Long Haul Hero

Drive 1000 Miles (1600km).

How to unlock the Long Haul Hero achievement in EA SPORTS WRC - Definitive Guide

Unfortunately, there's no easy way to do this. You will have to actually go and race out these miles. I would encourage you to save this achievement for last as doing all of the others could get you a significant amount of the way there depending on the career length you choose, and how much you enjoy the other modes.

I went ahead and actually put together a list of the 5 fastest tracks that you can use to grind this based on time trial leaderboards. The fastest car class seems to always be WRC; which is good as these cars are usually pretty stable and easy to handle. Adjust your settings as you see fit, knowing that turning off assists will make you go faster.

This list will skew towards more popular tracks where people have competed for leaderboard positions the most. The average speed is taken from the 10th highest leaderboard position in order to even the results as much as possible.

Location - Track Name - Distance - Average Speed - Total Time to 1600km
Estonia - Otepaa - 17.1km - 139.28 km/h - 11.49 hours
Sweden - Hof-Finnskog - 21.5km - 137.48 km/h - 11.64 hours
Finland - Paijala - 22.9km - 134.27 km/h - 11.92 hours
Oceania - Waiwera/Tahekeroa - 18.0km - 119.38 km/h - 13.40 hours
Mediterraneo - Asco - 29.2km - 118.11 km/h - 13.55 hours

If grinding out, I would use a combination of these tracks based on your personal preference and ability. It is important to finish the stage in order for the mileage to count, so make sure you are doing tracks you can finish without popping a tire or causing damage. If you DNF (terminal damage), the mileage will still count. If you quit, or restart, it won't.

Either way, if grinding out from zero, the best case scenario is still well over 12 hours. Probably closer to 15+ hours for the average player.

Grinding in Time Trial mode is the best because restarts are almost instant, and you don't have to worry about championship results, loading screens, and vehicle repairs between stages.

Good luck!

Please ignore this comment, previously stated as below, it was based on an incorrect distance of 9.3km rather than the actual ~7.0km. Refer to additional separate comments for correction and clarification.

I have found that Rallye Monte-Carlo - Stage #05 La Mairis is probably the fastest stage in the game, based on an educated guess due to it being 100% asphalt and that essentially the entire second half of the stage can be driven very quickly, with only a handful of medium/hard corners beyond the half-way point. The average speed of the current #10 position on its leaderboard is 186km/h.

From glancing at other asphalt stages across all locations, nothing seems to be anywhere near as "friendly" to drive except for #06 Baisse de Patronel - the same stage driven in the opposite direction. Comparing leaderboards indicates Baisse de Patronel takes a few seconds longer.

While it is on the shorter side and so there are more restart intervals needed than for longer stages, I was able to get my time under 3m30s within about 10 runs, and even allowing 20 seconds between repeated runs, that makes it 3m50s to drive a distance of 9.3km, which is 145km/h. This equates to 11.03 hours for me to do the full 1600km at that average speed, and my best time of 3m26s still only just gets me in the top half of the leaderboard for that stage.

Terrible achievement. I just finished everything else in the game and have 50% of it done. Every race on Otepaa you are getting around 1% progress, so that adds up to almost 50 races just to get this done. :(

I obviously can't drive like the first place on the leaderboards, so doing some very average math, including loadings and time to breath between races, I'm looking at around 8 hours of Oteppaa races to get those 50% I need.

It ends up being 9 races = 10% roughly. I was able to get under 8 minutes for a run, but realistically 8m30s is far more common of a run. Add in some loading times, and 14-16 hours definitely sounds about right.

Nuxx solution is good but note that the stage is 6km and not 9.3km as stated in the game menu. (You can check that by looking at the distance on your counter below the speed when driving the car). So it's quite short but fast.

Thanks for picking up my error there, XOli360, I completely missed the counter incrementing the kilometres while driving.

I have taken another look and using screenshots and pixel counts for the stage progress bar based on when the counter ticked over to 6, my best estimate of the actual distance is 6.98km. This puts #10 leaderboard at approximate average speed of 140km/h, so still comparable with other fast stages on dirt/gravel and snow, but obviously not the clear cut choice I thought it was.

I'm going to these lengths with my investigation in support of my writing the TA walkthrough for the game.

Hey Nuxx, good thing to always check with another set of eyes, hope the walkthrough is going well. For my list, I believe I used 10km as the minimum stage distance. This was to cut down on restarts, loading times, and menus. Shorter tracks might work better for those who crash out a lot. The actual fastest stage I found was on Estonia, and was the faster half of Otepaa. I think it worked out to about 8.5km in 3m30s (145kmh) for my personal time, where I spent 7m50s on the 17.1km full track (131 kmh).

Thanks Maka, I actually had it submitted for review before these comments, but have since made a few small edits/adjustments accordingly for this final achievement.

If this is your last achievement like it was for me, then welcome!

I was done with all other achievements in game and still had 40%+ to go with this one.

I'm guessing best solution here if you want to be done quick with this achievement, is just take simple stages witch are straight and quick and just restart them after finished, for example I was taking Estonia or Finland 8KM tracks which are wide and mostly straight to be done with it quickly as possible. On car you drive you can see KM/Miles counter on speedometer.

Also take note - I noticed that progress doesn't count if you do not finish the track and get DSQ.

I accidentally DNF'd a race after playing on realistic and receiving terminal damage when my steering gave out; but it still gave me the % on the achievement for what I drove up to that point in the race.
