How to unlock the Instrument of Hope achievement in FINAL FANTASY XIII - Definitive Guide
There are 2 boss fights in this chapter. A Cocoon l'Cie and an Eidolon.
The l'Cie will change tactics depending on your stance. I recommend debuffing it as much as you can and switching to a relentless assualt. If you have a synergist, buff yourselves as well. The l'Cie has a skill that does 50-70% damage to the party as well as removing all party buffs. If things get tight, you can summon your eidolon. This fight is potentially the harder of the two boss fights this chapter.
The final boss fight of the chapter is against an eidolon. It responds to debuffs, defense and chain-building. I recommend starting the battle with 2 members sabotaging and one healing. From there switch to a defensive stance with one member defending, one healing and one doing as you will. After healing up, switch to an all out assault to fill the gauge. I surprised myself by doing this fight in 1:37. The key is to skip the cut scenes so it will go to the main menu and allow you to reconfigure the paradigms; when your party is changed to these members you will be given a pre-defined set of stances. You should be able to come up with some better ones on your own.
Go to the end of the level, some cut scenes later you are in chapter 11 and bloop!
The l'Cie you fight in this chapter is a real pain, the following guide works like a charm
"Use Lightning, Snow and Sazh. Set up a Paradigm for Med/Sen/Syn, one for Rav/Rav/Rav, one for Com/Com/Rav and one for Med/Sen/Rav. Make sure that in your two Commando Paradigm that you have Snow as your other Commando since he should know launch by now. Use a Fortisol, before you start the encounter and use Med/Sen/Syn to begin the fight. The key is to not damage him until you really want to lay waste to him. Once all your buffs are up, I think you can do this without the Fortisol, it will just take a little longer of Sazh putting up buffs, switch to Com/Com/Rav for at least one round to get your stagger meter up a little. Then switch to Rav/Rav/Rav and give him hell. When you get someone low on health, switch to Med/Sen/Rav and heal up, make sure you keep at least a Rav on him and don't heal for long then switch back to Rav/Rav/Rav. You want to avoid letting him transform which he will do after a certain amount of damage, not time. Once you get him staggered, immediately switch to Com/Com/Rav and kill him. You have to stay on him, but with two Commandos you should be able to keep him in the air the whole time. This method should kill him in one stagger and he will never transform. I was just like you and searching for a way to kill him and found one person who recommended this among lots of other people with long drawn out fight sequences, figured I'd try it and I killed him in 2:22. Good luck"
This is a story related achievement, which will unlock with natural progression through the game.
It will unlock towards the beginning of Chapter 11.
Another end-of-chapter Eidolon fight! This one is the hardest of the lot, but still easy compared to “normal” bosses. This time you will be fighting against the King of Summons, Bahamut. We advise a party of Fang (leader), Lightning and Hope, with paradigms of SAB/MED/SAB (default), SEN/MED/MED (2) and SEN/RAV/RAV (3). You won’t be able to select these Paradigms the first time you start the fight, so you’ll have to Pause the game once the battle starts and select “Retry”.
When the battle starts proper, use the default Paradigm until Slow, Imperil and Deshell are on Bahamut. Switch to Paradigm 2 when your health drops significantly low, and use Paradigm 3 to attack him. Both attacking him and putting debuffs on him will quickly fill his Gestalt Gauge, so keep swapping between 1 and 3 (with occasionally uses of 2 to heal) and he will be ready to submit in no time. As always, press once the Gauge is full to end the battle.
Once you reach Gran Pulse and gain control of your character, this trophy will unlock.
