WARNING - USING THIS METHOD MAY DECREASE YOUR ALREADY ACCRUED PROGRESS (according to Reqqu). Due to this possibility, I recommend getting these out of the way before proceeding with any other MP achievements so that they don't tamper with your miles lead tally. The majority of people however, have had the same success I had with this method.

I've been boosting other people's designs and tunes by doing a 1/4 mile drag race in private multiplayer lobbies and rubberbanding my controller and after 20 or so heats this achievement, along with all of it's predecessors popped.

Set up a private multiplayer lobby with at least 1 drivatar. Make sure the settings are:

- Game type: Drag
- Environment: Any
- Track: 2-car 1/4 mile drag
- Max players: doesn't matter
- Max drivatars: AT LEAST 1
- Drivatar difficulty: whatever you are comfortable with
- Force off TCS: up to you
- Easiest shifting allowed: automatic (as you can rubberband the trigger and press A when prompted at the end of the heats)
- Number of heats: 10 (10 is the max. Around heat 20-25 you should unlock all of these achievements)
- Car class: set this option to whatever class you are using
- Drive type: again, set this to whatever you are using.

Start the race. Most of the time you will show that you are in 1/1* place so you won't get any medals, but for some reason, the mile tracker counts and it progresses fast! I got this after around 25 1/4 mile heats which took me maybe half an hour or a little longer. ENJOY!!

*EDIT*According to Arch Lord, when he set his races up, it showed him being in 1/2 place and it still worked.

***EDIT 01/03/2015*** The issue with decreasing miles on the achievement may be related to having metric units when drag racing. According to HolyHa1fDead, "I was drag racing for medals with another person when I rapidly started getting these achievements for leading. I let the other person lead but they weren't making any noticeable progress. Thats when we worked out that I had changed my units from Metric to English...As soon as the other person changed to 'English' they got the achievement in 20 or so heats."

So it looks like a bug is only in the 'Imperial' drag mile to achievement progress conversion code." -- What this means is try changing settings from KM to miles for the drag heats

I can't get it to work. I'm following the instructions exactly and the counter isn't going up at all.

From the main menu, I go down to multiplayer, press Y for a private match, and set it up exactly as described. 10 heats and nothing popped and no progress shown. I have my settings set to "English" as well.

Works with 8 player as well (I had a private multiplayer match with one friend who was in the lobby but not racing). I got it after 15 heats. I was at 520 miles before I started. Medals also work as well.

Medals only work in private matches as long as there are at least 2 real people in the lobby. Without at least 2 people, regardless of how many drivatars you have, you will not earn medals

if you follow instructions in my solution, you'll notice that I clearly say that you should do this in a PRIVATE MULTIPLAYER LOBBY. read the solution line by line and follow those instructions.

I would just like to add that it still works after the large patch, 13/1/14 and I used the max players 1, with an AI driver added that didn't race. This method took me 25 heats, while I messed with it for about 50 before with 2 drivers with no progress at all.

^ if you're going for medals at the same time, you have to have at least 1 real player racing with you. That is the only way to earn medals in private lobbies

It is actually a guide on an exploit that occurs naturally while playing the game. I didn't discover this by doing anything special except boosting tunes and designs for people; it's not like you have to enter a cheat code. I didn't ask for this exploit, but it occurred nonetheless. I decided to share this with people which undoubtedly, the majority found helpful

I can confirm that as of 5/6/14 this still works. Started out with 0 on my dummy acct while racing for tuning/design credits, and got the achievement within the first hour. Totally surprised by this, as I had not seen this solution yet. Came on here today to see if anyone had also had this happen...

Oh yes, it DOES still work :). I did maybe 15 drag races yesterday night with my m8 to boost tune and design cheevos. All of sudden Ive been given cheevos for leading miles in multiplayer :). It took me about 30 min :). I also stacked up multi medals and affinity - so a lot, a lot of progress {happy} :D

I was doing this in a private multiplayer match with a buddy and he was getting first and I was getting 2nd or 3rd al the time. That destroyed my progress, but for him it didn't, he got the achievements.

After that I started up another private multiplayer match alone and made sure I got first and a gold medal all the time. Got the achievements within half an hour!

So you can still do it, but you have to make sure you get first I think

Discovered this by chance. My theory is the decimal point is in the wrong place, instead of it being 0.25 miles (1/4), it counts as 25 miles. That makes it 100 times quicker.

Looks like I'm in the unlucky boat. Boosted the multiplayer medals with a chap outside the US, midway through my medals and miles counters reset. My medals counter corrected themselves shortly, but my miles never recovered from 0%. I even did 30 heats with this method and nothing. Guess it's good I didn't plan on completing this game anyways =(

Can someone help. I tried several times creating a multiplayer match with drivatar and creating with a Friend and I didn't got any % it's stil on 0% for 4 achievements :( And I'm missing only these for to complete the Forza 5

This method is kind of unstable, but it Works. My progress was initially reset to 0%. If that happens don't worry, keep doing it. Eventually it starts to track again and then it goes pretty fast.

Still works. I have metric settings and I had 200 miles done in 20 heats. 1000 miles were done in 45 heats. Still faster than light ;)

@plesniaczek : I'm having trouble doing this. I already unlocked one of the "x miles in the lead" achievements when I read this solution. I switched to English settings and tried the method. Now all of my "x miles in the lead" achievements are stuck at 100% but without unlocking. I also believe I don't see them in the achievement tracker anymore. I only see them in the xbox app... Any advice?

This was not working for me.

I did everything as described, with my units set to English, and I must have done about 60 heats and nothing.

I switched to Metric units, and within 20 or so heats I had all the "lead by x miles" achievements pop.

So it would seem that now you have to have your units set to Metric for this to work.

This solution worked perfectly for me & my sons. I was boosting the Tunes & Designs achievements by using both XB1 consoles. However, our console Region is metric and the game settings are metric. Nothing was changed. They both received the Lead achievements and some of the medal achievements. Just use the settings for MP above. ***** :)

Can confirm that you need to recover from negative miles. Did online boosting and mileage decreased even below zero. Then I boosted in private lobby and tracking came back after 30 runs. Did it with metric settings.

Well, you would. Game hasn't been updated in a very long time and won't be updated again. Srsly, that time of minus 5 seconds is still on that Indianapolis track on the C class rivals events which gives you 100k.

Nevermind, it inexplicably started working this morning. For those having trouble getting this to work, I suggest either waiting or doing 15 or so heats without seeing any progress (not sure which did it).

Also, watching the tracker closely, it looks like the most progress is made towards the end of the 10 heats (almost as if each heat grants you progress plus the cumulative progress you've made thus far for the current 10 heats). So setting it to 10 heats is important and does more than save menu time!

I got every others achievement easy except this one. Had it to around 88% when I looked long time ago then it began dropping down till 0 and now it's definitely locked and won't track again...

After years trying different methods for this achievement I finally have it unlocked. I was stuck with 0% since 2013 and my track never went up. I've been racing for like 2,3 hours now and suddenly the track start to move. If you are having the same problem just keep racing and you'll eventually get it. Put a rubber band on RT and let it go if needed.

I just came to check what was going on with this as i started doing drag races to check if would be able to boost medals that way and my achievements for leading miles progressed very quickly. Done all them up to 1000 in short time and wanted to check if this was a known thing or not

I can confirm that this solution works. The lead miles rack up unrealistically fast with this method. I used the X class to make this as quick as possible. It showed I was in position 1/2 for the race, unlike the above how it says you will be in 1/1 place.

@Arch Lord Unrealistically fast doesn't even come close. Got the 350 miles cheevo and then two races after got the 500 mile one using the above method (with my gamerfriend as no.2). Madness!

Miles are a unit of the British (not English) Imperial System. What's wrong with Imperial (apart from Stormtoopers)? Hey guys. I was boosting MP wins and i didnt know that it is decrasing this achiev progress. Then I started doing it solo with one AI player and it didnt progress. But I didnt give up. I have done about 50 heats and it started counting again! Later, quickly after 20-30 heats the cheevo has popped :) so dont worry if achiev doesnt progress and keep doing it by this method. Finnaly it will start counting :) I can confirm that theory of HolyHa1fDead is true because every race gives you <25 miles (that was for me because at the beginning of the race i was 2nd but quickly after start i turn on 1st position). And Im not sure if thats matter but I ve changed units from metric to miles.

Still works as of 4/19/16. But negative miles are a real thing. I had slight progress in the achievements and it went back to 0% after boosting for medals. It took 40 heats to get some percentage to show up, but it will show up and works as said above. Just don't give up! AND DO THIS FIRST

One easy, yet very hard way to do it is to race 13 laps on Nordschleife + GP with 1 AI on New Racer difficulty on a private server. (13 laps will get you over 200 miles, you could also do 39 laps to get over 600 miles, keep in mind 13 laps will be just over 2 hours)
