How to unlock the Home Sweet Home achievement in Fallout 4 - Definitive Guide

To complete Home Sweet Home you will need to talk to Shank and establish 3 Raider outposts in the Commonwealth. (It is advised that you pick the smallest outpost first and after you claim it start prepping for 100% happiness by building beds inside of shelter, food, water, defenses, nuka radio transmitter and a booze distillery.)

After staking your claim you will need to make sure your Raiders stay happy as mentioned above. As a rule of thumb I went 1 extra for every settler I had IE: If I had 3 settlers I built 4 food/beds/water and 2 turrets, by the time I got to this part since I set up ahead of time I already had 100 happiness and could continue on.

The achievement says only to complete the quest line, is it required to make them 100% happy?

I do believe it is required to get 100% happiness in the Raider Outpost in order to complete the quest. But it is very easy and only takes a few minutes to do if you pick a small Outpost/settlement.

I'm on this part now. I picked the slog. After getting the other achievement for 100% happiness in a settlement, I'm kind of bummed they hid this in a quest line.....

I've managed to complete this quest without pursuing the happiness aspect. I think that's more of an optional route to take. It let me capture three outposts and voila; achievement.

Just got this and I didn't do anything except convince the settlers to leave. The only time I had to convince a settlement to supply us was the 1st time durring the "tutorial". I might have even been able to skip it. I didn't do anything about happiness or beacons, just the flags. Popped as soon as I placed the 3rd flag.

Same here. I just ignored the objective to get 100% happiness and the achievement popped on placing the third flag.

Having chosen Red Rocket as my first Raider settlement, I achieved 100% happiness immediately, presumably because I'd used this settlement for my 100% happiness place before, and then left it alone.

I think the happiness doesn't literally mean they need to be 100 on the happy stat. Rather than telling you how much happiness you need, I think the game tells you the percentage of reaching the required happiness. For example, if you needed 50 happiness and currently had 25 it would say you were 50% there. I don't know that for a fact, but I know when I've done quests to defend a settlement it sometimes would want me to build defenses, and sometimes based off of current defenses I'd start maybe at 60% or even 100%.

If u can't get 100% make sure no one is farming. I had 2 and my happiness kept going down. I switched them to scavenge materials and baM... 100

Just had the exact same problem, that and the Docile achievement is refusing to ping also.

I'm not sure how others were able to circumvent the 100% happiness requirement. As I followed the quest line, after I scared away the other raiders, the next objective was to increase the outpost's happiness. I had an optional objective to talk to Shank to run more jobs.

I tried talking to Shank about capturing more outposts (since I really didn't want to do the happiness thing again) but he kept telling me to focus on the first outpost first. I had options to scare more settlements into supplying the outpost, however, but I didn't pursue that.

I rolled up my sleeves and set to work raising the happiness to 100%. However, it seemed that the Raider Outpost happiness wasn't the same thing as the Settlement happiness that was displayed on the map. For example, the Outpost started at 41%, but on the map, the icon for the Settlement said 27%.

I asked Shank what I should do to raise happiness, and he said they needed water (I picked a spot that had pretty much nothing built to start with). I built a decent sized water pump, and a medium generator. That raised my happiness from 41% to 71% (the map icon still said 27%). I still had some red stats at the top of the workshop screen (Defense and Beds) so I built a small turret and four beds. That bumped me up to 100% as soon as I placed the last bed. So it seems the 100% Outpost happiness requirements are much more slack than the Settlement happiness requirements.

The objective was completed, and, after talking to Shank, the next objective was to establish more Outposts, with the progress automatically at 1 out of 3. At this point Shank would let me establish new Outposts in the Commonwealth.

Hope this adds some clarity.

Like ThaDevilzHand said, it's not the same as %100 for settlements. There is an in game prompt that lets you know the initial raider camps happiness level. It's not 1:1 with the settlement scale. I got the camp at %100 after providing enough beds and DEF. It updated as I went. The actual site was at %27 happiness, but the in game prompts updated to
%100.

Also worth noting to do an alternate save before talking to Shank about starting this questline since it can mess up your settlement network. I did everything to get the ach. then reloaded a save prior to this so I could wipe out the raiders.

Easy Way of getting this and probably the best way is to build 1 Nuka radio tower 6 beds under shelter 6 water 30 power 50 defence 5 food if you only have 3 raiders build 1 bar and 1 clinic and assign 2 of your raiders to 1 the clinic then 2 the bar the third raider on food now just build 3 pick me up stations the achievement should be yours shortly after much easier way if your wanting it done quick and simple

Story-related, though slightly missable if you follow through with the "Open Season" side quest.

This achievement will unlock after fulfilling all of Shank's requirements for establishing new Raider camps within the Commonwealth during "Home Sweet Home."

Story-related but can be MISSED.

This should pop on the completion of the quest "Home Sweet Home" but it can be missed if you complete the "Open Season" quest, before finishing the main Nuka-World storyline.

In order not to spoil relations with the Minutemen, you can simply capture empty settlements that you found and cleared, but did not populate anyone. Upon arrival to the group, they will say that the settlement is empty and there is no one to kill. But the skull will still appear on the map

Complete nonsense. Relations with the Minutemen deteriorate exactly at the moment when you create a flag of one of the raider gangs on the workbench and install it in the settlement. Whatever one may say, even if you use the method in this hint, the flag will still have to be set to advance in the quest and relations with the Minutemen will be ruined.
