How to unlock the Threat Facer achievement in FINAL FANTASY XIII-2 - Definitive Guide
"Threat Facer"
This achievement is a storyline achievement and cannot be missed. It is awarded for reaching episode 4, which begins in Academia 400AF. The achievement, like all other story based achievements, unlocks after the cutscene when you first enter Academia.
To reach Academia 400AF, you'll have to face a couple of bosses to solve the paradox in the Sunleth Waterscape. The first is the Faeryl, found in the Archylte Steppe.
Faeryl
108120 HP
90 Chain Resistance
150% Stagger
Immunities - Deprotect, Deshell, Poison, Curse, Pain, Fog, Daze
Fire-Absorbed
Thunder-Weak
Blizzard-Weak
Aero-Absorbed
Physical- Normal
Magic-Normal
Notes:
Delivers Devestating physical attacks
Executes powerful magic attacks
employs powerful fire-based attacks
employs wounding attacks that reduce maximum HP
Faeryl was the hardest of the two bosses for me. the immunities mean using a sabateur is wasting time, so concentrate on its chain gauge with relentless assault. look out for its big attack "Megaton Charge", swap in a sentinel or two to reduce damage and then heal as quick as you can while maintaining the stagger gauge. Once it is staggered, increase the gauge as much as possible before switching to either Aggression (Com, Com, Rav) or Cerberus (Com, Com, Com) to deal maximum damage
Afterwards, return to Sunleth and face the Mutantomato
Mutantomato
49520 HP
85 Chain Resistance
250% Stagger
Immunities- Slow, poison, curse, fog, pain, daze, dispel
Fire-absorbed
thunder-normal
blizzard-normal
aero- weakness
physical-halved
magic-halved
Notes
Delivers Devestating Physical Attacks
Capable for inflicting poison
Employs wounding attacks which reduce maximum HP
Mutantomato halves all damage you deal to it, but it is significantly easier to beat than Faeryl. Use Relentless Assault or Tri-disaster to boost the chain gauge up to stagger, and proceed to attack as hard as you can to take him out pretty quickly. If he inflicts poison on you, switch to Diversity (Com, Rav, Med) to heal th poison and give a quick bout of healing to everyone, before going back on the attack. Mutantomato can be hit with deprotect, deshell and imperil to make the battle faster for 5 stars, but there's not a lot of need really.
After mutantomato, you'll get the artifact which unlocks Academia 400AF
