How to unlock the It Was a Good Fight. I Have...No Regrets... achievement in DRAGON BALL XENOVERSE 2 - Definitive Guide
There are about 25 story Hero Colosseum story battles, and 30+ free battles.
Battles get harder and harder as you progress. By the time you get to the end, you are playing against opponents using five level 99 ultra rares.
I will provide my strategy, which you can copy if you have the figures. If you dont have the figures I list, I strongly recommend grinding expert mission 16 (16 TP medals per 3 minute completion) and buy from the Super Rare Vending Machine (20 TP medals per figure) until you get them.
By the time I was finished the achievement, my figures were as follows:
1. Rare - Gohan #86 (85 works too) Level 1 - very important, necessary because he raises your ultimate attack gauge by 20 percent just by placing him - dont level him up, keep him weak
2. Ultra Rare - Future Gohan #137 - Level 75 - very important, necessary because he gets stronger when your weaker figures die
3. Ultra Rare - Android 18 swimsuit #151 - Level 1 - very important, necessary because locks the opponents in place and makes them unable to move on the turn after she is placed, dont level her up, keep her weak
4. Ultra Rare - Android 18 #150 - Level 60 -
- can sub in similar character with very high SPD, DEF/HP/ATK is not important
- Normal Mr. Satan would probably be great here, but I only realized that after I earned the achievement without him
5. Super Rare - Vegeta #19 - Level 60 -
- can sub in similar character character with very high ATK, DEF/HP/SPD is not important
My Mastery level was a very low 37
I used two main strategies, mentally dividing my opponents into two camps:
1. Opponents who sometime place two figures in the same column, leaving ONE column open at the very beginning.
2. Opponents who never ever do that. These opponents only place one figure per column, so you never see an open column.
I would restart over and over about 10 times per opponent, to see whether they fell into camp #1 or #2 above.
If they fell into camp #1 - leave column open - my strategy was as follow - depending on which column they left open
Left column open:
UR Future Gohan in bottom left
Level 1 Gohan in top center
Swimsuit 18 in top right
Center column open:
Level 1 Gohan in top left
SR Vegeta in top center
Swimsuit 18 in top right
Right column open:
Swimsuit 18 in top left
Level 1 Gohan in top center
UR Future Gohan in top right
Keep placing your figures where you think the opponent will leave one open, and just restart if he didn't leave one open, or if you guessed wrong.
Aim to go second, especially if using UR Future Gohan. When Swimsuit 18 and level 1 Gohan are brutally murdered, UR Gohan gets +1000 attack each time if he's in his spot. SR Vegeta will not get that bonus, but putting him in top center gives him +1500 attack, so he'll be ok without it.
So opponent will go first, murder 18 and Gohan, and during your turn, you will attack the empty column, doing damage to the master.
Now - since you played Swimsuit 18, the opponents CANNOT switch places next turn.
So shove SR Vegeta with UR Gohan, or vice versa, both attacking the empty column that you KNOW the opponent cannot cover. For your third figure, put in your fast Mr. Satan or non-swimsuit Android 18.
First turn you had to go second to maximize damage, second turn you have to go FIRST because your master is now unprotected - and at later levels, your master can die in two hits (unless you grind Mastery level to increase your master hp... ugh.. no thanks.).
If you follow this strategy, you will guarantee 3 HARD attacks to the opponents master. Even at opponent mastery level 99, they cannot survive if you are using high ATK characters like UR Gohan or SR Vegeta.
Please see video below. This is the second-to-last battle in the game, against Golden Frieza. I show what equipment I have on each character at the end of the video.
If they fell into camp #2 - never leaving a column open - I played it like this:
Swimsuit 18 in top left - or any weak character, their only purpose is to die
UR Future Gohan in bottom left
Level 1 Gohan in top center
Make sure you go second. Opponent will murder Swimsuit 18 and Level 1 Gohan, and attack your master once. UR Future Gohan will go second, the only figure you have left on the field. He will have +2000 ATK since his friends were murdered, and should be able to take out the enemy figure in his column.
Since Level 1 Gohan gave you +20 to your ultimate gauge, and then was murdered, and Swimsuit 18 was also murdered, you should have your ULTIMATE attack ready to go by turn 2.
So for turn 2, put UR Future Gohan in top center, to do his ultimate attack
Put SR Vegeta (or other strong character) in bottom right
Put non-swimsuit 18 (or other fast character) in top left. Ensure you go FIRST this time.
With Gohan in top center, doing his Ultimate Attack with +2000 ATK from earlier, he should do heavy damage to all three enemy characters. If he doesn't kill them outright, SR Vegeta will finish the one on the right, and 18 will finish the one on the left. The middle one - if Gohan didn't kill him outright, will not be able to kill Gohan because of the +700 DEF gained from his friends dying in the first round.
For third turn, if opponent has more than one figure left, keep your set up the way it is - leaving none of your columns uncovered. You dont want the opponent to sneak in another hit to your master - if it is low level like mine was, it could easily die in two hits.
If opponent has one figure left, have two of yours in the middle column. The opponent will definitely be going for the middle center to activate their ultimate attack. As long as you continue going first, he wont be able to.
Please see video below. This is the last battle in the game, against SSGSS Goku. I show what equipment I have on each character at the end of the video.
Note: In Turn 1, my level 1 Gohan that was supposed to die... did not. This messed up my plan. However, I noticed two things:
1. Vegeta's attack did less than 50 percent of my master's hp. So he could attack once more and I wouldn't die.
2. If that figure can't even kill my level 1 Gohan, it certainly can't kill my UR Gohan.
So I had to alter my plan slightly by stalling one more turn. I put UR Gohan where level 1 Gohan was (knowing he'd get hit), and put level 1 Gohan where Swimsuit 18 was, so he could die properly. This was a stall move simply so that I could get my Ultimate Attack gauge up. After this turn, I went back to my usual plan.
Well, that's my strategy. It's long, but if it helps only one person, I'm glad. I did not want to grind all my figures to level 80 or 90 to get this achievement, and I bet you dont want to either.
Reminder, my final figure levels were: 75, 1, 1, 60, 60.
** Careful observers may notice my Swimsuit 18 is level 20 in the videos. This is because I leveled her after I wrote this guide, but before I made the videos. You'll notice that I never use her to attack, or use her speed in any way, so she might as well be level 1. Level 20 versus level 1 makes no difference for her since she's only supposed to freeze the enemy and die.
Dont forget to talk to Oshi after completing all the battles to unlock the achievement! He is located down the hill a ways near the Dragon Ball pedestal!

Seems like #118 Teen Gohan with a base Lvl 1 ATK of 6260 +10% for each ally killed would be a monstrous damage dealer in place of that Vegeta you recommend for slot 5.
#130 Super Perfect Cell with a base Lvl 1 SPD of 4910 + 500 SPD posing skill would be better overall than Hercule's 4500 + 200 to each figure on the field for that 4th slot.
And wouldn't #87 or #88 SS Adult Gohan be slightly better in place of #86 because he gives 30% Ult instead of 20%? Or does he tend to not die if you use him? (EDIT: I'm fairly early on in the battles and I'm having difficulty getting my weak figures to die when they should, the 10% difference here isn't enough to give you your ultimate when only one dies, which would likely be the time you need it most. Maybe you could supplement it with some UTG Up skills but I feel like it's not worth the trouble.)
Also, I'm aware I'm repeating some of this information, this comment is mostly so I have all my notes and the guide in one place.

i did this with this team and strategy. The only real issue i had was with free battle Chompa, though a few of the higher end matches had way too much RNG for my liking.
UR Pikkon: 568, lvl79 - STA Up LO, SPD Up 01, ATK Up 01.
UR Kale (Super Saiyan 2): 583, lvl 40 - ATK Up F, DEF Up T1, ATK Up SEC
UR Vegeta (Super Saiyan 4): 212, lvl 37, ATK Up KDE, ATK Up SEC, ATK Up T1
SR Gohan (Adult): 88, lvl 1, DEF Up T1, ATK Up R, DEF Down T1
UR Bardock: 516, lvl 50, no equips (i forgot i took his off for other people)
While my Pikkon used STA Up LO, some bosses outright refused to kill my people as i needed, so i would switch it out with STA Up 01 when needed. My goal was to have at least one enemy killed before i use the ultimate, but there were a few times i had to get lucky and killing blow the master between 2 enemies. With STA Up LO, i aimed to have less than 50% health and everyone dead but Pikkon. In that scenario, he would kill everything on the field and always go first. As long as one enemy is killed previous to the ultimate, Pikkon will kill the 3 others on the field, and the final will almost always take the center front for their ultimate, where Pikkon will completely destroy them. (I say almost always because a Hercule figure didnt one time and i almost died to only an N Hercule, which would have been embarrassing as F)
My strategy was the typical 01 using Gohan, but with Pikkon using his ultimate. I started with Kale in top right, Vegeta bottom right, Gohan top left. Kale (if she survived the attack) and Vegeta would typically kill whoever was in front. Gohan wouldn't usually die. then subsequent turn(s) is controlling where the enemy dealt damage and using Bardock as a meat shield. By turn 4 the battle was basically decided.
Beware certain Gokus and Janemba who take away your ultimate gauge after the turn.

Hey there folks! First off - IMMENSE PROPS to the other guy for his solution. Here's something of a supplement to the other guide while offering a potential solution thanks to a method that worked well from Beerus to SSGSS Goku. Posting this to help those in need and not dig through the lengthy comments of the other solution. Note that this solution has some bulk to it, as I’ll talk about various things that I had to go through for it and maybe make your trip a little easier.
Beerus (7 Star Difficulty)...let's just say the other method CAN work but it's too close for comfort. Sometimes I could use the setup he did beyond Beerus (such as against Golden Frieza and Broly) but it was very difficult to pull off his "Camp 2" method on him, Trunks or SSGSS Goku. No issues with it during the story or Free Battles prior to Beerus.
At this point I had to switch over to another setup, featured in the below video (immense credit to RevunGaming for this).
According to a comment on his video, he was using these numbered figures along with the equipped skills:
I used this method on Beerus, Trunks and SSGSS Goku. I would copy it regardless of whatever figure was placed for the other opponents, as long as one of them was dead by the end of turn one that means by turn 2 only 1 figure would be left on standby for the opponent. After the ultimate gauge was filled, Cabba could wipe all 3 of the opponents on the field out and generally deal with whoever was leftover (especially if the opponent places them on a spot facing your master). On a few of them I had figures still alive so I could just throw them back on the field for the last guy.
Do note that if you have surviving figures, to put them on standby when you plan to use Cabba. His skills come into play being the only figure on the field.

The Free Battles that are actually required
Since the updates, there has been A LOT of extra Free Battles added which do not count for the achievement. I went through and made a list of the ones you do need to do, so feel free to ignore the other battles:

This last section is for tips on how to better obtain the figure you're after as well as grinding out EXP and TP Medals.
Again massive props to the other solution as it was quite useful and the guideline I needed going into this achievement. By the end of it I had 3 teams, with the first being what I used until I scored the Swimsuit 18. Maybe these figures can help you, they certainly worked for me but couldn't quite cut it against certain opponents.
Goku - No. 5 (Leveled up to 40)
Following Skills Equipped: ADM Up SEC, ATK Up B, ATK UP SEC
Vegeta - No. 19 (Leveled up to 40)
Following Skills Equipped: ADM Up SEC, ATK Up B, ATK UP SEC
Two SR Gohans - No. 87/88 and can stay at level 1.
No skills equipped
Cabba - No. 165 (Leveled up to 20)
Following skills Equipped: (01 Skills) ATP Up 01, SPD Up 01 and STA Up 01.
I used the same Vegeta as he did, as used in the build recommended by the other TA user. However I also used the Future Gohan from that build in place of Goku, as he was able to tank the damage using the setup in that video. I also threw skills onto my No. 88 Gohans.Following Skills Equipped: ADM Up SEC, ATK Up B, ATK UP SEC
Vegeta - No. 19 (Leveled up to 40)
Following Skills Equipped: ADM Up SEC, ATK Up B, ATK UP SEC
Two SR Gohans - No. 87/88 and can stay at level 1.
No skills equipped
Cabba - No. 165 (Leveled up to 20)
Following skills Equipped: (01 Skills) ATP Up 01, SPD Up 01 and STA Up 01.
Gohan (Future) - No. 137 (Leveled up to 99, a few "Combined" figures into him to enhance power)
Following Skills Equipped: ADM Up SEC, ATK Up B, ATK UP SEC
Vegeta - No. 19 (Leveled up to 60 which is his unfortunate max, also combined figures into him for more power)
Following skills Equipped: ADM Up SEC, ATK Up B, ATK UP SEC
Gohan (Adult) - No. 88 (Level 1, always the first one I threw on the field)
Following Skills Equipped: UTG Up T1 (ups Ultimate gauge), DEF Down T1 (lowers defense of opponents), ATK Down T1 (Lowers attack of opponents)
Gohan (Adult) - No. 88 (Level 1, threw on during second turn and swapped out previous if he didn't die)
Following Skills Equipped: DEF Down T2, ATK Down T2 (didn't have a third skill)
Cabba - No. 165 (Leveled to 37)
Following skills Equipped: (01 Skills) ATP Up 01, SPD Up 01 and STA Up 01.
As he explains in the video, the 01 skills enhance Cabba if he's on the field alone. I usually pulled him out on the third round and he would guarantee me more SPD and I'd generally go first, utilizing his ultimate. This would always wipe out every figure on the field and do massive damage to the Master.

Tips and Tricks Section
This last section is for tips on how to better obtain the figure you're after as well as grinding out EXP and TP Medals.
Obtaining the Figures you want through Figure Coupons and the Bulk Machine
If you're like me, then you've got crap luck when it comes to RNG. It doesn’t help that since this mode became a thing they’ve steadily added more figures over the years...I think it’s around 500 now? Those aren’t good odds for getting what you want through the Special machine.
The hardest figure for me to obtain was easily Swimsuit Android 18. I didn't even get the number the other solution mentioned, I got No. 152. Same ability, just different stats. She worked well enough but enemies prior to Beerus often couldn't kill her...so I don't know if the 151 variant is just easier to kill or what.
So I grinded out more TP medals than I can count...it makes me sick to think about it. She refused to appear. Alright...I see how it is, give me Imperfect Cell several hundred times and that goofy looking T-Pose Future Trunks. NO THANKS! So I looked at the Bulk Machine...that's right, FIGURE COUPONS! If you have a friend online or a second console handy, I HIGHLY recommend boosting Player or Ranked Matches to get as many coupons as you can. You get 2 (lose or win) for Player Matches plus a small amount of Master XP if you want it. Ranked Matches give you 4 for a victory, 3 to the loser. Randoms are pretty rare, so you should be able to do it any time without a fuss.
You cap out at 99 Coupons which equals about 33 figures. You also need 990 TP Medals along with it. By using the Bulk machine you VASTLY improve your odds by limiting the pool the machine can pull from. So for Android 18 in her swimsuit, you'd choose the 151 - 200 machine. 33 chances...out of 50 figures. It took me maybe 20 tries to get her.
Grind TP Medals
Getting TP Medals is as easy as Grinding Expert Mission 16 endlessly for 16 medals a piece...or following the Dragon Ball obtaining method in this video (note that you'll need to do PQ 131 and obtain the "Leave the rest to me!" Soul. I already had everything else in this video). With this method I was able to obtain a full set of Dragon Balls roughly every 30 minutes. Depends a bit on the RNG but it's a fast, easy method:
Limit Break to Figures you need!
Certain figures can also be obtained by "Figure Limit Breaking" lower rarity figures. So by example, say you want Future Gohan - No. 137. He's hard to come by, I eventually did through luck but before that I came across plenty of Future Gohan - No. 133 and Future Gohan - No. 135 figures. By Figure Limit Breaking you move them up a tier, so 133 becomes 135 and 135 becomes 137. I also had a No. 136 Future Gohan in another build that worked quite well for me, with some differing stats.
So if you're looking for No. 137 and No. 150, see about getting No. 133 (or 135) and No. 146 (or 148) to Limit Break them up. Also combine duplicates where you can and improve things like Attack for Gohan/Cabba/Vegeta and SPD for 18..
To maximize power you would be combining a bunch of 133’s until you can’t anymore, limit break to 135 and combine to cap then move to 137 and keep combining. Of course having multiple 137 Gohan’s is not easy so it’s not REQUIRED but if you plan it a bit you can make him more of a beast.
Grind EXP
When it comes to EXP, I ended up with a bulk of mine through “dismantling figures” that I didn’t need. I was able to 99 so many different figures...but it’ll take time when accounting for how many TP medals you’ll need. Alternatively you can fight any Free Battles you are confident in winning quickly over and over but...that’s far too slow. Dismantling figures is where it’s at for this.
While you can use the “Normal Capsule” machine for this I tended to use the Special one, as the Rares-Ultra Rares dismantle for big values. For 100 TP medals you could get 5 SRs which will net you a lot of EXP. For a thousand thats 50 figures...so on and so forth.
Buying TP Medals
While some will hate on this idea...you CAN buy TP medals. If you go to the TP Medal Shop or the Partner Customization droid, fiddle with the menus until you see something like “Buy DLC” or whatever. You will be brought to a screen with TP Medal Packs. NOTE: THESE ARE LIMITED! You can buy 2 of each pack and they function as DLC, so they have to be installed to play this game as they’re tied to the save profile. It’s weird I know but I tried to uninstall one and it wouldn’t let me play until I redownloaded it.
— To add the TP medals to your account, wait for the DLC to finish downloading and either leave the game all the way to the title (hit B to go back to the “press whatever to play” part) or roam around a bit in the TP medal shop getting loading screens until the message pops up. The message will display saying something about the medals. Accept and you’re good to go.
— If you have the money and don’t mind wasting it on getting this achievement done...then I recommend at least getting the cheap packs. Total it’s about $120.00 based on the values and that you can get 2 of each. It will save you time certainly but...since the game is RNG, if you’re after specific figures I HIGHLY RECOMMEND going after Figure Coupons. This is a gamble...you could spend money and get jack for figures. Plus side is you can turn around and dismantle the ones you don’t need.
-----If you're like me, then you've got crap luck when it comes to RNG.

God tier solution. Honestly you can use that one method from the Beerus setup for the entire game if you get lucky with pulls. I couldn't do it with Cabba though. He's too slow. If you want this to be a cakewalk, then swap that garbage unit for a level 99 Ultra Instinct Goku. He's so fast with those perks on he nukes the entire arena for almost 13,000 damage with an ultimate. And he's fast that on a 300% modifier you're hitting over 60,000 speed. Nothing in the game is touching that. :D Thumbs up man. Thanks again.

hi i would like to know how you unlocked the achievement "It Was a Good Fight. I Have...No Regrets", I did all the story battles and free battles until Goku SsGss, I talked to Oshi, but it didn't unlock, how did you unlock it? DRAGON BALL XENOVERSE 2

The Hero Colosseum is quite the time and TP Medal dump, but if you know what you're looking for and use uploads, then you can shorten it heavily.
First off, you'll need TP Medals, so I hope you saved them from the main game and didn't use too many. I've found going back to the game after a long period will result in me having a large number of TP Medals to collect so if the same for you then good, that will be a nice boost.
Each wish on the Dragon Balls will grant you 200 TP if you choose that as what you want. Expert Missions can also be farmed if you wish it to be less random than the Dragon Ball farming. Failing that, you could always buy TP Medals off the shop to save you time.
Next, you'll need to make use of uploading your save file to Cloud Storage/USB to make sure you get what you want. The method is as follows, though free to modify it as you like. 30 spins of 20TP will give you a free spin for a UR. You can use the x5 20TP to speed it up, which is nice. Use the x5 20TP option 6 times and then use up the free UR spin. All in all it'll cost you 600TP Medals. You're looking for SSGSS Vegeta, Teen Gohan, and Whis, who are URs.
You'll need to level break some figures, so always make sure you dissemble the max amount of figures possible (20) each time; the rarity of the figures dismantled is irrelevant. Dissembling the max amount will result in more bonus figure experience and also give you the best level breaking chips which you need for the figures you're going to use to clear this. Make sure to not break down any speed type R Jacos you get, as you can combine them into your R Jaco for a stat boost to his speed. Same with SR Gohan and the URs of SSGSS Vegeta, Teen Gohan, and Whis.
Below is what I used. It is not the only way to clear it of course, and future updates may well introduce very broken figures/character skills that make this easier.
Figures
1: UR SSGSS Vegeta. The one with the effect that allows him to attack the opponent directly. Careful though as there are two versions, one with around 4500 attack and another with like 2500. You want the 4500 attack one. UR SSGSS Vegeta is very much key to clearing all the battles and his stats are pretty good anyway, able to withstand an enemy attack if it ain't from a heavy hitter (Broly for example who hits for like 10,000). Get him to level 99.
2: UR Teen Gohan. The version with crazy high attack and low health. While Vegeta can do all the work on many of the guys, later opponents will require you to bring in Teen Gohan to launch a massive Super Kamehameha. His health actually improves quite a bit though I put some defense boosting skills on him to allow him to better survive the 1 hit (he won't survive two). Get him to level 99.
3: UR Whis. The high health one. He is tanky and can take a hit and even better he makes your Teen Gohan/Vegeta more able to take that hit you'll need them to take. Level 40 did the job for me but feel free to level him beyond that if you wish.
4: SR Gohan. I actually had the type with lower health and didn't even level him up as he is there simply to give his posing skill (30+) to your ultimate gauge (him getting killed will further boost it). While playing, I noticed at times he'd survive as say a high speed low attack enemy would hit him and it would benefit me, while other times him dying would benefit me. Got by with him at lv1 but you might well want him to tank a hit - in retrospect, it likely would have been easier if he could tank a hit at a good rate.
5: R Jaco. The one with high speed. Note that N Hercule and N Jaco (speed types) are basically the same speed; however, the R Jaco being a rare gets an extra character skill slot, which is big. Being a rare you can likely make good use of the combining feature to level a stat of his up. I didn't do it myself, but I guess speed would be the obvious just in case as when you deploy him you really want to go first. He is way too weak to survive against the later opponents, so boosting HP or defense is worthless, as is attack. Level him up to 50, which is his max.
Character Skills
Character skills are key. In earlier fights you can get by with Vegeta having the x2 attack if alone skill as you can take two enemy hits fine... however the later fights have guys like Broly throwing out 10,000 damage so... yeah... that eventually becomes impossible to use. You want to load Vegeta up with +10% damage dealt, +500 attack if in the front row, +20% damage if going second.
Teen Gohan wants +20% Ultimate Attack Damage as he'll be who will be using them (I've had him wipe out the whole field of even those overpowered Lv99 guys the AI has). For the other two slots, I actually had defense boosters. +700 defense if master is at below 50% and +700 if going second. Him taking a hit and surviving was often key in winning.
The rest aren't hugely important, but use whatever you want. +1000 speed if master at below 50% HP is a good one for R Jaco. +2% ultimate gauge if master goes below 50% is also sometimes a little boost that gets you there, ready for the ultimate a turn sooner. The - enemy team speed/defense if master goes below 50% are good options to take (your figures don't need to be on the field to activate character skills, they simply need to be alive).
Stuff to watch out for
In the later fights especially, an additional attack triggering for SSGSS is very much important. You often don't need both triggering, but in the later fights it really helps.
As Teen Gohan's ultimate attack damage boost activates when you go below 50% health you actually want to be reduced below 50% before you bring him in to first tank a hit and then later launch the ultimate attack. SSGSS Vegeta you want to tank a hit, and then bring him in again when Gohan is launching his ultimate. Whis is there to help Gohan or Vegeta, whoever you got that needs to survive that turn, survive. SR Gohan is there to boost ultimate. R Jaco is there for when Teen Gohan needs to launch his ultimate and you need to go first.
There are some enemies to watch out for also. Frost has a power that halves your attack and defense if he hits you first, so he gets put into your Vegeta Column and would weaken your direct attack, retry.
The UR Piccolo that reduces damage to the master by 50% is a killer too. UR Trunks who reduces it by 30% is less so, you can win even with it but still, nasty.
One of the later opponents, Beerus, has a Goku who when using his posing skill basically bars you from getting an ultimate as he reduces it by 15% at the end of the turn. So retry if it looks like he is going to deny you (you can survive if he is placed in a posing spot turn 1, but if during turn 2 then it's a bust).
The Janemba one or two of the final fights has is also like that Goku, so treat him the same.
Finally, there is the Zamasu in the final fight who along himself also heals the master by 30% (master has 30,000 health so that is 9,000 healing). I'd actually advise focusing fire down the middle (where he is likely to be) with two people (Teen Gohan with Vegeta behind him are what I used). Didn't kill him and he healed once but later Teen Gohan's ultimate disposed of him (and two others).
Misc
Spirit Bombs, as worthless as they are the majority of the time, can really help if you get one off as they take a third off everybody (including enemy master). They only activate if you are close to losing, and can activate as early as turn 3.
I cleared everything at Master LV35 so you don't need to grind all the way to the max or anything, but around that level is good. Had some fights where I tanked 2 direct attacks with really low health where I would have died if at lower health. I did for the record grind a few levels as doing the story missions and free battles won't naturally get you to LV35, but it was minimal (hour/2 hours). Vados in free battle would be the best person to grind against as you can beat her quickly without much risk of losing (use Vegeta with x2 if alone, attack directly, tank 2 direct hits, then turn 2 use Vegeta again but with two others with him to block possible direct hits/go first).
When dismantling, make sure to dismantle the full 20 (rarity irrelevant) so you can get a random T chip x10. If you have a particular type you need, then simply get 20 figures, upload your file to cloud/USB, and then dismantle them all and see what you get. If you get something you don't want then download the file and try again.
Keep in mind that even with all that above, it will still require retrying if the enemy places figures in bad places for you, retrying if Vegeta doesn't do an additional attack (not always required so don't retry every time if it doesn't happen turn 1). One of his two attacks having a follow up + Teen Gohan Ultimate is usually enough.
First off, you'll need TP Medals, so I hope you saved them from the main game and didn't use too many. I've found going back to the game after a long period will result in me having a large number of TP Medals to collect so if the same for you then good, that will be a nice boost.
