How to unlock the True racer achievement in F1 2010 - Definitive Guide

Just to add to everybody's solutions:

- Automatic gears can be used.

This makes the achievement extremelly easy, especially in Monza where you can get away with cutting the first corner slightly.

Outbreak the AI on the 1st corner and rest of the race shoulbe a breeze (play 1 lap).

This is exactly how I did it, but just to add, make sure you use your replays. Get a decent ish starting slot (I was 8th), then on the first bends try and get a advantage. I was lucky and there was quite a pile up, leaving just me and Petrov a race to the finish. If you are behing after the first couple of bends I'd recommend restaring the race. Once you get a decent start, just use your replays if you don't take a bend too well and get overtaken.

Ok, Here is how i made this 1 go pop.

Grand Prix, Mclaren, Hamilton,

Game settings.. short race weekend,1 lap race,Easy,Clear,
Monza (short & fast track).
Dont bother with practise,go straight to qualification. set a fast lap with all the driver assist on except for brakes. you should do a lap around 1.25ish, AI is around 1.29ish mark. So you will easily start on pole.

Now before you end qualification switch all driver assist to off except for gears, (automatic gears can be used for this achievement) (thanks for that MR Mascal GRT). Pit limiter & Pit box control to manual.

Now the only problem i had was spinning coming out of corners, (but if you feather the acceleration slowly you should not have to much of a problem) just remember to brake early and use your flashbacks & if needed restart the race.. I unlocked this 1st time of asking.

please leave a comment if you leave a negative vote. Thank you please..

This can be done in GRAND PRIX mode.

Select your favorite car and driver.

From the RACE SETTINGS screen, select "short race weekend",
"1 lap" race. Difficulty level will be a "custom " setup. Here are all the exact settings I used.

Braking assist OFF
ABS OFF
Traction control OFF
Dynamic racing line OFF
Gearbox AUTOMATIC
Pit limiter MANUAL
Pit box control MANUAL
Rules and flags REDUCED
Tyre simulation OFF
Fuel simulation OFF
Car damage simulation OFF
AI difficulty level AMATEUR
Flashbacks 4
Weather setting CLEAR

For a track I selected Montreal. This is a fairly straightforward track. I used the practice session to learn the braking points and see what I could get away with as far as the kerbs are concerned and acceleration limits. Take the time to thoroughly learn these 3 elements. Acceleration requires a gradual application of the throttle. The kerbs can be cut fairly aggressively without penalty. I kept the racing line full on during this session. I also used a setup that handled the small kerbs on this track with ease. I will include that setup at the end of my guide.

Next came the qualification session. Time to turn off the racing line. Use this session to see how well you learned the braking points. If you can get a time below 1:20 you should not have any trouble getting the pole. After a few attempts to make sure all data was correct, the AI on amateur never went below about 1:21 something.

Now go to the race and you should be able to hold them off with ease. Bada-bing, bada-boom, pop.

I hope this helps.

Aero 2-2

-SET-UP
-DO NOT play it in a career race as it is much longer.
-So set a 1 lap race on your favourite track (the one you know best and are fastest at, I chose Melbourne)
-Switch of every driver aid, then start the grand prix.
-The main problem is starting a race only is you get put randomly on the grid, luckily as Mark Webber I started from 3rd.
-However to get around this you could do qualifying as well but with Aids off that is Damn near Impossible.

-THE RACE-
-You must know when to change gears.
-Try to get into first place during the First 3 corners
-Brake Late and hard to overtake but do not fully brake as this spins you because of your brakes locking up
-Take it calmly and smoothly, try to come out of each corner in 2nd gear as this is the least Spinnable :L gear I found
-AND FINALLY DON'T GIVE UP AND SACRIFICE A GOOD GRID POSITION, 5TH PLACE AND UP IS GREAT!
-BUT MOST IMPORTANTLY USE YOUR FLASHBACKS WISELY THEY ARE KEY TO MAKING THIS CHIEVO POP!

My suggestion is to drive at Montreal, as it is a very short (and easy) track. Go to Grand Prix mode, turn all the assists off and change the distance to one lap. Difficulty on easy, flashback limit 4 and either Redbull, Mclaren or Ferrari as your team. Refer to "World Champion - Expert" for advice on driving without aids.
