How to unlock the Master Racer achievement in GRID 2 - Definitive Guide

A relatively easy way to win this is to retry the first "proper" race (Muscle cars on Pacific Way) with the Chevrolet Camaro Z/28 using the Timeline. Most of the corners can be taken full speed or with drifting (use the brakes, NOT the handbrake).

Probably took me 100 restarts. Either I was taken out in the chaos of the starting grid, a single wheel touched some grass and I went careening off a cliff or into some trees, I touched or was slightly touched by another vehicle and went careening off a cliff or into some trees, I lightly bumped a barrier and came to a complete and usually dramatic stop or I finally make it to the front of the pack only to be blinded by the sun, lightly touched by second place from behind sending me into the grass which sent me into a wall which ended in me doing a triple backflip off a cliff. Rant over, achievement unlocked. Never again.

Also, I haven't confirmed it yet... but I'm pretty sure you cannot change it to Visual damage only. You have to do "Very Hard" with Damage on

I just did it in face-off and after winning my 3 races the achievement didn't unlock. It's a career event is it not?

Did this on the first Pacific Race as well. I unlocked Master Racer and the achievement for winning a race without using the brakes. Thanks!

Hi, I wonder how do you change difficulty in timeline mode? I didn't find an option for that and if I just redo the event it will be on my normal career difficulty (which is easy). Any suggestions?

In the main menu, go to Options/Extras and there should be a "difficulty" option. That setting is for the Career/Timeline races.

Still not as easy as it sounds (at least not for me) but was able to get it after a few tries.

Definitely go with the Chevrolet! I was tryin' first with the Ford Mustang but couldn't get it, switched to the Chevy and it's faster, so a lot easier. Thumbs up for you!

Just got it on this event but with Ford Mustang(the first car in game) I also got "Pedal to the metal". Just floor it and on the last corner you will probably take first and second Camaros :P

Excellent! Second go as I trashed my car up the side of the cliff trying to pass a guy on the outside, bad racing on my account. Nice solution.

Got it second attempt. Tbh, didnt notice any difficulty between this and normal. I had full damage on and got wrecked first time. I MIT try this difficulty on the higher tiers, then I bet it gets tough. As it stands, this was easy peasy.

This is what i did:
Chicago Face-Off, Marina City > Visual Damage = No cheevo
Chicago Face-Off, Marina City > Full Damage = No cheevo

I guess Face-offs aren't an event -____- roll

But the first race in season 1 worked for me (full damage was on) can't confirm visual damage only still works ;) +1 from me!

More power to everyone saying first try, piece of cake, and that it was easy. Took me around 20 failed attempts finishing one dreadful second behind first place before I finally got the win. Either way good guide, set up helped.

Bang on guide, got it first time with Visual Damage only. I guess it did help that I already had the no brakes cheevo, so I knew I could push it through the corners

I'm not sure why anyone would give this a negative vote.

I decided to go for this and Pedal to the Medal at the same time, since you mentioned that nearly all of the turns could be taken at high speed or with drifting. It took me awhile (because I was not using my brakes at all), but this was a good spot to go for it.

As a side note, I was trying this with damage on visual only and once I finally got first both achievements popped. Not sure why some are saying you have to have it on full damage.

Hi,

I was still struggling with this achievement. The suggested races didn't really help me because I always ended up 3rd or 2nd.

I found that the GP Circuit in Yas Marina was easier to finish since the A.I. always messed up the turns.

Go to:

Custom events
Tier 2 vehicles
Location: Yas Marina
Track: GP Circuit
Car: Dodge Challenger (but any other car should do as well)

If you need more help refer to the video below:

Hope this helps you guyswink

Yes best solution. I used the 4WD Nissan, lucked into the pole position, and kept ahead for a single lap. Not prob.

I found it more easier in Race In Miami, the third race of WSR Season 1.

I use the Chevrolet Camaro Z/28 and got this achievement in a couple of tries, just accelerating on the corners and make drifts, always keep an eye in not beat in the wall.

If you see something wrong please send me a comment or PM, thanks.

Here's an Achievement Hunter Community guide I made with OldTex1836 for an easy way to get the achievement.

Recorded with Blackmagic Intensity and edited with Sony Vegas.

My 10 penn'orth:

Custom Event: Race
Vehicle Tier: Three
Rounds: 1
AI Drivers: Very Hard, obviously smile

Advanced Options:
Grid Order: Previous Race Result
Damage: Visual Only
Flashbacks: 0

Track: Red Bull Ring GP Circuit, 1 lap
Car: Caterham SP300R

Get a front row grid position (done by first winning a race, then setting Grid Order to 'Previous Race Result' in Advanced Options). You'll be racing against an Atom who will beat you to the first corner no matter what. The trick to winning is to get a good first corner yourself, slipstream the Atom up the hill and then overtake him under breaking into turn 2, just like they do in F1. After that it's simply a matter of aceing the rest of the lap, which is easier said than done! But with the easy handling of the Caterham and the basic layout of the circuit, it shouldn't take too much practice. The trickiest corner is actually the very last one, so be prepared to do some serious defending on the run to the line.

The easiest race to get this is the first career event called 'New Union Race' at California -Pacific Way.

In this event there are only 5 opponents and the race is fairly short and the track isn't too challenging you don't need to brake at all, only let off the accelerator.

Make sure that you have your Difficutly in 'Options & Extras' is set to Very Hard, note you can leave damage off. Make sure you do not use any flashbacks at any time.

If you have already passed this event you can retry it from the Timeline.

Here's a video of me doing it.

It is recommended that you do this on the first race available to you in the career. Go to "Options & Extras" and change the difficulty to "Very Hard". Use the timeline to select the "California Race - Pacific Way" in the first club series, and choose the Chevrolet Camaro Z28, as it is the fastest. You should be able to do most of the race without braking, and you will naturally overtake the opponents in the turns because of your car. Make sure that you don't use any flashbacks, and if you do happen to crash, you'll want to pause and restart the race until you win.

It looks like a hard trophy, but trust me, it’s not. To do it easily, all you have to do is unlock Camaro Z28 (the oldest one). Then after setting it to the hardest difficulty, you’re going to play the first race of Career again. You can play the whole race without even braking in this car, you probably won’t have any trouble with this trophy. If anything happens during the race, just restart, as you can’t use any flashback. It is a 1:30s race, so it won’t be hard to finish it without using flashbacks.

Getting the achievement is quite simple - I’ll describe my version point by point:

1) Set the difficulty level in the settings (Very difficult).
2) In the career, select previous competitions - season 1 - race 2 (California race, Pacific way).
3) Select a Chevrolet Camaro Z28 (I tried it on others - it’s more difficult).
4) We go through the race without using flashbacks, I personally did not use the brake, I released the accelerator during turns, and braked by shifting the rear axle.

We managed to reach the finish line first in the second race.
