How to unlock the Master Hunter achievement in Insanely Twisted Shadow Planet - Definitive Guide
This achievement is best done with a group of four that knows the game mechanics and can communicate with each other. Your objective is to defeat the boss at the end of the fourth asteroid before time runs out on the light bomb. You accomplish this by descending into four different asteroids (traveling south on the map) while recharging your bomb and collecting ship / bomb upgrades along the way. You will face one random boss encounter at the end of the four levels.
The strategy that worked for our group was to designate one all-time bomb carrier and one ship that collects all the gun upgrades. Gun upgrades are scarce so one ship should collect three for the triple-shot. The other two ships will help clear the forward path, protect the light bomb from enemies, and grab the shielded enemies to take them out quickly. The group should move at a decent pace, but not so fast that you are running into enemies and traps. Enemies can damage the bomb and cause the time to run out faster. If the bomb carrier goes down, he needs to call out for one of the secondary gunners to pick up the bomb until his ship respawns.
At least one person should always check the map (LB) and call out where to head next. Always try to head south. The boss is indicated by a red marker on the map. Avoid the blue ship upgrades as too much time is wasted trying to acquire the upgrade. You won't have much use for them once the main gunner gets the triple-shot upgrade. It is best to hit all the yellow light bomb recharge points along the way. You can also use these recharge spots to heal / respawn damaged and lost ships.
The key to reaching the fourth boss and racking up the points is hitting most, if not all, of the "arena" rooms along the way. These don't show up on the map, but are designated by a side path along the main route. All four ships should enter the room with the bomb to spawn the enemies. Sometimes it helps to fly upwards (not in the middle of the room) with the bomb to ensure the enemies spawn as fast as possible. The main gunner should clear most of the enemies while the secondary help mop up. The bomb carrier should place the bomb in a corner and defend it. The secondary gunners should also grab shielded enemies and the centipede enemies by the head to take them out quickly.
Once all enemies have been cleared in the arena room one ship upgrade and one light bomb upgrade will appear along with a small recharge spot. Damaged ships should heal up in the light spot before recharging the bomb. Shield upgrades should be rotated through all four ships with the main gunner also receiving the first shield upgrade. The light bomb shield will provide temporary damage protection to the bomb while also allowing for the ships to heal while inside it. The light bomb gun upgrade will automatically shoot enemies when facing towards them. This can be ideal when placed in the corner of an arena room or boss fight.
Defeating bosses will also spawn one ship upgrade at the end of the level. The boss encounters are usually straightforward shoot the weak spots and avoid missiles / random enemy spawns. The bomb carrier should make sure to protect the bomb. A few tips for the bosses:
- "Snowflake"-shaped boss: Make sure you shoot the arms to take out the lasers before they spawn.
- The weak spot of the missile-shooting boss is in the middle and can be shot when he opens his shields. Make sure to avoid / shoot the missiles and random enemy spawns.
- The boss with the exploding bombs requires you to drop the bombs on the red "pads" around his body. It is best to grab the bombs right as they spawn rather than wait until they hit the ground. This gives you more time to line up your shot.
The levels and boss order are dynamically generated so don't get too frustrated if you don't get it on the first try. Sometimes all it takes is a few retires to get the right combination of traps and enemy spawns. Bomb time carries over between asteroids so make sure you stock up at a recharge spot before going on to the boss.
The first three levels are usually a breeze, but the fourth can be kind of tricky. It is the longest and can be hard to tell if the boss spawns closer to the left or right side of the map. Also, the light recharge spots are smaller so you will need to hit all of them along with the arena rooms. It might be best to avoid arena rooms closer to the fourth boss especially if there is more than half the time left on the bomb. The final stretch to the fourth boss can also be tricky and longer than you expect, so just take your time and make sure you clear enemies before moving on.
Good luck to everybody and hopefully this was helpful. If you leave negative feedback, please leave a comment letting me know what I can add to improve this guide.

A helpful note is that the shield-enemies can be smacked into the walls vulnerable side first to kill them.
Also the balloon bosses have little eyes that need to be shot to kill them, and the ramming bosses are very dangerous for the bomb so the carrier should keep a hold of it against them

I just got this with 3 other people. If you wanna try for it, expect to fail quite a few times. This is one of the top three hardest achievements I've ever gotten.
