How to unlock the FFX-2: Dancing Queen achievement in FINAL FANTASY X/X-2 HD Remaster - Definitive Guide
To get this book, you need to defeat the Experiment at level 5 in Djose temple during chapter 5.
The setup for this begins in Chapter 1 in Djose. Be sure to go here and apply to dig at the digsite, then get the "Letter of Introduction" from Gippal. Also, go to the desert to complete your first dig. On your first dig, be sure to get the yellow "X" to get the Still of Night garmet grid. For the future digs, only get the red and white "X"s, DO NOT GET THE YELLOW "X". Each one will make the ending more difficult.
In Chapter 4, be sure to visit Djose Temple several times (I believe 5x) using the commsphere. By doing this, you will be given the password needed to later repair the experiment you break during your first fight. (Password is "MARNELA").
At the beginning of Ch. 5, go to Djose Temple to defeat the experiment the first of 2 required times. The first fight is very easy and straightforward. Once you defeat it, talk to the guy in the temple wearing a blue bandana. He is down the stairs from the boss (where you pushed in the pedestals to unlock the room with the fayth in ch. 3). When he asks for the password, tell him what you heard in the CommSphere (MARNELA). He'll give you the repair manual to fix the experiment for another fight. It doesn't matter if you fix the experiment before leveling it up or not, either way, the new parts are added. Do not fight it again until you level all the stats up to level 5.
***Be sure to level the experiment to Lvl 5 in all BEFORE completing the Cactuar guardian mini-quest. If you wait until after, you will have to defeat a super-boss (330k HP & an attack that hits the whole party for 4k along with other powerful single-target attacks) before you can continue digging. ***
The experiment is leveled up through the Bikanel Desert minigame. During a dig, a yellow "X" represents a random assembly part. These will increase the attack, special, and defense of the experiment. All 3 of these values need to be level 5.
Personally, I used armor with the "No Encounters" trait and did the Western Expanse for most of my digs. The map is zoomed out here, and you can almost always see the yellow "X" marking the assembly piece right at the starts. If you ignore the white "X"s and head straight back to the hoover after getting it, you can be done with each dig in under 20 seconds. The white "X"s can contain Al Bhed Primers and coins for Sphere Break, but also include items like potions, x-potions, and other things that aren't really worth the effort. They can also cause you to get ambushed, wasting time. It took me 55 successful digs to get everything to lvl 5, and you do not get a notification upon getting everything to level 5 so be sure to keep track. You can check how many of each component you have by going into the room just inside the temple on the right side. Use the machine in here to check the parts catalog. You can apply for raises here as well, but they aren't really worth it. I only went from 300 -> 500 gil per dig after a raise.
To get to level 5, you need 38+ points, which are gained by:
Assembly Z: 5 Points
Assembly S: 3 Points
Assembly A: 1 Point
Once you defeat this boss at maxed stats, you will be given Magical Dances, Vol. II. I used 2x Dark Knights & 1x Alchemist to easily defeat him. Use Darkness as the attack with the Dark Knights since it ignores defense, and I used mix(High-potion + Potion) rather than stash for mega-potions since it is faster. I easily beat him first try with this setup.
Note from Meszerus: For people aiming to learn all dress-sphere abilities: Experiment (specifically at level 5) is the only enemy in the game that teaches your Gun Mages the skill "Annihiliator". This attack typically comes next after the "Lifeslicer" attack.
***EDIT: Thank you Meszerus for pointing out that Volume 1 is NOT required for this achievement. ***
Magical Dances, Vol. I is a reward for completing the Den of Woe under Mushroom Rock Road. To get it, you need to collect all of the Crimson spheres during the story and use them to unlock the door. At the back of the cavern, you will need to defeat Rikku, Pain, Barali, Gippal, & Nooj. Be sure to have 5k+ health for the fight against Nooj, as he uses an attack at low health one time that hits 5k to all party members. This can also be avoided by using a special dress sphere just before he does the attack. I'm not sure if this is required since I had it completed before going for Vol. II, but I wanted to include this just in case.
If you have any questions, please ask in the comments. Also, if you negative vote, please give a reason why in the comments as well so the solution can be updated/fixed.
**EDIT: Thank you to Daelus1 for pointing out the need to get the yellow "X" on the first completed dig. **

Thumbs'd up, thank you for the guide! :) I'd like to just add some more info for completeness:
- To manage expectations: digging in the Western Expanse was easy, but even with a no-encounters accessory (a Charm Bangle) it still took me roughly an hour.
- For people aiming to learn all dress-sphere abilities: Experiment (specifically at level 5) is the only enemy in the game that teaches your Gun Mages the skill "Annihiliator". This attack typically comes next after the "Lifeslicer" attack.
- For an Alchemist, mixing a regular Potion with a Hi-Potion is sufficient to create a Mega-Potion.
- Personally, I opened the battle with two Gun Mages (each wearing accessories that would boost their max HP) both casting "Mighty Guard" so one of them would land before one of them potentially die. The Alchemist would be on heal/revive duty. Then, once everyone is Mighty Guarded and healed well enough, I swapped all my girls to Gun Mages to learn the Annihiliator attack. From that point onwards, I swapped out two of them for Dark Knights, the other for an Alchemist, and followed the strategy you advised, and it was pretty easy. Thank you!
- To clear up the uncertainty you mentioned about possibly needing Vol I first, I can confirm that Vol II can be obtained without having Vol I first. I have not entered the Den of Woe at all yet.

If you do not dig a yellow 'x' in the mission the first time it appears you do not get the Still of Night GG which may impact 100%ing the game (you get the 100 gil when you do later but not the GG). 1 increase to the Boss cannot make it materially more difficult in fight 1 seeing as you need more than 50 parts to complete it and that fight isn't overly difficult. At a minimum you should be pointing this out.
