How to unlock the Completionist achievement in HITMAN 2 - Definitive Guide

The challenges for The Classics 1 and The Classics 2, which require you to complete all "the classics" challenges in all missions in the game on master difficulty (legacy maps included), are not required for this achievement.

When the achievement unlocks, you should see The Classics challenges showing 18/22.

Text guide for all other challenges below. You need to complete all of them. Most can be done on Casual difficulty. The Classics needs to be done on Master difficulty (difficulty completions stack). Challenges are complete once you fulfil the requirements for them, so you can technically make a save before doing one, complete it, and reload checkpoint to work on another to save time. The sequence you want to do is entirely up to you. The guide will expect you to already be familiar with the level.

Assassination
A Clean Kill
I’ll explain this in more details because this kill is the easiest way to get Suit Only, Silent Assassin on Master Difficulty.

On Master, start from default location and with default items, and head to the pool. Shoot the vase to get the hidden key (see Under the Mat). Enter the house with the key, and head to the second floor. Interact with the painting on the wall to open the panic room. Grab the frag grenades on the wall, pick up the dongle, and destroy the CCTV evidence.

Use the dongle on the laptop, quickly run to the bathroom, and hide in the closet. When a guard comes by, subdue him, and toss him into the closet. Hide again.

Wait until Alma and Orson go into the bathroom. I’d suggest to make a save now.

While waiting for Orson’s shower door to fog up, pick up the house key from the bedside table (Alma’s side). Sneak back to the bathroom, ensure that Orson can no longer see Alma, and quickly garrotte Alma.

This challenge will unlock here.

Read on to get Suit Only, Silent Assassin on Master Difficulty.

Pull her body to the closet, and toss it inside. Escape by the window beside the bath tub. Make a left turn, use the house keys to open the door, and go the panic room. Run down the stairs, open the door, and distract the lone guard near the van with a coin.

Once he walks away, run past his location. You’d now need to escape a beach that’s full of guards.

Crouch, run and hide from bushes to bushes, while using coins to lure guards out of the way. At the bush nearest to your boat, you’d notice three guards at your boat. Toss a frag grenade to the right to move them away, and quickly make a run for the boat to escape.

This is a longer method to get Suit Only, Silent Assassin on Master. However, since you need to do A Clean Kill for an achievement anyway, it presents the easiest way to do so. I’ll explain another method for this later.

Smells Like Nail Polish
Kill Alma by sabotaging the bathroom vent system.

Very easy. Plan your mission, and start in the office, and swap the fibre wire out for a vial of deadly poison, If you don’t have that, you’d need to find a poison in the second floor medicine cabinet. This requires a lockpick. If you haven’t unlock a lockpick, You’ll find one in the Panic Room beside the dongle if playing on Casual.

Sneak up to the roof, kill the two guards there, and wait until Alma and Orson go into the bathroom. Introduce the poison into the bathroom air vent to kill both of them.

Sugar, Honey, Honey
Kill Alma by poisoning her tea.

Same method of obtaining the poison, or carry one with you if you already unlock it (I did).

Before using the dongle, make a save in the kitchen at the sugar. Poison the sugar, and wait until Alma drinks the tea.

Now, I’ve played this mission countless times, and found that Alma asks for sugar almost every time when tea is made for her. However, I’ve seen a video where she actually asks for honey. This is why I suggest to make a save before introducing the poison. If, for some reason, she chooses honey, quickly reload the save, and poison the honey instead.

Suggested by sU Butters: If you've the deadly poison as an unlockable, pick up the deadly poison from the medical cabinet anyway. You can now poison both the honey and the sugar to ensure 100% success. smile

Sleep Tight
Kill Alma by smothering her in her sleep.

Follow the method in A Clean Kill. Do nothing until Alma and Orson go to bed. Walk up the the bed, and you’ll get a “Smother” option. Use it to unlock the challenge.

Like Fish In A Barrel
Kill Alma from the roof while she's in the panic room

Start in the office with poison equipped. Get both the frag grenades from the panic room. Use the dongle on the laptop to trigger the multiple hostiles. Once everyone’s home, head to the garage, and kill the lone guard there. Leave his body there. You want it to be found.

Get to the roof, and kill off the two guards. From the staircase, head slightly straight and left, and look down from the roof. You should see the dead guard. Toss a frag grenade near him. This is to make someone discover the body, and therefore triggering a target lockdown.

During the lockdown, Alma will run into the panic room. Quickly run to the panic room vent, and wait for her. Once she’s inside, introduce the poison into the panic room vent. This is by far the easiest way to kill her when she’s in the panic room.

Alternate method:
If you don’t want to use poison, head to the panic room vent during the lockdown, and toss another frag grenade at the rounded vent grilles. Wait there until Alma comes into the panic room. She’ll somehow stand near the opening for you to shoot her in the head.

Discoveries
Under The Mat
Find the hidden house key.

Easily found on first run. From the default starting location, run to the pool in the house. You’ll find a vase at the corner of the pool, to the left of the door that’s on the right. Shoot the vase, pick up the key, and unlock this challenge.

Wood You Believe It?
Find the driftwood weapon.

From the default starting location, hug the left of the beach until you reach some ruined structure near the house. A piece of driftwood is found on the left of this structure.

Alternatively, when escaping the house after the kill, a piece of driftwood is found in one of the bushes en route to your boat. This piece is very close to a guard who doesn’t move, so you’d probably want to pick this up, and use it as a distraction anyway.

Don’t Tread On Me
Find a squeak toy.

One of them is just beside the bath tub in Alma’s bath room.

The other is just under her bed (on the side where she sleeps).

Discover Hawke’s Bay
Uncover all areas in Hawke’s Bay.

There are six:
- Ruined boathouse
- House Exterior
- House Exterior, Roof
- House Interior, Main Floor
- House Interior, Second Floor (Master Bedroom)
- House Interior, Panic Room (move a painting on the wall on the second floor to open this secret room)

You can freely roam the house before using the dongle on the laptop to discover all locations. No one will be in the house until you use the dongle.

Feats
Chameleon
Acquire all disguises.

There’s only one disguise in this mission, and it’s useless because pretty much everyone except one type of enemy will see through it. It's so bad, it's almost like playing Hitman Absolution!

Easiest way to get one is to get up to the roof, shoot the two guards there in the head, and take one of their disguises.

If you want to do it stealthily, hide in the closet near the bath room immediately after using the dongle. A guard will patrol the bath room in a few minutes. Subdue him, and take his disguise.

No running on the tiles
Push someone into the pool.

This one was strangely the hardest for me. It’s very random, and no guards actually walks near the pool enough for an easy push. You’d need to lure one with coins or other items to as near the pool as possible until you get the “push cn_A” option to appear.

Best to do it on Casual when you’re in a guard disguise. Wait at the pool until one of the low level patrollers walk in. This will take several minutes. I’d randomly throw some coins to quicken the process but I’m unsure if it actually helps. Anyway, when the patrolling guard walks in, make a save, as this may take several attempts, and you don’t want to wait again.

I find it easiest to push him into the pool by tossing the coin to the right of the pool (assume I’m facing the pool from the wall with the vase that holds the hidden key). I tried to throw the coin directly or to the left of the pool a few times, and didn’t get the push option.

NOTE: As mentioned in the comments, some gamers have unlocked the achievement without having to do this challenge. You may want to leave this for last. It was certainly needed for me though so don't put your hopes too high.

Tasteless, Traceless
Kill a target with poison.

You’ll get this automatically after doing Smells like nail polish.

Orson Bathes
Kill Orson with a Kitchen Knife while he showers.

The knife is found in the area where Orson prepares tea for Alma, hanging on the wall just beside a meat cleaver.

Hide in the closet in the bath room. Once Orson’s shower fogs up, and Alma goes to brush her teeth (you can kill her with another method, e.g., with a headshot or fibre wire for other challenges), aim the knife at his head and throw the knife at him to unlock this.

Death of a Statesman
Kill Orson by poisoning his whiskey.

Get poison as described in Smells Like Nail Polish.

Orson’s whiskey is found in the master room, near the door leading to the balcony where Alma and Orson will have a long conversation before they go to bed.

Straight Shot
Kill a target with a headshot.

See Orson Bathes.

Piano Man
Kill a target with the fibre wire.

See Orson bathes.

Someone Could Hurt Themselves
Kill a target via an accident kill.

Get the emetic rat poison from the garage – it’s found near to the door that’s leading to the roof, or bring one if you've it unlocked.

Make a save when you’re at the kitchen. Introduce the poison to the sugar in the kitchen before using the dongle. Use the dongle, and sneak to the toilet near the kitchen, Wait until tea is prepared for Alma. She drinks it, feels sick, and will go to the kitchen to throw up. Drown her in the toilet bowl.

As mentioned, Alma usually asks for sugar. If she doesn’t, reload save, and poison the honey instead.

Suggested by sU Butters: There's another rat poison in the ground floor bathroom above the laundry machines. You can now poison both the honey and the sugar to ensure 100% success in making Alma sick.

Hold My Hair
Kill Alma by drowning her.

See Someone Could Hurt Themselves.

Mr Sandman
Kill Alma with a headshot from the roof while she's sleeping.

Sneak up to the roof, kill the two guards there, and wait until Alma and Orson go to bed. Hide near the glass roof where they sleep. This will take several minutes. Wait a bit more after they go to bed (a minute or two should be sufficient). Shoot Alma in the head through the glass roof to unlock this.

Now, I did all the above kills (e.g., Orson Bathes, Straight Shot, Piano Man, Mr. Sandman, etc.) by making a save right after both Alma and Orson go into the shower. This allowed me to complete all the necessary kills and feats, and reload the save to cut down on the time wasted on waiting for them.

Versatile Assassin
Complete the following feats:
- Tasteless, Traceless
- Someone Could Hurt Themselves
- Piano Man
- Straight Shot
- Hold My Hair

See the relevant sections for details.

Target
Alma Reynard.

Doing any of the kills mentioned above will complete this challenge automatically.

The Classics
Silent Assassin, Suit Only x3 (Casual, Professional, Master)
Silent Assassin x3 (Casual, Professional, Master)
Suit Only x3 (Casual, Professional, Master)
No Evidence x3 (Casual, Professional, Master)

All the above will have difficulty-related challenges. Thankfully, difficulty stacks, so you’d only need to do a one perfect run on Master to fully unlock the whole set of challenges.

Simply follow the guide above for A Clean Kill, and all the above challenges will unlock.

If you want to get a higher score without having to hide in the bathroom, below is an alternative method that can complete Master difficulty with Silent Assassin, Suit Only in about four minutes.

Start on Master in the office with default items. Go into the panic room. Grab the frags, get the dongle, and shoot the CCTV evidence. Use the dongle to trigger the enemies.

Head down the panic room stairs, and subdue the lone guard. Hide him into the nearby container. Use instinct to ensure that no one is looking, and enter the door beside the container into the main floor. Hide behind the nearest sofa.

After some talking, Alma will ask for tea. This is when the chief guard will turn his back, and walk away. Meanwhile Orson will walk to the right to make tea, and Alma will also turn her back against you.

Sneak up, and garrotte her. Quickly drag her body to the container outside the door that you came in from, and toss her inside.

Sniper Assassin x3 (Casual, Professional, Master)

Start on Master in the office with a briefcase. During the planning stage, put a sniper rifle into the briefcase.

Few ways to unlock a sniper rifle so that you can bring one into the mission for this challenge:

- Complete challenges in Paris (legacy) for a Jaeger 7,
- Complete challenges in Sapienza (legacy) for a Jaeger 7 Lancer (this comes with a zoom, pretty handy)
- Complete The Cheveyo Calibration escalation in Marrakesh (legacy - A House Built On Sand). It's only 3 levels, and rewards you with the Sieger 300 Ghost (credit to SadisticBane).
- Reach Level 10 of the Isle of Sgàil campaign (credit to JohnnyC3PO) for a silenced sniper rifle.

Once mission begins, drop the briefcase, and retrieve the sniper rifle. Holster it.

Interact with the painting to go into the panic room. Grab the frags, get the dongle, and destroy the CCTV evidence. Use the dongle to trigger the multiple hostiles.

Leave via the stairs in the panic room to head into the garage. Subdue the guard there, and toss him into the nearby container. Be careful now as there are several enemies patrolling outside. Find a spot outside when you can hide in the bush. I’d suggest doing this in a nearby bush that’s at about 45 degrees facing the house and the pool, where you’ll get a clear view of Alma and Orson, who should be talking into the main floor now before she asks for tea. From the same location, if you look right, you should see the balcony where Alma and Orson will have a long talk later, but you don’t need to wait so long.

Wait until Alma walks to the kitchen top to drink her tea. Make a quick save in case you screw up the sniper shot. Snipe her from your position, and start the usual escape route towards the boat.

Once you successful escape without anyone spotting you, all three Sniper Assassin challenges will unlock.

The Classics x3 (Casual, Professional, Master)

Complete all the above five types of classics challenges to unlock these.

Please let me know if I miss anything. All in all this mission will take around 3-4 hours for 100% completion.

Impressively complete guide, and the only thing that’s missing is telling people where they can find the silenced sniper to be able to finish the Sniper Assassin challenges.
That’s all that’s left for me, and I believe you have to get to level 10 mastery on Isle of Sgàil to unlock it and be able to start a mission with it.

I actually unlocked the sniper (Jaeger) by completing challenges in Paris (legacy). Not the best sniper rifle, but can do the job.

I'll include the details. Thanks!

Thanks for this, very detailed.
For me, Alma chose Honey most times. I guess it's random.
After about five failed attempts, I just made a save just before she's asked if she wants honey or sugar, and then I'd reload until she chose the poisoned item.
EDIT, re Sniper Assassin.
After doing most of the challenges, I was able to select the Sniper rifle from the planning section. I'd not done any other challenges on Paris, or Isle of Sgail. (that im aware of..I've not even done the Isle of Sgail level yet)

I actually got another sniper rifle after completing challengers in Sapineza, the Jaeger 7 Lancer. This one has a zoom, which makes things so much easier.

The zoom is perfect for summoning the kraken in Sapienza too.

"no running on the tiles" wasn't too hard for me.
Once I killed Alma, I disguised as a guard and went to the pool room. One of the guards seemed to be standing by the open door, so a simple coin throw to the edge of the pool, and push when he investigates.
I failed it first time however, as one of the other guards has a route through the pool room, and he saw me do it, other than that, it was one of the easier ones I found.

Looks like today's update fixes the bugginess of No Running On the Titles. Once I was able to update everything (every map needs a small update along with the base game facepalm), the achievement popped for me once I booted up. I attempted the challenge multiple times yesterday and it didn't pop then.

Superb guide, the only thing to note is that you actually get a sniper rifle for reaching Miami mastery level 5. It's not silenced but I was still able to complete the sniper assassin challenges with it.

No running on the tiles - Push someone into the pool
Still somewhat buggy! I did the feat half a dozen times under different circumstances (wearing a disguise / suit, enemy status neutral / searching / combat) but the challenge did not pop. I then went on to do wrap up all other challenges and, like many of you in the comments, I too got the "Completionist" achievement.

Mine unlocked at 14/22 The Classics, after I did sniper assassin on Casual difficulty.
I had completed the other categories and had 4/5 on "The Classics" on pro and master, just missing sniper on those difficulties.
Thanks for the guide though.

For Sniper Assassin, if you don't want to unlock achievements from
Legacy Collection, best way to get the sniper rifle is this option:

Complete The Cheveyo Calibration escalation in Marrakesh (legacy - A House Built On Sand). It's only 3 levels, and rewards you with the Sieger 300 Ghost (credit to SadisticBane).

These lists are very tedious. Do you have to finish the mission as well after completing a kill challenge? Or would it also count if I just complete a challenge and then reload an old save.

If you follow ‘Somebody could hurt themselves’ from above but then slot her with a suppressed sniper rifle, Instead of drowning, dump the body in the small lounge cupboard behind.

Complete this on Master and you’ll pop all the classics in a Oner.

Sniper Assassin didn't unlock for me until I completed the level completely unnoticeable. Subdued the target, dragged her away from others, shot her in the head from pistol range with a silenced rifle, stuffed her in a closet then escaped. If someone noticed her getting shot it didn't work, regardless of difficulty.

Can confim you can use the Jaeger silenced, but you must hide Alma's body. If found it will not unlock.

After she asked for tea, i knocked her out with the bust that is to the right of the 2nd floor safe room door as it shatters. I then dragged her upstairs to the safe room, sniped her, put her in the closet in the garage and then snuck down the beach, destroying the gas can in the bed of the truck as a distraction when prompted.

Assassin 11/11
Exploration 4/4
Feats 5/5
Target 1/1

When looking at challenges when you are ingame and playing the map Nightcall. And still no achievement. The last one I did was "no running on tiles" which is one of the feats.

So after that I brought sniper rifle as I had done the other 4 out of 5 in "The Classics", the one missing was killing with a sniper rifle. Took out Orson while in the shower and then shot her with the sniper rifle while she was sleeping on the bed. Then went and completed the map. When the map was completed and game was checking my challenges the achievement popped.

In other words the five different challenges in "The Classics" seems to be a must to complete. As it popped when I did the sniper challenge on proffesional difficulty and completing the mission with a silent assassin rating.

I just wanted to add something to the challenge for pushing someone into the pool. Instead of throwing coins, place a gun next to the pool. Make sure whoever goes to pick it up will face as perpendicular to the pool as possible. (I put it next to the toolbox so the guard was forced to walk around it.) Also DON'T do it on Casual because the guard that was in the pool room for me on Professional obviously must not spawn on Casual. I literally got this on the first try.

Thanks for such a detailed solution. For No Running On The Tiles! head straight to the pool, wait for the second guard to walk past the door then enter. The guard will wait just outside. Throw a coin just past them at the pool edge. They will then be perfectly positioned for you to push them in. No waiting around is required.

I have a strategy with which you can get every single classic challenge in one go. In brought terms:
1. Play on Master difficulty and select the sniper rifle (silenced Sieger 300 Ghost) for your loadout.
2. Get the sedative from the van in the garage and poison the Scotch in the bedroom (this will knock the guy out without killing him).
3. Now interact with the computer to start the second stage of the level.
4. Leave the house through the panic room and the garage. (Knock out the guard outside the garage door and hide him)
5. Make your way almost all the way to the boat where you escape and wait here in the bushes until the target goes to the balcony. - Make a save here.
6. Once the guy goes back inside, give it another few seconds to be sure he drank the Scotch.
7. Snipe the target > snipe the gas canister on the truck > make your exit.

This way you get the Silent Assassin, Sniper Assassin, Suit Only and No Evidence challenges.

Just popped this with only 43/57 challenges completed so there are quite a few that aren't necessary. The ones I haven't done are the 4 Classics 1 & 2 challenges that require you to complete challenges on all the other destinations, 4 of the Thriller Night and all 5 of the Shinobi ones and the feat for completing 5 different escalation missions.

Not surprised that these don't count as the Classics 1 & 2 and the escalation one seem to crossover between the challenge lists for all the major destinations so they're not specific to Hawke's Bay. I didn't play the game at launch but I'm guessing the Thriller Night and Shinobi lists were added at some point later, like what they did with the Home Alone burglers and vampire magician challenges on Paris back in the day, so weren't there to be counted when the achievement was created.

To unlock this achievement, you must complete all 27 Himmelstein challenges - 13 assassinations and 14 feats. All are possible in single-player, although some of them, especially the timed ones, could be easier with a partner. This guide is for doing them solo.

I recommend setting Performance/Scoring HUD On, Instinct On, Objectives Auto or Always On, NPC Icons On, Challenges to Full and Challenges HUD On. This guide is written assuming you are using these settings, so if you're going to do things your own way, that's fine, but don't blame me if the challenges are harder or this guide doesn't work for you.

If you're stuck on a particular challenge, move on to some others. The more XP you get, you will unlock more upgrades to your rifle. Faster reloads, larger magazines, faster fire rate, steadier aim, more aim slowdown time (squeeze cn_RT lightly while aiming), etc. all make the difficult challenges easier.

If you complete your last challenge before you eliminate the three main targets, the achievement will unlock after you eliminate them.

All times in this guide refer to the "time remaining" indicator in the lower left (Objectives must be set to Auto or Always On). The timing can vary or be thrown off completely by your actions, so my times are always based on you doing nothing other than what I've specified for that particular challenge.

W = toward the left of your screen, E = toward the right of your screen
N = toward the background, S = toward the foreground

ASSASSINATIONS
1. A Head Off the Curve - eliminate all targets with headshots. Self-explanatory. You will need to be pretty stealthy with this (i.e. hide the bodies), because once people start evacuating, you aren't going to get headshots on them without tons of luck.

2. Sleeping With the Fishes - eliminate and hide five targets in water. Easy. Just shoot a target when it is standing on the near side (with respect to you) of a pool.

3. Clean Slate - eliminate and hide all targets. There are many ways to hide them, including in water, in bushes, over ledges, and through the windows and skylights on the upper floors. Having a large object fall on them by accident, such as the chandelier or the statue in the center of the labyrinth, also works. This is a difficult, but fun challenge where patience is rewarded.

4. Smokestack Lightnin' - eliminate three targets by electrocution within thirty seconds. Quite easy to do at the beginning. Shoot around the helicopter pad area to keep the bodyguards there. Shoot the water faucets. Wait for the helicopter to land. Shoot some of the sprinklers. Now you will have Lee and three bodyguards in this area where there is a lot of water on the ground. Shoot the lights and you should get at least three of them. Faucets, sprinklers, and lights all are highlighted with Instinct. (Credit to https://www.shacknews.com/article/105365/the-last-yardbird-c... for this tactic.)

5. Heavy Burden - eliminate the three main targets with the same suspended object. Wait until around 4:00. The three main targets will gather below the chandelier. Shoot the cord holding the chandelier. (Note for challenge #13 that this moment occurs during the bridal waltz.)

6. Killer Shot - eliminate Dorian Lang and Guillaume Maison with the loudspeaker outside the art gallery. Shoot the photographer's lamp and raise the flag in the labyrinth at the beginning of the mission. Lang and Maison will meet in the art gallery, and at about 3:30 they will come outside and pause under the speaker. (If you don't shoot the lamp and raise the flag they will still meet in the art gallery, but it will be earlier, and they will leave out the back of the room.)

7. Got a Light? - eliminate the three main targets in the same explosion. At the beginning of the mission, shoot the chandelier cord . At around 4:00, when the targets would ordinarily be standing under the chandelier, they will instead go to room on the 3rd floor of the west wing. There is a cannon on the west side of this room. Shoot the fuse.

8. Touch and Go - eliminate the three main targets while they are escaping. Kill a bodyguard in plain sight or do something else to cause a panic (without killing a main target). All three targets will soon begin evacuating. The easiest way to kill a running target is with shockwave ammo. Shooting the gas heater canisters is also good. It isn't that hard to shoot the targets themselves with regular ammo if they are running straight toward you or straight away from you. The hardest of all is shooting them as they run side-to-side, but it can be done, and with practice, it becomes easier.

9. No Loose Ends - eliminate all bodyguards after starting the evacuation. At around 12:00, Lang will be at the altar. Kill Lee and Maison in broad daylight to trigger the evacuation. Now Lang will begin running all the way back to his car, giving you about a minute to kill as many bodyguards as you can. Kill Lang right before he gets to his car at around 11:00. Keep killing bodyguards as quickly as you can, and look out for any who are trying to evacuate. If you see a red icon in the objective HUD at the lower left, someone got away, so you will have to restart. This is another difficult, but fun, challenge.

EDIT: WizardSleeve08 and others suggest getting started right away by killing Maison, Lang, and as many bodyguards as you can before Lee arrives in her helicopter. See the comments.

10. Boom Boom - eliminate five targets with explosions within thirty seconds. At the beginning, raise the flag in the labyrinth. At about 9:15, Lee and Lang will start down the main steps of the mansion, followed by their personal bodyguards. At this time, look for guards who are near gas heaters. Shoot at the ground near the heaters to draw them over. Wait for Lee, Lang, and their bodyguards to pass a heater on the west side of the landing. Shoot at the ground to stop them, then shoot at the gas canister. Hopefully you will get at least three of your targets in the explosion. Shoot at the other canisters you set up to get your five kills. This may take some practice. (Thanks again to Kevin Tucker at ShackNews for this tip.)

11. Bodysnatcher - eliminate all of the bodyguards. Self-explanatory and easy. Like with challenge #1, you will want to hide as many bodies as possible to avoid triggering an evacuation.

12. An Elabyrinth Plot - eliminate Dorian Lang and Doris Lee with the statue in the maze. Raise the flag by shooting the crank. Lang and Lee will arrive at the center of the labyrinth at 7:30. When they're both in the statue's shadow, shoot the boards propping up the base of the statue.

13. A Waltz With Death - eliminate seven targets during the bridal waltz. If you do nothing to alter the timeline, the waltz begins at about 4:25. It only lasts for about 20 seconds, and the dance will be cut short if you cause an alarm, so this challenge requires planning and skill if you are soloing it. I watched a lot of videos that had some good ideas, but none of them worked for me. They were all based around changing the timeline and causing distractions, which I found too difficult to do under the tight time constraints. The way I did it was learn which guards were standing still and not being watched by anyone during that crucial 4:25-4:05 timeframe. I shot two of them, then shot the chandelier cord to get the 3 principals, then shot two more bodyguards who were outside the rotunda. Don't get discouraged if you have to retry many times; it's hard. Find some video guides if you like, but be prepared for them to not work for you.

FEATS
14. Agnomaly - [redacted] Shoot the 6 garden gnomes. Unlike the other collectibles, these must be shot in a specific order: 1) to the west of the large bluff in front of you, there are two brick towers. The gnome is on top of the E tower. It will spin to face you after you aim at it. This is the only standing gnome; all the rest are floating on their sides in water. 2) in the W corner of the lilypad pond to the W of the wedding guests. 3) in the W end of the pool behind the photographer's stand, below the waterfall. 4) in the lake, a short distance from the E corner of the grounds. 5) in the northeast pool of the 8 rectangular-ish pools between the parking lot and the mansion, 6) in the large pond to the W of the labyrinth.

15. Hawkeye - shoot all of the hawks. There are three hawks that fly above the mansion. They circle slowly and are fairly easy to hit when they are flying directly toward you or away from you.

16. Art Critic - [redacted] Shoot the painting on the easel, wait for the butler to reset it, and shoot it again.

17. Prometheus - [redacted] Look to the right of the helicopter and notice the cloud of mist. Just to the right of that, there is a pile of logs in front of a small cave. Shoot the logs to start a fire.

18. Faithless - [redacted] To win this challenge, you must kill the bride undetected before she reaches the altar. The quickest way is to take out the bride, her father (Lang), the chauffeur, and the bodyguard before any of them leave the parking lot. Or, you can spare the chauffeur by waiting until the other three pass the first pool and shooting them so that they fall in it. (Anytime I tried to stage an accidental electrocution using the water faucets and lights, the chauffeur always witnessed it, so I had to kill him anyway.) The challenge will be awarded later, when the groom is left at the altar by himself. (EDIT: TangerineGamer says, "basically just shooting the glass on the alter before the ceremony starts is enough to get the challenge." See the comments for a link.)

19. How Do You Due? - [redacted] Shoot the 10 pigeons. They are: 1) in front of the white car in the parking lot (not the limo), hidden in the grass and rocks. This one is hard to spot, but if you look for movement, you will see it. It's also hard to hit. 2) on the cliff below the skydiver, about halfway down. 3) on the extreme W corner of the railing of the 1st floor, 4) on the square part of the W end of the roof where the bodyguard walks up to periodically, 5) next to the spire on top of the rotunda, 6) on the extreme E corner of the 3rd floor (below the top balcony), 7) behind the bag of rice that's standing on its end on the sub-roof at the E end of the mansion (also see Challenge #22). 8) on a railing at the E end of the ground floor. This one is behind one of the 47 "Kiln Time" clay pots. You must shoot the pot to see it. 9) atop the statue at the E corner of the grounds. 10) in a tree S of the labyrinth. Look for a tall clump of tree near the long, straight section of aqueduct S of the labyrinth. It is in full sunlight. Zoom in all the way, scan that clump of tree, and look for movement.

20. Psycho Daisies - shoot the bridal bouquet. The bouquet spawns after the bride exits the limo and despawns when she tosses it after the ceremony. You can shoot it anytime in between, but IMO it's easiest to shoot it immediately after it spawns.

21. Blackout - turn off the lights in all rooms of the mansion. You have to shoot the light switches, which are on rectangular faceplates on the walls. A few are in plain sight, while some are partially obscured or are in dim places that are hard to spot. There are 18 in all: 1 on the ground floor W wing, 1 on the ground floor E wing, 3 on the 1st floor W wing, 1 on the 1st floor center (it's on an exterior wall), 2 on the 1st floor E wing, 3 on the 2nd floor W wing, 1 on the 2nd floor center (behind an NPC's head - be careful!), 1 on the 2nd floor E wing, 3 on the 3rd floor W wing, 1 on the 3rd floor E wing, and 1 in the rotunda. For the last one, you can shoot the chandelier cable instead of the switch.

22. And He Shall Rice - [redacted] Look on the sub-roof at the E end of the mansion. You'll see some junk that may not look like anything, but it's actually birdcages and bags of rice. Shoot the bag of rice that's standing on its end.

23. Quacker Than The Eye - [redacted] Shoot the 10 painted clay ducks. They are: 1) E of the top of the waterfall (purple), 2) in the pool behind and to the E of the photographer stand (green), 3) in the aqueduct on the W side, by the parking lot (white), 4) in the large pool to the W of the labyrinth (navy), 5) beside the gas heater by the NW corner of the labyrinth (blue), 6) in the bushes on the 1st floor level of the mansion, on the W side (yellow), 7) on the roof, below the E skylight (blue), 8) outside the rotunda, E of the chandelier (white), 9) on a shelf near the door of the pantry on the ground floor of the mansion, to the E of the main stairs (red), 10) atop the statue at the N end of the wedding grounds (yellow).

24. Kiln Time - [redacted] Shoot the 47 clay pots on the grounds of the mansion. Most of them are easy to spot. There are six that are partly obscured from your vantage point by the structures and trees of the wedding grounds, but they still aren't hard to find or shoot. If you're two short, the ones you missed are at the photographer's stand. If you're still two short, the ones you missed are at the top of the main stairs.

25. Are You Pondering What I'm Pondering? - [redacted] Shoot the two mice in the pantry (ground floor of the mansion, E of the main stairs). The name of this challenge is from Pinky and the Brain, a Warner Bros. cartoon starring two mice.

26. Take a Hike - [redacted] Simply shoot the barricade preventing the hiker from reaching the waterfall. Easiest challenge on the map.

27. The Higher You Climb - [redacted] Kill the skydiver in the air. To make him jump, shoot his beer bottle. The easiest way to kill him is by firing a shockwave below his feet right when he's jumping off. The timing on this one must be exact, so it will probably take you a few tries.

The clip below demonstrates, in order: Take a Hike, The Higher You Climb, Blackout, How Do You Due, And He Shall Rice, Quacker Than the Eye, Are You Pondering What I'm Pondering, Agnomaly, and Hawkeye. (The only challenge I was completing for the first time is Blackout, so it's the only one that shows the progress and completion indicators in the HUD.)

Sorry, this Game Clip has been removed

My god how I hate Waltz with Death. What is it with game devs thinking players just LOVE waiting 10 minutes doing nothing before they take on an extremely difficult challenge? That 10 minute wait isn't part of the challenge, there's no skill involved ><

What gas heater are you referring to specifically for the Boom Boom challenge? There are multiple heaters in the general area of the landing and I'm not sure which one I'm supposed to be using to kill the targets.

So there is a landing at the bottom of the main stairs, and then there are short stairs going left and right from it. At the bottom of the left (west) short stairs, there is a heater on the left side that has a bush behind it and a white flower vase next to it. This is the heater that the two principals and their personal guards will walk by at around 9:00. You try to get 3 or 4 kills from it and then 1 or 2 more from any other heater(s) on the grounds.

Anyone having trouble with No Loose Ends can raise their level to Mastery 15 to get a couple of extra Shockwave rounds (and several other upgrades). Just before a target leaves they stand still and can be taken out with a Wall Piercing round.

For Waltz with Death, I used the method mentioned above by Segendary Ty, Shoot the water barrel when the bride and groom are walking toward the photographer. This alters the timeline so that when the waltz starts, the 3 targets will be under the chandelier and there will be enough guards in close proximity nearby to get the required kills in under 20 seconds. It only took me 5 attempts using this method. Regarding upgrades, one of the upgrades makes the scope more stable when zoomed, which is extremely helpful when shooting the chandelier chain. There is also the padded stock upgrade which reduces recoil. I believe that unlocks at level 13. The other upgrades aren't particularly useful, and chances are you will have all the achievements long before you get the sniper upgraded to level 20.

For Faithless I shot her and waited ages and nothing happened, found this (https://www.gamepur.com/guide/38097-how-complete-faithless-f...) basically just shooting the glass on the alter before the ceremony starts is enough to get the challenge

For No Loose Ends I was going for the cannon achievement, shot the chandelier and then didn't kill any guards, when I killed the three main targets with the cannon the timer stopped and the bodyguards started to run away one at a time, I just shot them when they had the red symbol above their heads which made it pretty easy

I know it might sound obvious but you might want to mention you can slow mo by lightly pressing right trigger. Someone mentioned struggling with the chandelier chain but the slow mo makes pretty much all shots unmissable.

The water barrel method is amazing for Waltz With Death. I managed to get it on my first try using it, the alarm went off just as I got my final kill so I got pretty lucky.

I'm having trouble getting clean slate to unlock. I've methodically hidden every single body and as soon as you kill the final target the mission ends but I've made sure to hide every body and it doesn't unlock. I even did it all with headshots to stack with A Head Off The Curve

There are a few railings where you can shoot the target and he'll fall over it, but he just falls to a lower level in plain sight and could still be spotted. If you keep your Challenges HUD on and watch it after hiding every body, you should be able to tell what's going on. When you hide a body but the indicator doesn't update, there's your problem - try a different technique of hiding the body.

"Due" is pigeon in Danish, so that's why their challenges have Due in them.

On a different not, has anybody unlocked this in co-op, there's not a flag for it and me and my co-op partner don't want to unlock all the challenges and get screwed. We didn't realize that "Cannon Fodder" achievement didn't pop until a few days later but the challenge was completed. This was before Live started having achievement issues

Thanks, I'll update the solution. Himmelstein was the first sniper challenge map and the only one where evacuation was one-by-one. When the next sniper challenge map came out, the guards evacuated several at a time. Apparently they applied that change retroactively to Himmelstein as well.

No Loose Ends is driving me up a wall. For some reason, it was comically easy to do on Hantu Port, but I can't kite the guards as well on this one. It's really annoying because I'll get down to three and one will barely slip away.

On some of the other sniper maps, I found that when targets were running across the screen, shooting them down around their knees worked really well. I think that instead of separate hitboxes for each leg, they have one hitbox shaped like an inverted cone. In other words, if the shot goes through their legs, it's still a kill. Worth a try?

Waiting until Lang is at the altar does give some decent time towards No Loose Ends, but I got tired of waiting for him to get into position. Instead, I killed Maison as soon as I had a shot and used wall piercing ammo to snipe Lang as soon as the limo stopped. After that, you have a similar chunk of time to pick off guards while the helicopter carrying Lee lands. Then she runs around the right side of the mansion to escape, giving you that extra bit of time to kill guards.

As with all the maps, don't forget you have shockwave ammo

Just want to say that for Waltz, I used the water barrel. Shot it twice, which delayed the waltz perfectly. The 3 targets were under the light as the dance started. Shot the chain, took out 3 guards right outside that room, then one extra guy off to the left on the roof. Got it first time.

For no loose ends, kill Maison straight off the bat. The evac will start, then go to town on the guards for about 10-20 seconds. Kill Guillaume at the Limo when he steps out. The guards won’t start heading for exits until Doris is so you should be able to get most of them before she even lands.

The no loose ends comment worked perfectly. You got time for 1 guard between the first two main targets but Doris will run from the helicopter to the east corner so you have time in between Guillaume and Doris. Just save your shockwave till the last couple of guys and Doris to guarantee those kills

IOI has put a lot of modes into Hitman - campaign, custom contracts, escalations, elusive targets - not all of them are for everyone. Personally, I enjoy the sniper missions a lot more than most of those other modes, and I'm positive that they take more labor/resources/cost to make than any of those other modes do.

First I want to say - thank you for this solution. It really did help a lot though some of the terminology is a bit confusing as they’re not common words I hear (like I had to put two and two together to figure out what a “rotunda” was but I had no idea what an “easel” was without googling). Also couldn’t find that pigeon south of the maze in the tree based on the description so I had to find a video guide. That said all in all a positive from me!

—-

On people’s issues with this mode - this is definitely not a mode for me. I’m about to finish it up (Waltz is all I have left) and I gotta say while the concept is fun these challenges accompanying it are crap. Couple that with not being able to save...that would give all of us so much more relief if we didn’t have to wait 10 minutes at a time.

I’m someone who gets pissed off and loves a restart/retry button. I get better through quick access to trial and error. The cool down time of 10 minutes is such a pain...because once you screw it up you have to wait ten more minutes and ten more minutes. That’s bad game design. All this mode needed was a save feature we could use just once like master difficulty right before the stuff we needed. I mean YEAH it isn’t an hour wait or anything...but ten minutes at a time is obnoxious.

Now hopefully I’ll get this done quickly and be off to the next sniper map. Btw everyone saying “water barrel” ...aren’t those wine barrels? There’s a table next to them with wine glasses. Or am I shooting the wrong thing? Lol.

Edit: Got it first try with the wine barrel method. Wasn’t too sure when they started dancing but yeah there’s enough guards close to them to execute after the chandelier hits. Remember to change ammo to wall piercing if need be. Still...comment still stands that this crap sucks. I hope Hitman 3 doesn’t have stuff like this as I’m finishing up everything Hitman 2 (all challenges and unlocks) before transferring.

Added. As long as I'm commenting, does anyone know why the pigeon challenge is called "How Do You Due?" I figure it must be a reference to something, like "Are You Pondering What I'm Pondering?" but I don't know what. I thought maybe "due" is German or French or something for "dove," but that didn't check out. All hits on "how do you due" on Google point back to this challenge. There is also a pigeon challenge in Miami called "Deja Due."

I’m guessing a patch has changed this but I just want to say, for Challenge 9 - No Loose Ends, the method is fine, It’s certainly true letting Lang run the length of the map while you kill as many guards as possible is the best way to give yourself a chance once all Primary targets are eliminated. HOWEVER the part saying that the guards will only try to escape one at a time isn’t true in my experience.

As soon as Lang reaches his car and I put him down, red “escaping” indicators will appear over the heads of 3 (THREE) different guards, seemingly at random. It’s also not very possible to know which exit each guard is running to and, therefore, who to target first. Once you kill one fleeing guard, another guard will IMMEDIATELY start running, so there will ALWAYS be 3 fleeing guards until you have only 2 left alive.

Most of my failures were due to this. I often prioritised guards who are fleeing and on balconies since they can just go around behind the mansion and escape with very little warning. But then sometimes a guard who’s on the top floor will randomly run all the way to the car park instead. So THEN I would try to get as many of the guards inside the mansion as i could whilst Lang was running but then someone in the garden would get away while i’m not looking.

So, my tip here is: As soon as the evacuation starts, use standard rounds on any guards that are out in the open and focus on just getting as many as you can. Once Lang is at his car, kill him, at which point 3 guards will begin to flee. Switch to shockwave rounds immediately and aim at the ground in front of the escaping guards to try and make the first few on-the-run kills go smoother. Shockwave rounds don’t require direct hits so now that we’re dealing with moving targets this is the perfect time to use them. Once you’ve used all the shockwave rounds HOPEFULLY you should only have a handful of targets left and you can more easily keep track of the remaining guards.

As I said my assumption is this has changed in a patch since this guide was written but I just wanted to add this comment in the hopes it eases the frustration of anyone who has the same problem I did.

If I edited the solution to give people the impression they could conceivably complete all these challenges in 4 attempts, I would be lying to them. It took me maybe 20 attempts just to complete Waltz with Death. And lot of those were ruined because I inadvertently caused a distraction that threw off the timeline while hunting collectibles. So, I actually recommend when you're going for Waltz with Death that you focus 100% on that challenge.

I also took maybe 20 tries to get "No Loose Ends" until I figured out the technique of waiting until 12:00 and getting as many kills as possible while Lang is running to his car.

I think that no matter what I might put in the solution about chaining challenges together, everyone who attempts this is achievement is going to be retrying some of the intricate challenges many times, and that will include a lot of waiting. That's just being honest.

After enjoying the large majority of HITMAN, I'm now struggling through the crushingly bad experience that is Sniper Assassin. I hate the fussy requirements especially because IOI was clearly trying to squeeze out more maps at minimal cost.
EDIT: I reserved final judgment until I completed all the achievements. Having done that I still think Sniper Assassin is cheap bait & switch Hitman-lite content. In Himmelstein, most of the wedding guests are automatons that don't react to someone getting head shot 6 feet away. And in Co-op, suddenly two Gen Y hipsters have Agent 47's Instinct Mode? The biggest problem is that IOI muddled the previously clear line between challenges and achievements. I'm fine with appealing to hardcore players with tough challenges (I unlocked 97% of the game's total challenges myself) but requiring 100% for the achievements is clearly meant to stretch game playing time across the thin material.

To get this trophy you need a sniper rifle (to complete the tests).
In order to unlock the sniper rifle (Jaeger 7 Mk II) you need to reach the fifth mastery level in Miami "Finish Line".

It is better to complete the Classic tests (not like 1 and 2) after completing the remaining tests in Hawke's Bay. Those “No evidence” and “Only a suit” are completed in one go and very quickly at the “Expert” level if you select the starting point Office and take a syringe with poison with you. Immediately after the cutscene, we make our way through the window into the bathroom and hide in the Closet opposite the shower stall and wait until the target’s boyfriend enters the shower and she starts brushing her teeth, inject her with poison and hide the body in the bedroom in a drawer and calmly leave through the same window and a secret passage into office, through the basement to the street and through the bushes to the boat. Similarly, we quickly go through the Expert level with any sniper rifle with a silencer, sit in the grass on the side of the balcony and wait for the target to come out to smoke and then calmly leave the location for the boat)
