Reached Survival Wave 15 on Medium Difficulty

How to unlock the Survivalist achievement in Dungeon Defenders - Definitive Guide

This is by no means the only way to do this, but I have found it is at least one of the easiest and quickest. First off, you will need a Squire spec'ed out for towers. I would say level 70 is best, but around 50 will do just fine, maybe even less. Make sure you have a decent amount into Tower Health and Tower Damage, as well as a fair amount into Attack Rate. Attack Range is not quite as important.

Okay, you are going to be using the first level, entitled "The Deeper Well." You can start on whatever wave you want, I chose to use the highest possible which is Wave 8, but to be safe you may want to choose Wave 4 or 5. Play on Medium difficulty. Grab the chests and build a Bumper on each staircase leading up to the crystal. You want the stairs closest to the Crystal. Put each one on the bottom of the stairs. Also build Bumpers on the higher part to the left and right respectively of each one, blocking off those paths. Now you can start this wave. Kill everything you can with your sword and collect mana, nothing should get through. After the wave ends it's time to create the final build, you should have enough mana now.

At the top of each stair set, behind the Bumpers, put 2 Bowling Ball Turrets, facing down the stairs. Now sell the Bumpers on the stairs. Behind the other Bumpers, but two Harpoon Turrets, facing the doors at the top. And that's it. Just stand near the Crystal in case a random Ninja gets through, otherwise just keep up on upgrades and the repairs (you won't need much) and once you beat Wave 14 you should unlock your achievement, as well as a nice pet!

And in case anyone is wondering, it will probably take no more than an hour to complete this, and the final enemy count on wave 14 is just over 4000. If you have a Huntress, you can use her to shoot and move things a bit faster, just be sure to repair when necessary. You will probably only need to repair the Bumpers.

EDIT: If you still need the accomplishment, this method will work for getting to Wave 20 on Medium as well. You will probably have to repair a few times and I would still guard the crystal in case a random Ninja jumps over the towers. It will take around 3 hours for Wave 20.

Happy Dungeon Defending!

just a heads up second map is actually easier due to not having necromancers until wave 14 and ninjas until wave 16 and then in very low numbers. your defenses will be mounted far away from the crystal so no risk of it getting hurt by an arrow or fireball aimed at your hero moving about. the reason it's slower is due to the much slower spawn speed and higher number of enemies which make the waves go much slower which means you have plenty of time repairing your towers.

here is my defense layout for that level which made it easy to reach 20 and beyond. first put a bouncing ball centered on the top of the back stairs. and one in each diagonal entry point for first wave, later on when you can afford, switch the back stairs bouncing balls with double bowling ball turrets and add two turrets on the diagonal entry stairs, (not all the way up but just so you get as large possible death zone outside the bouncing ball. not to close to the walls or they will be in the range of the ogres, which just mean you will have to repair them when and if they decide to smack them down. I also had a slice and dice just behind the bouncy ball covering most of the stairs. you could switch these for a third turrets if your sure your first line will hold. which I wasn't in the beginning but it turned out that I never had to fear defeat. if you do you could move the bouncy ball up a little to avoid having archer shooting at it from the sides. just suffer probably 10 hour long run until wave 20 was complete. so yeah it that much slower but that's the price for a easier map.

I suppose I should have mentioned that, but when you are selecting what level you want to play, there is a box you can check off to change it to either Survival or Pure Strategy mode.

Just wondering but do you think its doable with a level 41 apprentice? With a maxed out dragon.

I'm not sure, to be honest I almost never play the apprentice. I'm all about the Squire and the Huntress, sometimes a little Monk action on certain levels. I would probably say it's POSSIBLE but it would be tough...

I'll give you +1 because this helped me get this achievement easy.

Just wanted to say that without seeing a map of where you put everything and just following the text doesn't really give you the info about the most optimal placements so wave 20 with this setup is super hard/impossible.

FYI, you can get this achievement and the accomplishment on Hard. You need to do level 15 on Hard to complete the game.

Wow, I ended up doing wave 20 on Servants Quarters, because the wave 15 Hamster was the last pet I needed, and I decided to keep going to 20. It took almost 7 hours, it was just awful.
