find it in disarray and overrun by blood mages and demons. Fight your way to the top level of the Tower where you'll meet the Sloth Demon. On the first level of the Tower, you'll meet Wynne. You want her in your party. Here is where it gets interesting. You'll be sent into the Fade. There are a series of "stages" that you must complete. There are six with a demon that you must kill. Four of these also have dreaming Templars and Mages that will give you a Shapeshifting ability. After destroying these demons, you have to rescue the other three members of your party, then fight the Sloth Demon. Once you escape the Fade, then you have to face the blood mage that has overtaken the Tower. You'll meet an imprisoned Templar on the way up to the blood mage. He'll ask you to kill all of the Mages. Refuse him and elect to spare the mages.
During the fight, the blood mage will attempt to turn the other captured mages into sloth demons. If you don't use the Litany of Andraste to protect them, you could be unwittingly forced into Annulment Invoker if you're not careful. The Litany protects the mages and prevents the blood mage from corrupting them. Once the fight is done and you have rescued the Mages, return to the first floor of the Tower and say that the Mages are all safe. The Mages will then join your army as a result.

One Playthrough Method: At the imprisoned templar, make an additional save. On one, don't bother saving the mages. Reload and make sure all of the mages live. By choosing the Templars over the Mages, you'll lose Wynne. You want Wynne. Make sure she's with you.
During the final battle with the main blood mage and his demons, you need to use “Litany of Andraste” to protect the remaining mages from the actions of the blood mage and not prolong the battle, because otherwise you can get the “Annulment Invoker / Storm of the Mages” achievement instead this. When you defeat the main blood mage, return downstairs and report that the tower is again under the control of the magicians. In this situation, the magicians will join you in the final battle.
