How to unlock the Professional Locust achievement in Gears of War: Judgment - Definitive Guide

This achievement applies when playing as Locust in the Overrun game type.

The locusts:

Tier 1: Wretch - Ticker - Grenadier - Kantus
Tier 2: Rager - Serapede - Mauler - Corpser

Tier 1 locusts are available from the off and cost 0$, whereas Tier 2 Locusts cost money to spawn.

All kills can be gained in Private Overrun matches, they do not have to be in public games. Kills in private/casual/ranked all count.

View Progress:
Main Menu > Stats & Awards > Scroll Down to 'Overrun' > Hit LB & RB. Pages 24 through 31 are your stats for each monster, and they detail how many kills you have.

Main Menu > Stats & Awards > Hit RB for achievements tab. Find achievement at the bottom of the list (If locked)

Any kills achieved before the release of this downloadable content (23rd April '13) do count towards this achievement!

Edit #1
If you are already over 100 kills for each Locust killing one enemy COG will pop the achievement. Thanks OGxBillyTheKidx

Edit #2
If doing a private game of Overrun, if you start as Locust and play until you swap onto COG, you can then leave and the kills still count. Thanks Wolfie9985

Please leave a comment if anything is unclear

Would just like to add that when doing a private game of Overrun, if you start as Locust and play until you swap onto COG, you can then leave and the kills still count.

This will save you from having to play as the COG (ie saving 6+ minutes), so as to not prolong the agony of this game.

Personally I'm unsure. As i only had 7 to mop up with the mauler. I already had 100 before content release

@ Crimson Drifter, no there is no tracker for this either for individual locust nor when you hit 100 of a type, what I've been doing is making a note of total kills with a given locust every few games been mostly bosting this on Skyline

There is a tracker under the achievement section of the stats.

Can you get this achievement even if you do not have the DLC?

@Jennitiger1138 - if you goto stats and awards and the page that has the achievement, highlight this achievement and it will give you a list of the locust and the number of kills out of 100 that you currently have. (No need for pen/paper :P )

I found that if you need kills, use a second controller (if you have one) and have them be a Medic. Find somewhere in a corner away from everyone to meet, throw down the stim gas and keep killing them with the Locust of your choice (this works with a Wretch, Grenadier, Kantus and Rager at least). Depending on how fast you are, you can get up to 2-3 kills at a time. I was getting up to 5 kills with a Rager enraged (also got the "Dread the Rage" achievement this way). Just don't use explosives and the Medic will keep getting revived until the gas runs out.

For Ticker kills, again, find a corner somewhere and attack them with RT. Use Paduk since he has the least health. After 5-6 swipes, he falls down dead, then just explode for another kill. Keep repeating. Two kills, one COG.

Okay, doesn't work so well for Grenadiers and Kantus, but works for Wretches. I'm sure it's outlined in the "Don't You Die on Me" solution.

But the Rager enraged works wonders. Easy multiple kills and a ton of points to get the higher up Locust quicker.

The first tier Locust are so much harder to finish than the second tier. I was running 20-40 kills per life as all the second tiers, but it's nearly impossible to get kills as a ticker or wretch. The Kantus classic Hammerburst is god-awful as well and it is stupid hard to get kills with it. The grenadier isn't so bad, at least.

do you need to own the DLC to be able to unlock the achievement (sorry if this seems like a stupid question)

The ticker can actually get 2 kills in one go.. Can be in Private Match.
Have a friend or dummy controller to help. It's fastest with a friend.
The friend or dummy will be on the Cog team.

Go in a quiet place in the map.
And instead of exploding your "helper" bite him until he goes down and first then explode..

So the person who needs the kills, will be the ticker, and the other a random Cog.
I prefer to use Paduk, since he has the least HP.
Bite Paduk's so he goes down and explode.

Voila!
You get 2 kills instead of 1..

*** UPDATE ***

When working on getting the Wretch kills..

A quick way to do these, is combine it with boosting the "Don't you die on me" achievement.

Have two friends and yourself go in a Private Overrun on Terminal..
On the right side at all the first holes/generator, there's a bit quiet areas.
Down the medic one at a time, wait for Stim grenade to be thrown, Rinse and repeat

I got wretch kills in local with extra controller. Paduk and wretch are the only ones that can climb so I did it on the first two section of island as it's the quickest to get to. Have wretch wait and Paduk climb up to get killed. If you do it near the edge Sofia with throw stims and revive him, plus you get the ai Paduk come up and on casual he is stupid and two melee hits kill him easy

Yeah that's true, that it works on both achievo and kills, but in the method you mention there's a chance of getting killed unwillingly..

With my mothod I only experienced twice in 400 kills, that a Mauler went this route, which is strange since the corners are not shortcuts

But yeah nice one Kash, it all counts ;)

Great solution. The Ticker was the most annoying of the bunch but using the double kill trick made it much quicker.

All of the Locust kills may be attained in Private solo matches against robots. Some are easier than others. If, like me, you like doing things cooperatively, then gather 6 players (4 with guest controllers) and let's get to work.

6 Players - 4 with guest controllers
~ 5 main accounts on the Locust side starting as Tickers (including player going for kills)
~ all guest controllers + one main account on COG side
~ the one main COG account should be a Medic with others Scouts

Two hours is enough for one rotation of six players.
With a sixth account simply idling a controller, a little over three hours will allow for two rotations of 5 players. Figure between 18 to 20 minutes per player turn. In private matches, players are not be kicked for inactivity. Just have them plug in a wired controller.
Have one player without a guest controller invite the others into a game lobby. Have them Select Versus > Private > Overrun > Map: Terminal with Mercy Rules set to 'YES'. The idea here is to run one player through their kills per match. Another player will work on Medic Revives at the same time.

At the start of the match, tickers will work to create a path to the COG. With the Medic off to the side, the Scouts will group up. Once the player doing the killing arrives, the Medic will continuously revive her teammates as they go down. I would suggest that the killing player work to get to the highest needed Locust as quickly as possible, but that is only a suggestion. Just remember not to kill the Pretty Red Head for she is the Medic.

While the killing is happening, the remaining Locust can finish clearing barriers. A designated Locust player needs to head to the e-hole and reduce its health to 6% with the Right Trigger. They then stay near the e-hole to finally destroy it once the timer gets under 10 seconds. There is no need to reduce the health of the Generator. A turn can take about 15 minutes to complete.

Once the match switches sides, the game lobby host may back out to the menu (taking everyone with them) to allow for the next match. If you don't need XP, there is no need to play as the other side. All revives and kills will still count. However, if you wish to keep the earned XP, you will need to play as the other side. Just have the guest controllers select Wretches and all jump the barriers on the way to destroying the e-holes and generator. Adds about 2:30 minutes to the match.

Progress is best checked by looking up the achievement: Main Menu > Stats & Awards > cn_RB.

Please note that execution kills do not lend themselves well to Medic Revives. Some Locust do not offer alternatives such as the Corpser. Use the Grenadier's Lancer instead of the Gnasher. Sometimes it is better to melee (Scout and Kantus). Having revived players is much quicker than waiting for them to run back to your location.

If no one needs the achievement for revives, you may select any available map.
Gears of War: JudgmentDon’t you die on me!The Don’t you die on me! achievement in Gears of War: Judgment worth 82 pointsRevive 100 total teammates on Terminal as a Medic
Select the map Ward if a player needs

Ok, 9 years too late, but if somebody is still boosting this, these are my tips. This solution helped us a lot, but:

Destroy the first 2 e-holes ASAP and boost at the generator. All your time gets transfered to 3rd round, so you don't lose any, but actually gain time because you set up boosting location only once.

Mauler + Corpser
Split your teams 3v3 (1 player with 1 controller and 2 players with 2 controllers on each team, have their guest on the same team). No need to quit after Locust round ends, opposing team will be Locust now and can do their kills. Saves time of quitting back to menu and organizing lobby again.
Two players will be doing the killing, third is a backup, in case somebody needs to switch to a different locust. Killers take grenadiers from the start and destroy fortifications on the way to the e-hole and e-hole itself. By the 2nd e-hole, both should have over 5000 points to afford corpsers, or lesser locusts without any hassle.
Each killer takes one spawn room. Just kill COG as they spawn. If you count your kills and are done, get killed, tell the backup to fill in and change to different locust and come back.
Keep the teams the same and alternate who kills and who is backup.

Other locust except ticker teams 3v3 (for serapede and rager, destroy some fortifications as described above)
Everyone take wretches and jump over fortifications, go straight for the e-hole. Before destroying 2nd, tell your team to kill the 2 killers, so they can spawn as something else before round 3 - saving time with commiting suicide on fences).
Every COG goes to 1 spawn room, faces the wall (you fall forward when you die, so this means you will not travel around the room). 5th as medic will be outside the doorway.
2 locust take 2 cog each, kill them quick, medic revives, rinse and repeat. We could do 100 kills with serapede in a round this way, so 200 kills total per round.

Ticker
Teams divided as described in the solution, but use the method I described above. 4 COG in a room, 4 tickers, 1 ticker kills 1 COG. Reason is, it takes 5 bites to kill COG, if you kill one COG, he will die permanently before you have time to kill a second one. 1 ticker per COG makes the reviving go smoothly and without hickups. You should easily get 50-60 kills this way per round.

ametype: Overrun
Type: Any
Map: Any
Requirements: 100 kills with each Locust class across all games

You will have to get 100 kills with each of the 8 Locusts. This will have to be in an Overrun match, as it's the only gametype that supports the Locust rolls. You will have to play quite a bit, as the second tier of Locusts will cost points. Therefore you may only be able to be a couple of them a game. This is best done on private with casual bots.

Grinding: Make sure you're on the red team by pressing when choosing a map. This will put you on the Locust side. Get kills as needed and points. When it's your turn to be on the blue team (the humans) just quit out.

Note: Your stats carry over from your previous games prior to the DLC coming out. Check the Stats and Awards under Achievements to see how many of each you have.
