How to unlock the Stuntman achievement in Forza Horizon - Definitive Guide
This one was giving me trouble for hours. I watched a ton of videos and read tons of posts and couldn't figure out how to do it. I've finally been able to get the scores for all of the outposts ive found so far including the 28k one. It may take a few tries but keep at it.
For people who don't want to pay for achievements and do this the normal way.
Set difficulty to easy.
change only :
transmission to MANUAL
traction control to OFF
Use B and X to change up and down gears.
(traction control off is just as important as manual transmission)
Note: you do not need to follow the directional line, you can drive any direction you want. In some tracks i turned around after drifting too far causing me to do a burnout and continue drifting or i just turned left at the start instead of right. Look for the most open roads and the most signs and traffic.
Ok so when you start you can usually get a nice burnout in 1st gear up to 1000 points and change up to second and keep drifting left right left right.. if you see your points have stopped going up press A to ebrake while holding left or right to get it started again.. left right left right.. Keep the chain going and eventually it will give you high enough points. Sometimes not until you've been drifting for close to the time limit. If you can, stop the drift and go close to cars for near misses or purposely run into a sign which can sometimes give big bonuses.
some people say keep in 3rd gear but i found in 3rd gear i lost control of the car really easily but in 2nd i could hold the drift for big combos constantly. Other people say feather the throttle. i always kept full throttle in 2nd gear and only released it when i was going to crash into a barrier or sometimes you need to when flicking left and right.
if you feel you are going to crash just stop. Like i said its hard and i had to restart many times, but what ive described here is how you keep a constant drift going. I'll have the achievement soon.
EDIT: this method does not work for kettle hills due to the awd lambo. Leave it as AUTOMATIC and traction control ON. Instead of going right, turn left and follow that road hitting signs and getting near misses till you get to a T intersection. Straight ahead to the right are some tables you can hit for points. Continue toward the barn on the dirt and you will find a track that goes along it with heaps of chairs, then you will crash through a fence for landscaping 1000 points, then do a ebrake then further down on the left is heaps of fences for landscaping, be sure to hit 1 or 2 then just keep doing burnouts, hit another 1 or 2, burnouts, crash a fence.. got 35k doing this
Difficulty:
ABS: ON
Steering: NORMAL
Traction Control: ON
Transmission: AUTOMATIC
If you are struggling with having assists off or you do not feel comfortable with it try these settings.
Basically it is like feared aussie already said. Try to keep your combo chain running optimally the whole time through the event. Everything explained here can be used for any skill challenge.
Thats what I did in the 28k skill event: Turn left at the beginning and simply follow the road. Always e-break as soon as you see your combo sign steady. It does not have to be fast just turn left/right while e-breaking and your combo will continue. Whenever you see a sign on the road smash it with patience. There will be some wide areas with dusty ground where you can gain even more points than drifting on the straight road. Also there are some signs to hit again pretty easily. If you always followed the road you will come to a place with many little objects right next to the street on the left hand side. There you should already have like around 6000 points with a 4x multiplier if you did not lose your chain before. Then you simply have to hit these objects right in a row with very slow speed and you will have much more than the required 28000 points. But even if your chain breaks before you still have a chance to get it done when you reach that point without any further mistakes. Got 35k+ points using this way.
If you dislike anything in this guide please tell me why so that I can edit this one and improve others in the future.
Good luck!
There are 10 outposts scattered throughout the map and each outpost will have 3 PR events to complete. These include hitting a certain speed at a speed trap, amassing a set number of points pulling of tricks or taking a photo at a specified location. Each event will supply you with a car in which to complete it, so there is no need to worry about credits and buying new cars.
- Speed Traps: These are quite easy to reach the required speed. The main problem is the NPC cars you have to dodge whist gaining speed. Don't forget, unlike previous Forza games you can verge off road and not lose a great deal of speed. Also if you are driving manual, try and change up gear well before you hit the speed trap.
- Photo Shoot: This is the easiest of the 3, simply drive to the location and snap a photo of your car with the required landmark in the background. It doesn't have to be a masterpiece and Alice will tell you if you haven't included enough of the landmark. Just be sure to drive carefully on the way, as significant damage to your car will cause you to fail.
-Trick Challenge: This is the hardest of the 3 as it requires you to perform various tricks along a preset route. Each challenge will have a target score and a time limit, but the key to this will be stringing tricks together. A general rule to follow is to focus on passing and wreckage tricks on straights, and drifting tricks in corners. Just remember that crashing into any obstacle and losing a great deal of speed will void the score. You do not need to reach the target score within a single combo so if at any time you feel yourself losing control, brake to score the points, then start on a new combo.
As drifting will be the main way of earning points and stringing tricks together, here are some drifting tips to make these stunts easier. (Credit to theDonJose for originally posting these)
- Manual Transmission is a must. 2nd and 3rd gear are your friends on most cars.
- E-Brake constantly. Tapping the e-brake then giving a lot of gas will throw the ass end of the car out to start the drift.
- Feather the gas. Feathering the throttle will usually keep the drift going. You rarely want to be full throttle. But you also want to keep enough speed to keep your forward momentum.
- Unless you are on a curve, steering should only be used to make minimal adjustments. Steer into the drift but using the throttle will do more to correct your driving line most of the time.
- It's all about balancing throttle and steering. You want just enough slip to keep the wheels spinning, but not too much that you lose traction and spin out.
These may take some practise to master but overall are not too difficult. Once you have completed all 30 stunts, the achievement will unlock.
